Dan Uggla (calf) is back in the lineup Saturday.
Uggla tested out the calf with some running before Saturday's game and pronounced himself good to go. He certainly looked ready at the plate Friday night when he blasted a game-winning, pinch-hit homer in the top of the ninth inning. Uggla is batting just .195 on the year but has 18 homers and 40 RBI.

Wed Jul 20 201101:52Uggla slugs two homers, extends hit streak
Dan Uggla hit a pair of home runs in Tuesday's loss against the Rockies.
Forget for a moment that he's still hitting just .192 on the year. Uggla is riding an 11-game hitting streak in which he's hit .341. He has an .850 OPS in 52 July at-bats, collecting seven extra-base hits this month. Mixed leaguers mine as well ride him while he's hot.

Sat Jul 9 201119:52Uggla homers in win over Phillies
Dan Uggla slugged a solo homer in Saturday's extra-inning win over the Phillies.
It was his 15th home run of the season and his third in the last five games. While he's still batting just .185 on the year, he has registered a hit in five straight. Things are finally looking up.

Wed Jul 6 201122:38Uggla homers for second consecutive game
Dan Uggla went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Atlanta's 9-1 win over the Rockies on Wednesday.
Uggla has now homered in two straight games, and is hitting .183, his best mark since June 12. Uggla has had many false ends to his endless slump this season, but if you're owner that's been keeping him benched, it could again be time to trot him out there and see what happens.

Wed Jun 29 201101:20Uggla goes 1-for-2 with a homer
Dan Uggla went 1-for-2 with a homer, two runs scored, an RBI and a walk Tuesday against the Mariners.
We've been looking for signs of life from Uggla all season, but Tuesday's game comes off a pair of contests where he was 0-for-8. This guy probably belongs in Triple-A and he's now batting .177/.247/.341 on the year. At least he has five homers and 12 RBI in June, probably his best month thus far, despite the fact that his average is below .200.

Sun Jun 26 201101:06Dan Uggla homers, knocks in four
Dan Uggla went 2-for-3 with a homer, four RBI and two walks Saturday against the Padres.
The homer was a meaningless three-run shot in the ninth off a guy who belongs in Triple-A, but his fantasy owners will surely take it. With a .185 average, four homers and 11 RBI so far in June, Uggla might yet have his best month of the season.

Sat Jun 18 201121:56Uggla tallies two RBI, Braves beat Rangers
Dan Uggla went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Saturday's extra-innings loss to the Rangers.
Uggla showed signs of breaking out of his season-long slump earlier this week and got back to that theme on Saturday night. He ripped RBI doubles in the third and eighth inning, improving his OPS to .571 and his total RBI tally to 21. There are signs of life.

Fri Jun 17 201111:04Dan Uggla won't be sent down
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said he and the coaching staff "haven't even had a conversation" about sending Dan Uggla down to Triple-A.
"We haven't reached that point," Gonzalez said. "We haven't even had a conversation about that. This is the first time anybody's even mentioned it. We're trying. He's trying. He's battling. The season's not over with." With an 0-for-5 effort Thursday, Uggla's average sank to .174 for the year. But, the odds of sending him to Triple-A are extremely long, and it's far from a guarantee that it would even help. Uggla should snap out of his funk at some point, but fantasy owners are understandably growing restless.

Thu Jun 16 201100:14Uggla, Braves go quietly
Dan Uggla went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Atlanta's loss to the Mets on Wednesday evening.
The Braves could manage just two hits in a 4-0 loss. Uggla's night throws a little cold water on his recent resurgence, but the signs have still been quite positive over his past few games. Keep him in your lineup unless you have a very viable alternative.

Since hitting his seventh home run on May 15, Dan Uggla is batting .088 with one double and one RBI.
He's 6-for-68 to be exact, and that includes his 1-for-5 performance this evening. Still hitting .170 for the year, Uggla is beginning to veer into "lost season" territory.

Dan Uggla cannot explain why he's been hitting so poorly, but says he will break out of his season-long slump.

Tue May 31 201118:30Struggling Uggla held out of lineup Monday
The struggling Dan Uggla is out of the starting lineup Tuesday against the Padres.
Uggla isn't injured, but Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez wanted to give him the night off to regroup. "Just give him a little breather," said Gonzalez. Uggla is batting just .160 this month and .178 for the year. Brooks Conrad will make the start at second base Tuesday and bat eighth against right-hander Mat Latos.

Sun May 22 201118:38Uggla goes 0-for-4 again
Dan Uggla went 0-for-4 Sunday, dropping his average to .185.
Uggla is now mired in a 2-for-28 slump, adding to the misery that has been his first season in Atlanta. He has struggled in April throughout his career, but this May slump is something concerning. Still, Uggla has hit 30 or more homers in four straight seasons while hitting no worse than .243. Buying low is a solid play.
