Tue Apr 22 201401:04Presley goes 3-for-4 with 3B, 2 runs in win
Alex Presley went 3-for-4 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 7-2 victory over the Mariners.
Presley, who entered with a .146 batting average, desperately needed a game like this. The spring waiver claim from Minnesota hadn't recorded a multi-hit game this season prior to tonight, and he'd only collected two extra-base hits (both homers). Presley has enough speed and pop to be intriguing in deeper AL-only formats if he gets going, but he could also lose his roster spot if the bat doesn't produce more nights like this evening.

Sun Mar 30 201413:00Alex Presley to platoon in RF with L.J. Hoes
Astros manager Bo Porter said Sunday that Alex Presley and L.J. Hoes are likely to platoon in right field.
That means Presley, who was claimed off waivers last week, will be looking at regular at-bats against right-handed pitching. While he doesn't have any standout talents, the 28-year-old does a little bit of everything and should be considered for deep league fantasy rosters.

Fri Mar 28 201423:22Presley slaps two hits in first game with HOU
Alex Presley went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored in Friday's win over the Rangers.
A day after being claimed off waivers from the Twins, Presley showed why the Astros were interested in acquiring the 28-year-old. Presley doubled and later singled after entering as a pinch hitter in the game's sixth inning. He's got a chance to challenge L.J. Hoes for starting time in right field.

Thu Mar 27 201414:12Astros claim Alex Presley from the Twins
Astros claimed OF Alex Presley off waivers from the Twins.
Presley became expendable to the Twins after they deemed Aaron Hicks fit for starting center field duty. Presley, 28, is a .264/.304/.411 career hitter in 821 plate appearances at the MLB level. He is not a fantasy-relevant player but makes for a decent fourth outfielder.

Tue Mar 11 201416:05Alex Presley goes hiteless in loss
Alex Presley went 0-for-3 with a HBP from the leadoff spot on Tuesday and is 4-for-19 with no runs scored this spring.
Presley has struck out six times, and he's yet to walk. He's also 0-for-2 stealing bases after manager Ron Gardenhire said earlier this spring he wanted him to be more aggressive on the basepaths. None of this seems like a good thing for the guy who figured to open the season as the Twins' leadoff hitter. Worse, his main competition, Aaron Hicks, is hurt and hasn't played in a week. The Twins should keep their eyes open in case another leadoff-type center fielder becomes available.

Wed Sep 4 201317:28Alex Presley hits three-run homer
Alex Presley went 2-for-4 and hit a three-run homer Wednesday against the Astros.
Presley is 7-for-18 with five RBI in four games for his new team. Unfortunately, he's also 0-for-2 stealing bases; he might be trying a little too hard to impress the people that traded for him. He'll get all month to make his case for a starting job in center field next season.

Sun Sep 1 201318:12OF Presley impresses in Twins' debut
In his first game with the Twins, Alex Presley went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored on Sunday against the Rangers.
Presley led off and played center field, two gigs he could lock down for the remainder of the month if he plays well (or, more accurately, plays better than Aaron Hicks had been playing). He doesn't have much power, but Presley's new team will ensure he gets enough playing time to be an AL-only asset.

Sat Aug 31 201314:40Twins acquire Alex Presley for Morneau
Twins acquired OF Alex Presley and a player to be named later or cash from the Pirates for 1B Justin Morneau.
Presley will get significant playing time with the Twins in September and audition for a starting role in 2014. He's batting .264/.274/.389 with two home runs over 29 games this season, but hit .298/.372/.427 at the Triple-A level. It's an underwhelming return for Morneau. Presley's upside is likely as a fourth outfielder. He's doubtful to hold any fantasy value.

Pirates optioned OF Alex Presley to Triple-A Indianapolis.
The move clears a spot for Andrew Lambo on the active roster. It also means that Starling Marte will avoid a DL trip for now. Presley is batting .264/.274/.389 in 73 plate appearances with the Pirates this season.

Tue Jul 30 201320:16Alex Presley wins game for Pirates
Alex Presley singled off reliever Kevin Siegrist's glove in the bottom of the 11th to give the Pirates a 2-1 win over the Cardinals in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.
The ball deflected off Siegrist's glove past the shortstop, who was going to cover second on the play, allowing Russell Martin to come around from second and score the winning run. Presley went 2-for-5 today and is 3-for-9 since being recalled Monday. He might have some NL-only value unless the Pirates pick up an outfielder or a first baseman before Wednesday's deadline.

Sat Mar 16 201316:38Alex Presley doubles twice, walks twice
Pirates outfielder Alex Presley doubled twice and walked twice against the Twins on Saturday.
Jose Tabata is struggling and Presley is coming on, collecting six hits in his last 16 at-bats. It's probably not going to matter much, since Presley has options and Tabata and Travis Snider don't. As a result, Presley is likely to open the season in Triple-A.
