Erick Aybar had a nice day at the dish in Sunday's loss to the Athletics, going 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI.

Fri May 30 201401:37Aybar homers, goes 3 for 5 against Mariners
Erick Aybar had three hits, including a three-run homer, in Thursday night's tilt with Seattle.
Aybar's homer came on a 3-2 pitch with two outs and effectively sent Seattle SP Brandon Maurer to the showers. Beyond the home run, Aybar contributed across the board, going 3 for 5, stealing a base and scoring a run. It was just Aybar's fourth home run on the season. Also, just his fifth stolen base. Power and speed aren't really Aybar's forte, so games like tonight's are a pleasant surprise.

Tue May 13 201415:24Erick Aybar not in Tuesday's lineup
Erick Aybar is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Phillies.
No word on any sort of injury, so he's presumably getting a breather. John McDonald will make the start at shortstop while Luis Jimenez plays third base.

Fri May 9 201423:20Erick Aybar triples, doubles twice in win
Erick Aybar tripled, doubled twice and scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth as the Angels beat the Blue Jays 4-3 on Friday.
Aybar scored on Raul Ibanez's sac fly in the ninth. It's the fourth time in Aybar's career that he's collected three extra-base hits in one game. He's far from an ideal leadoff option for the Angels, but he did nicely there tonight.

Sun May 4 201422:27Aybar homers among three hits against Rangers
Erick Aybar went 3-for-5 with a home run in Sunday's loss to the Rangers.
Leading off the bottom of the first inning, Aybar took Yu Darvish out to right for his second homer of the season. Aybar finished a triple short of the cycle, raising his average to .281 for the year. Angels manager Mike Scioscia has shuffled his lineup incessantly in search of the optimal run-producing order, and more days like Sunday could earn Aybar repeated looks in the leadoff spot.

Fri Apr 25 201423:28Aybar has four hits, HR vs. Yankees
Erick Aybar had a huge night at the plate Friday against the Yankees, going 4-for-5 with a three-run homer and four runs scored.
Aybar is 11-for-17 (.647) over his last four games, pulling his batting average from .175 to .275 on the year. With J.B. Shuck struggling, it will be interesting to see if Mike Scioscia gives him another chance near the top of the order. It would obviously help his fantasy appeal.

Mon Apr 21 201423:02Erick Aybar goes 3-for-4 in win
Erick Aybar went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the Angels' 4-2 victory over the Nationals on Monday.
The double was the first non-triple extra-base hit for Aybar this season; he had two three-baggers. Aybar showed impressive plate discipline in the spring, but it hasn't been so apparent in games that have mattered. His mixed-league fantasy value will be pretty limited unless he convinced Mike Scioscia that he's the Angels' best option to bat leadoff (he's not).

Wed Apr 9 201423:44Aybar pulled after dental work done Wednesday
Erick Aybar was pulled from Wednesday's game against the Mariners after undergoing some dental work earlier in the day.
It appears we've finally gotten to the root of the issue. Aybar was originally in the lineup, but apparently he was still feeling some effects from the work done before the game. He was replaced at shortstop by John McDonald. It doesn't seem like the kind of thing that will force him to miss any more time going forward.

Wed Apr 9 201422:27Aybar a late scratch from Angels' lineup Wed.
Erick Aybar was a late scratch from the Angels' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.
It's unclear what the reasoning is for the scratch. He was replaced in the lineup by John McDonald. The Angels should give an update soon.

Sun Mar 16 201421:34Erick Aybar has two hits in loss to Mariners
Erick Aybar tripled and scored a run in Sunday's Cactus League loss to the Mariners.
The 30-year-old finished the afternoon 2-for-3, raising his spring average to .296. With limited power, and hitting near the bottom of the Angels lineup, he's nothing more than a middle infield option in deeper mixed leagues.

Fri Nov 22 201317:59Cards won't revisit talks for Erick Aybar
Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Cardinals and Angels discussed Erick Aybar during the Peter Bourjos talks, but they're not expected to revisit the possibility of a deal for the shortstop.
The clubs discussed the possibility of expanding the deal to include Aybar and some of the Cards' young pitching, but St. Louis ultimately decided against it. The Angels have no replacement lined up for Aybar, so they're probably asking for a bit more in return than he's really worth.

All three hits were doubles. Aybar had gone without an extra-base hit in his previous nine games. He'll enter the final day of the season with a .271/.302/.383 batting line to go along with six home runs, 54 RBI, and 12 stolen bases.

Erick Aybar finished 2-for-4 with a triple, home run, four RBI and two runs scored in Monday's blowout victory over the Rays.
Aybar entered the game having gone hit-less in seven of his last 10 games, the most recent dry spell in a famine that has seen his average drop from .290 on Independence Day to .270 at the moment. He's up to five home runs and 50 RBI.

Mon Aug 19 201320:44Angels place Aybar, Vargas on waivers
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Angels have placed Erick Aybar and Jason Vargas on waivers.
The Angels discussed a trade with the Cardinals involving Aybar before the deadline, so it's possible the two sides might rekindle those talks should the shortstop reach them on waivers. Aybar is under contract through 2016, while Vargas will hit free agency over the winter.
