Beltran had a stage-setting single in a two-run sixth inning that gave New York the lead for good, then provided an insurance run with an RBI double in the seventh. Beltran had the last laugh, however, powering a two-run homer, his ninth of the season and 401st of his career, to provide a pair of insurance runs in the ninth inning.

RF/DH Carlos Beltran moved to the doorstep of another career milestone Wednesday when he homered leading off the second inning of the Yankees' 7-3 loss to the Royals. It was the 399th homer for Beltran, who came within inches of his 400th homer in the eighth but settled for a double when his blast to right bounced off advertising signage at the top of the wall. With his next homer, Beltran will become the fourth switch hitter to hit 400 homers. Mickey Mantle (536 homers) and Eddie Murray (504 homers) are in the Hall of Fame, and Chipper Jones (468 homers) is expected to gain induction when he becomes eligible in 2018. Beltran is batting .261 with seven homers and 15 RBIs in 32 games this season.

RF Carlos Beltran's 15-game hitting streak at Fenway Park ended with an 0-for-4 night Friday. Beltran's streak was the longest active one for a visiting player in the majors. His average dropped to .250 and he is tied for the team lead with four home runs and has driven in nine RBIs through 21 games in the heart of a slumping Yankees batting order. "I really believe that we're going to bust out of this," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said of his team's offensive struggles. "We haven't yet. And I know I keep saying that. But I really believe that in my heart that these guys are going to hit, we're going to score a lot of runs."

Beltran is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

There's not much to make of Beltran missing a start here or there, especially since the Yankees just clinched the playoffs and are playing a doubleheader. The veteran will get some rest while backup second baseman Jose Pirela covers right field.

Beltran went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in a 3-2 win over the White Sox on Thursday.

Beltran got his homer off Chris Sale as a righty and he's the best hitter in the Yankees lineup right now. Usually Beltran is far better against right-handers, but it doesn't matter with how hot Beltran is. Over his last 51 games, Beltran is batting .317 with 11 homers, 12 doubles and 32 RBI.

Beltran went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI in Tuesday's 6-4 victory over the Blue Jays.

Although he is not quite as hot with the bat as he was during a sizzling .353 August, Beltran has nevertheless reached base safely in 18 out of 20 September games. The veteran has also now blasted four homers to go along with 12 RBI in the month, helping him to cap off what has been a nice encore campaign after a rocky first season with the Yankees in 2014.

Beltran went 2-for-4 Saturday with two runs scored and a three-run shot, his 16th home run of the season.

He hasn't been able to maintain the torrid pace he set in August, but Beltran still has three homers, eight runs scored and eight RBI in 17 September games.

Beltran was the Yankees' offense Wednesday, hitting a solo homer and a two-run single in a 5-3 loss to the Orioles.

The rest of the lineup had two hits in total off Ubaldo Jimenez and two Baltimore relievers, so maybe Beltran should have shared his insider info. It's his first extra-base hit in a week, dating back to last Wednesday's homer in Boston, as Beltran's white-hot mid-August run has tapered off into consistent, but unspectacular productivity.

Beltran recorded three base hits and scored a run in Sunday's 20-6 win over the Braves.

It was the second three-hit game of the series for Beltran, who got back on track quickly after seeing his 11-game hitting streak come to an end Saturday. Still, Beltran managed to draw two walks in that hitless game, illustrating his increased comfort at the plate in recent weeks. August will go down as the best month of the season for Beltran, who has slashed an incredible .354/.433/.634 to date.
