McDermott started and played 31 minutes Saturday against the Bucks. He finished with seven points (3-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt), eight rebounds, three assists and one block.
McDermott filled in for the injured Mike Dunleavy (knee) and although Dunleavy's injury is not believed to be serious, it at least showed that McDermott is high enough in the pecking order that the Bulls feel comfortable starting him. McDermott has a chance to have a significant role in his rookie season.

McDermott played 26 minutes Monday against the Wizards and scored eight points (2-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-5 FT) to go along with one rebound.
McDermott was drafted to bring the Bulls more outside shooting and he did make one three-pointer in his first preseason game. He could carve out a nice role this season if he can hit his open shots and play solid defense.

Coach Tom Thibodeau implied Monday that McDermott may not be a part of the Bulls' nightly rotation, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Speaking on both McDermott and fellow-rookie Nikola Mirotic, Thibodeau said, "there will be a period of adjustment" and that championship teams don't often have two rookies in the rotation. The implication is that both players will need to work their way into the consistent rotation, as Chicago is already deep at both forward spots. McDermott, who played four years at Creighton, may be more NBA-ready than most prospects, but he'll have to beat out veterans Jimmy Butler and Mike Dunleavy for playing time, which won't be an easy task.
Wed Jul 30 201419:04Derrick Rose praises Doug McDermott
Derrick Rose praised Doug McDermott for his floor presence, not forcing the issue, and his shooting ability.
Those were three things that were on display for McDermott on his way to earning a first-team spot for Las Vegas Summer League. The Bulls are likely going to bring McDermott off the bench, so his scoring output likely won't be on full display right off the bat.

Mon Jul 28 201418:54Doug McDermott minor left foot injury is fine
Doug McDermott stated on Monday that the minor foot injury that sidelined him for the final Summer League game is now fine.
He also scrimmaged against Team USA on Monday, so it's obvious that this will not be an issue moving forward. That being said, unless there's a major shakeup to the Chicago roster, McDermott isn't likely to earn enough minutes in coach Tom Thibodeau's tight rotations to warrant consideration in standard leagues.

Tue Jul 22 201416:24Bulls officially sign rookie Doug McDermott
The Bulls officially signed rookie Doug McDermott on Tuesday.
McDermott averaged 18.0 points with relative ease during Summer League, making 44.4 percent of his 3-pointers and 95.7 percent of his free throws. He may earn a bench role as a rookie but fantasy owners should approach him cautiously. For what it's worth, reports about Chicago's pursuit of Kevin Love do not mention McDermott as a potential trade chip.

Sat Jul 19 201420:41McBuckets out with a minor left foot
Doug McDermott will not play on Saturday due to a minor left foot injury.
It's extremely minor and there was nothing noticeably wrong in his previous action. In his last three games, McDermott made all 18 free throws to go with a sterling 62.9 effective field goal percentage. He'd have to come out like gangbusters to get significant minutes with the Bulls this upcoming season.

Tue Jul 15 201418:53Doug McDermott scores 20 points on 13 shots
Doug McDermott made 7-of-13 from the field for 20 points with five boards, six assists, two turnovers and four 3-pointers in 26 minutes on Tuesday.
It wasn't 31 points on 12 shots like on Sunday, but it was another impressive game McDermott's range and size has made him almost unstoppable in summer league, but there are just too many obstacles for him to get significant minutes in his rookie season.

Sun Jul 13 201421:52Doug McDermott scores 31 on 12 FGAs
Doug McDermott needed just 12 shots from the field to score 31 points vs. the Nuggets on Sunday, adding one rebound, one assist, one block and five 3-pointers.
He made all 12 shots from the line and made 7-of-12 from the field for a spectacular true shooting percentage of 89.7 percent. The Bulls have an absolutely loaded front line with the additions of Pau Gasol and Nikola Mirotic. McDermott is really going to have be able to play both forwards spots to get consistent minutes.

Sat Jul 12 201422:51Doug McDermott has a quiet debut
Doug McDermoot shot just 2-of-8 vs. the Clippers on Saturday with 10 points, five boards, four assists, two 3-pointers and four turnovers.
He played 31 minutes and wasn't too involved in the offense. McDermott led Division I in scoring last year, but he's certainly not going to crack double figures this year with Pau Gasol around.

Fri Jun 27 201421:44Thibs is a fan of Doug McDermott
Coach Tom Thibodeau said he was impressed how Doug McDermott handled his senior season and praised him on Thursday night.
"If you're just viewing him strictly as a shooter, you're not casting him in the proper light," Thibodeau said. "Because he's a lot more than that. We think he's a complete player. We think he's capable of playing very good defense." Thibodeau has turned some bad defenders into one's he's been able to hide due to his five-man defense, so the Bulls could call on McDermott for offense in his rookie season. Although, he still has his work cut out for himself to get minutes in the 20s.
