Sat Jun 27 201500:33Erick Aybar: Left Hamstring Tightness
Aybar exited Friday's game in the top of the seventh inning with left hamstring tightness.
Prior to leaving, Aybar went 1-for-2 with a double (which he unsuccessfully tried to stretch to a triple) and a sacrifice. Taylor Featherston replaced Aybar at short and would be in line to start Saturday if Aybar is forced to sit.
Wed Jun 24 201523:12Aybar 3-6 and scored run Wednesday against Astros
Aybar went 3-for-6 and scored a run Wednesday against the Astros.
He's now hit safely in six consecutive games, lifting his average from .246 to .260 in that span, but that doesn't do a whole lot to take the edge off what's been an awful season for Aybar. His OPS is still nearly 100 points lower than last year, and he's running less often -- not a formula for significant fantasy value.
Thu Jun 18 201513:01Aybar not in lineup Thursday against Diamondbacks
Aybar is not in the lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks.
The everyday shortstop will get a scheduled day off Thursday as Taylor Featherston gets the nod at shortstop. Featherston will bat eighth against Arizona starter Allen Webster.
Wed Jun 10 201514:35Aybar 3-6 with two runs scored in win over Rays on Tuesday
Aybar went 3-for-6 with two runs scored in a win over the Rays on Tuesday.
Aybar now has five hits in his last three games, but has recorded just one extra-base hit and has yet to steal a base in June. Aybar will likely remain at the top of the lineup for the time being, which could mean some opportunities to swipe bags if he can continue to get on base.
Sun May 31 201516:43Erick Aybar: (Hamstring) Returns To Lineup Sunday
Aybar (hamstring) will return to the lineup Sunday, batting leadoff against the Tigers.
Aybar was expected to rejoin the Angels' lineup Sunday, and that is indeed the case. The hamstring issue reportedly felt "great" Friday, but he sat out both then and Saturday regardless. The trainers must be satisfied with his progress however, as he'll retake his spot atop the order, bumping Johnny Giavotella down to ninth in the order.

Los Angeles Angels shortstop Erick Aybar will return from a hamstring injury Sunday against the Detroit Tigers, according to the team's official website.
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Erick Aybar will return from a hamstring injury Sunday against the Detroit Tigers, according to the team's official website. After missing the previous two games, Aybar will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Sunday's nationally-televised series finale. He suffered the injury during Thursday's game against the Tigers and had to leave the contest in the sixth inning. He said Friday that his hamstring felt great, hinting that his absence from the lineup would likely only last a day or two. He probably could have played if necessary, but the Angels' training staff advised a more cautious approach. Aybar had otherwise started every game at shortstop this season, making just five errors in 48 appearances, though his batting statistics are a bit down from last season. He has still been one of the more consistent players in a struggling Angels lineup, with a .273 batting average and .318 on-base percentage.

Sat May 30 201518:21Erick Aybar: (Hamstring) Remains Out Saturday
Aybar (hamstring) remains out of the lineup Saturday against the Tigers, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
Aybar said he felt "great" Friday and suggested his absence was merely precautionary, but it seems the training staff still has some reservations about the health of his left hamstring. Grant Green will get the start at shortstop Saturday in place of Aybar, who remains day-to-day ahead of Sunday's series finale.

Aybar (hamstring) said Friday that he feels "great" and could play but will opt to sit out in an effort to make sure he is in the lineup Saturday, the Orange County Register's Jeff Fletcher reports.
This crisis appears to be averted and he should be back in the lineup sometime this weekend. Taylor Featherston is getting the start at shortstop Friday.

Fri May 29 201509:20Erick Aybar: (Hamstring) Scioscia Is Optimistic
Angels manager Mike Scioscia doesn't expect Aybar (hamstring tightness) to require a stint on the disabled list, MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez reports.
Scioscia made the comment shortly after Thursday's game against the Tigers, and his initial optimism doesn't carry too much weight, as he also noted that the team won't rush its shortstop back. Aybar was removed from Thursday's game in favor of Taylor Featherston after trying to beat out a bunt in the sixth inning.

Fri May 29 201500:11Erick Aybar: Exits with Tight Hamstring
Aybar exited Thursday's game against the Tigers in the sixth inning with left hamstring tightness, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
Aybar appeared to tweak his hamstring when he attempted to run out a bunt. He was replaced in the next half inning at shortstop by Taylor Featherston, but the Angels haven't provided word on the severity of the injury just yet. If Aybar is forced to head to the DL as a result of the injury, it would be a crippling blow to the offensive-starved Angels, as the infielder had been its most productive contributor with a .341 average over the preceding 23 games.

Aybar went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, a stolen base and two runs scored in a win over the Red Sox on Friday.
Aybar has quietly had a productive month of May, hitting .316 with a .405 slugging percentage in 79 at-bats. While he may hit for a nice average, Aybar doesn't have much power, and is once again showing a tentative approach on the base paths, as the former 30-stolen base threat swiped his first bag of the season Friday.
Mon May 18 201510:46Aybar will lead off for Angels on Monday against Blue Jays
Aybar will lead off for the Angels on Monday against the Blue Jays, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
Manager Mike Scioscia has decided to change things up Monday, batting Kole Calhoun cleanup while Erik Aybar will make the jump up to leadoff. If this were to turn into a permanent lineup, Aybar could increase his run total due to added at-bats. However, Monday is likely more an experimental lineup at this point.
Sat May 9 201523:57Aybar 1-4 with two RBI in 6-5 loss to Astros Saturday
Aybar went 1-for-4 with two RBI in the 6-5 loss to the Astros Saturday.
Aybar may be the smallest five/six-hole hitter in the league, but he can produce RBI production out of the shortstop position, which is fairly rare. He has gotten off to a slow start, but will likely finish the season with the usual solid numbers on the back of his baseball card.
Sat May 9 201501:02Aybar 1-3 and scored run in 2-0 win over Astros Saturday
Aybar went 1-for-3 and scored a run in the 2-0 win over the Astros Saturday.
Aybar was sitting right at a .200 AVG on May 2nd and has gone 7-for-20 over his last seven games to raise his average to .223; so clearly he's finding some rhythm after a dreadful start. Aybar might be a good buy-low candidate in deeper leagues as he has always been productive providing in a multitude of categories for the majority of his career.
