RHP Chris Tillman struggles continued Tuesday against the Cleveland Indians. He allowed five runs on eight hits with three walks over four-plus innings. Tillman is winless in his past eight starts and has an 8.39 ERA in 39 2/3 innings. "It's frustrating but you keep thinking about the same thing over and over again you're not going to get anywhere," Tillman said. "You've got to buy into the process and keep working. You've got to show up tomorrow ready to start and get better for the next start. I know I'm not the only one but you've got to keep going You can't just dwell on all the negative. There are a lot of good things that happened tonight. Bullpen was outstanding. Offensively was impressive, defensively, outstanding. Just got to get better with the starting pitching."

RHP Chris Tillman (1-5) suffered his fifth straight loss after giving up five runs on a season-high 11 hits over 5 1/3 innings. But manager Buck Showalter found positives in the outing. "Chris has a good track record and he's going to pitch better and hopefully today's the start of that," he said. "They made him earn everything. He gave us a chance, we're just not scoring any runs." Tillman also had a season-high six strikeouts.

RHP Chris Tillman makes his eighth start of the season Thursday. He earned the win in a five-inning, shutout effort against the Chicago White Sox on May 7, his debut outing after missing the season's first month with a shoulder injury. But his next six starts resulted in four losses and two no-decisions, including 29 runs over 25 1/3 innings. The worst came in his last appearance -- nine runs in 1 1/3 innings in the Orioles' 16-3 loss to the Yankees on Saturday.

RHP Chris Tillman saw his ERA rise from 5.56 to 8.01 when he allowed a career-worst eight hits and seven runs in 1 1/3 innings Saturday. Most of the hits occurred on breaking pitches, which is something Tillman addressed in his postgame comments by saying: "It's just trying to get too far ahead and trying to get the breaking stuff going so early when you get two quick outs, it's pitching stupid." It was Tillman's shortest start since also going 1 1/3 innings June 21, 2015 in Toronto and in two starts against the Yankees this season, his ERA is 31.50.

RHP Chris Tillman (1-2) struggled mightily Tuesday against the New York Yankees. He allowed five runs on seven hit in just 2 2/3 innings. Tillman has pitched past the fifth inning just once in five starts, which has put added pressure on the bullpen. "Chris wasn't very crisp and just didn't pitch well," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "Couple in the fact that it's a good-hitting club, wasn't very good. Goes without saying. Did pitch the last five innings pretty well, but we had to use a lot of people to do it. Severino's a good pitcher. He's got good stuff. We knew that."

RHP Chris Tillman made his fourth start Wednesday after opening the season on the disabled list with right shoulder bursitis. Tillman struggled with his command early before settling down. He allowed four runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and two walks over five innings. "I couldn't throw the ball where I wanted to early and every adjustment I tried to make I felt like it got worse," Tillman said. "Later in the game was able to make an adjustment and able to make some better pitches."

RHP Chris Tillman gave the Orioles something they badly needed Friday -- a six-inning start. That was the longest of his three starts this season; he gave up three runs and left in a tie game but took some pressure off the bullpen. "It was much much better," Tillman said. "I only had one inning where it really got away from me. And like I said last time, I kind of got out of my rhythm and tried to do too much. But it was much better."

RHP Chris Tillman made his 2017 debut Sunday against the White Sox after opening the season on the disabled list with right shoulder bursitis. Tillman started shaky but recovered for an impressive outing. He threw five scoreless innings with four strikeouts and three walks. "I felt pretty good today," Tillman said. "If my offspeed wasn't so good, I probably would have thrown more fastballs. That's why I threw so much offspeed, but I felt really good with that and I had a pretty good feel. I decided to go with it until they showed me I shouldn't be throwing it anymore."

RHP Chris Tillman (right shoulder bursitis) made a third rehab start Thursday when he pitched for Class A Frederick and experienced mixed results by allowing six runs -- four earned -- in five innings against Potomac. He allowed three infield hits and a throwing error by one of his infielders led to a three-run inning. Reports indicate his velocity was in the range of 87 to 88 mph and peaked at 91. It's possible he might start Tuesday in Boston but manager Buck Showalter said Friday he wants to see how Tillman's work day goes. Showalter said he is not concerned about Tillman's velocity in rehab starts. "He's such a pitcher," Showalter said. "And I think some things will tick up a little bit with the bells and whistles and the big lights being on."
