Tue May 13 201423:35Harrison (back) to miss at least one start
MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reports that Matt Harrison (back) "is expected to miss at least one start if not be out for an extended period of time."
Harrison left Tuesday's outing with back stiffness and admitted that the injury was in the same area that he had operated on twice last year. The left-hander will fly back to Dallas to be examined by Dr. Drew Dossett, and a trip to the disabled list is surely forthcoming. It's really a tough break for Harrison, who was limited to just two starts last year and is now looking at possibly another extended absence.

Tue May 13 201421:19Matt Harrison exits start with back stiffness
Matt Harrison left Tuesday's start against the Astros with back stiffness.
It's possible that Harrison just stiffened up on a cool night in Houston, but obviously it's worrisome given his history of back issues. The Rangers should have an update on the seriousness of the ailment after the game.

Matt Harrison left Tuesday's start against the Astros in the second inning with an apparent injury.
It's not clear what ailment he's dealing with, but Harrison's velocity was down all night and he was touched up for three runs on four hits and three walks over 1 2/3 innings. Harrison, of course, has dealt with back issues over the last two seasons. The Rangers should update his status shortly.

Harrison, making his third start since returning from the disabled list, struggled a bit with his control but the Rockies couldn't figure him out anyway. The lefty allowed three hits, walked four, and struck out two. Now with a 2.87 ERA and with his first win under his belt, Harrison will face the lowly Astros on the road in his next start.

Sun May 4 201400:44Matt Harrison removed after 4 1/3
Matt Harrison yielded three runs and 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings Saturday against the Angels.
Harrison also walked three and was very lucky to escape only allowing three runs. He got some help from Shawn Tolleson in the fourth. Harrison's last out of the game came on a sac bunt that moved baserunners up to second and third. Tolleson took over then and escaped the jam without a run scoring. Harrison will face the Rockies at home next time out. He's a mediocre play in AL-only leagues.

Making his 2014 debut, Harrison allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out four. He left in line for his first victory, but the bullpen let him down. Still, it was a nice first outing for the left-hander. He'll look for his first win when the Rangers visit the Angels on Saturday.

Rangers activated LHP Matt Harrison from the 15-day disabled list.
Harrison will start on Sunday against the Mariners in what will be his first major league outing since last April. He went eight innings in his final rehab start, so his pitch count shouldn't be an issue.

Wed Apr 23 201413:49Harrison (back) to rejoin rotation on Sunday
Matt Harrison (back) will rejoin the Rangers' rotation on Sunday in Seattle.
He had been lined up for Friday, but the team has decided to alter the scheduled because they don't want Harrison and Colby Lewis batting during an interleague games in Colorado on May 5-6. Harrison will be making his first start in the majors since last April. "I'll give up the swings because it means I get to be back here and pitching," Harrison said. "It was my goal to get back and pitching. If it means I don't get a start there, that's fine. I'll take late April for getting back as opposed to later in the year."

Mon Apr 21 201422:59Harrison (back) on track for Friday return
Matt Harrison (back) is on pace to rejoin the Rangers' rotation on Friday.
Harrison threw a light bullpen session on Monday and will throw a full session Tuesday before the Rangers officially make a decision about his status. Sun Apr 20 201411:20Harrison (back) to rejoin Rangers this week
Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said in an interview Sunday that Matt Harrison's (back) next start is expected to come at the major league level.
It's a reverse of what the team said last week, but Harrison convinced the Rangers that he was ready with eight shutout innings in a rehab start with Double-A Frisco Saturday. Harrison can slide into the rotation spot that was vacated by Tanner Scheppers (elbow). The left-hander will be making his first start in the majors since last April.

Mon Apr 7 201419:27Harrison won't necessarily return on April 23
Rangers general manager Jon Daniels indicated Monday that Matt Harrison (back) won't necessarily be activated on April 23 as had previously been reported.
"We've said he should be built up by April 23, but that's not a deadline," Daniels said. "We want to make sure he's 100 percent and able to compete. Really, when he's 100 percent he should be able to dominate before he comes back." Harrison made his first rehab start at Double-A Frisco last Thursday, though it didn't officially count since it was rained out. The Rangers have until May 2 to activate him.

Thu Apr 3 201422:38Matt Harrison has rain-shortened rehab start
Matt Harrison (back) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk over two innings in a rain-shortened rehab start with Double-A Frisco Thursday.
Harrison labored through a 31-pitch first inning, allowing three extra-base hits and a walk. He then settled in with a perfect second frame before a leadoff double in the third, at which point the skies opened up. Harrison had been slated to throw 65 pitches or four innings but wound up only getting his pitch count up to 41. He was throwing in the 89-90 mph range, which was down from the 90-93 mph he was sitting at in Arizona. Harrison is aiming to rejoin the Rangers' rotation on April 23.

Fri Mar 28 201423:10Harrison knocked around by Astros on Friday
Matt Harrison allowed four runs on five hits over three innings of work in a loss to the Astros on Friday.
A disastrous first inning in which Harrison gave up all four runs -- three on a Chris Carter homer -- was followed by two scoreless innings, so it wasn't all bad. In total, the southpaw allowed five hits and two walks while striking out two. He's still working his way back from neck issues earlier in spring, so it'll be a few more weeks before we can expect to see Harrison in Texas.

Mon Mar 17 201421:52Matt Harrison allows three runs vs. Royals
Matt Harrison yielded three runs in 1 2/3 innings Monday in a Cactus League start against the Royals.
Only two of the runs were earned, but Harrison was not sharp. His fastball sat in the upper 80s and the Royals kept him from covering the two full innings that he was originally scheduled to pitch. Harrison began experiencing renewed back and neck issues in late February and will open the season on the 15-day disabled list.

Fri Mar 14 201419:55Matt Harrison to throw two innings on Monday
Matt Harrison (back, neck) threw 47 pitches in a successful live batting practice session on Friday and is scheduled to work two innings against the Royals on Monday.
It still seems likely that he'll begin the regular season on the disabled list, but should be an option for the Rangers rotation within the first few weeks. The 28-year-old left-hander offers little in the way of fantasy upside with his low strikeout totals, but could be worth a gamble in the final rounds of mixed league drafts.
