Aybar will bat leadoff for the fourth straight game Sunday against the Giants, MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez reports.

Aybar hit atop the order for a brief stretch earlier in the year when Kole Calhoun was dealing with a calf injury, but it appears Mike Scioscia is considering him for the leadoff role long-term, moving Calhoun to the cleanup spot. The movement only helps the prospective fantasy value of Aybar, who will be due to see a few more at bats as long as he holds on to the job. He'll likely need to improve upon a .258 OBP if this move is going to stick, however.

Kole Calhoun (calf) will miss a third straight start, affording Aybar another opportunity to set the table for the Angels. Last season, Aybar hit .279/.301/.426 in 68 at-bats from the leadoff spot.

Aybar lost the leadoff spot to Kole Calhoun in 2014, but the 31-year-old managed to produce in his new role, as he notched a career high in runs (77) and RBI (68) while hitting primarily in the fifth and sixth spots in the lineup. Owners counting on Aybar stealing 30 bases in 2015 will likely be disappointed, as he hasn't eclipsed 20 since 2012, but he could keep up his run and RBI totals up as a middle-of-the-order bat while keeping his batting average in the .270-.280 range.

With the Angels already clinching their playoff spot, Aybar and the starters will be seeing some regular days off before the post-season. He has been hitting .243 over 70 at-bats in September, and will yield the start to Gordon Beckham at short.

Aybar has been on an impressive run of late, as he has now recorded five consecutive multi-hit games, stealing two bases over that span. He has just two doubles and no home runs during the course of the entire streak, but could certainly be worth a look at a shallow position while he is red hot.
