Sardinas is 8-for-19 (.421) with a triple and five RBI through three games with Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Sardinas has not done much hitting in his career, but his numbers should get a boost this season due to the light air in Colorado. Sardinas plays a quality shortstop, and he could be an option for the Brewers at some point this season.

Sardinas saw action in 17 spring games and posted a .294 batting average, so the Brewers had to like what they saw after acquiring him from the Rangers in an offseason trade. Sardinas is one of the Brewers' better prospects and could probably fill a utility role at the big league level, but given that he would not have a starting spot, the club opted to send him to Colorado Springs in an effort go get him regular playing time.

Sardinas and two other prospects were traded to the Brewers on Monday in exchange for Yovani Gallardo, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Sardinas is the headliner in the package of players heading to Milwaukee in the deal. He has an outside shot to win a utility job with the big club after appearing in 43 games with the Rangers last season, but he reached the Triple-A level for the first time in 2014 and could use everyday at-bats, so it seems more likely that he begins the campaign with Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Sardinas went 3-for-5 with two doubles, four RBI and a couple of runs scored in Sunday's 10-3 rout of the Braves.

Sardinas was obviously locked in at the plate Sunday afternoon, as the 21-year-old infielder enjoyed the best offensive performance of his young MLB career. Sardinas should continue to be afforded plenty of opportunities to display his defense, speed and switch-hitting ability over the next couple of weeks.

Sardinas may get an extended look the final three weeks of the season, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Sardinas' immediate future with Texas is blocked by Elvis Andrus, Roughned Odor and Jurickson Profar but he'll get ample playing time the final three weeks for those in single-year formats.

Sardinas will be called up from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, John Blake of the Rangers' official site reports.

In 26 games with the Rangers this season, Sardinas put up a friendly .288/.329/.318 line with four RBI, seven runs, and one steal in 66 at-bats. Along with Adam Rosales, the duo will provide depth at second and third base as well as shortstop.

Odor and Sardinas are both 20-year-old top prospects that will likely have to wait until 2015 to make their big league debuts. Rowen and Font figure to provide bullpen depth at the Triple-A level. The 23-year-old Bonilla, acquired from the Phillies in the Michael Young deal, is an intriguing relief prospect.
