Sun May 15 201116:33Uggla takes Halladay deep, dooms Phillies
Dan Uggla tagged Roy Halladay for a go-ahead solo home run in the eighth inning of a 2-2 game on Sunday afternoon, propelling the Braves to a 3-2 win over the Phillies at home.
The bomb was Uggla's seventh of the season, while he also turned in a fourth inning single, raising his average from .196 to .205. He scored all three of the Braves runs. The power has been there for Uggla, so it's hard to believe everything else won't soon follow.

Mon Apr 25 201111:41Uggla in mild slump
Dan Uggla is batting .182 with a .234 on-base percentage through 23 games this season.
Uggla has five home runs, but four of them have been solo shots and his RBI total is still in the single digits. He should be able to get on track eventually.

Mon Apr 4 201117:08Uggla hits second homer, Braves top Brewers
Dan Uggla hit his second home run of the season in Monday's defeat of the Brewers.
Uggla only has three hits in 17 at-bats so far this year, but two of those hits have been homers and his eighth inning shot on Monday afternoon helped the Braves to a late win over Milwaukee. He's going to have another great fantasy season.

Thu Jan 6 201112:37Braves announce $62M extension with Uggla
Braves and 2B Dan Uggla avoided arbitration Thursday by agreeing to a five-year, $62 million contract extension.
He now has the highest annual salary ever for a second baseman, surpassing Chase Utley. Uggla, who turns 31 in March, was arbitration-eligible for the final time this winter. He is coming off a career-best season where he batted .287/.369/.508 with 33 home runs, 105 RBI and an 877 OPS. Uggla is the only second baseman in baseball history to hit 30-plus homers in four consecutive seasons. We have a feeling Uggla won't be a second baseman by the end of this contract, but he's one of the most fearsome right-handed sluggers in the National League, regardless of position.
Tue Jan 4 201120:05Braves sign Uggla for five years, $62 million
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Braves and Dan Uggla have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a five-year, $62 million contract extension.
Uggla turned down a four-year, $48 million extension before the Marlins traded him to the Braves in November, so he ended up doing pretty well to stick to his guns. In fact, he'll now have the highest annual salary for a second baseman ever. Though Uggla isn't a solid defender at the second base position, he has tallied 154 home runs over his first five seasons in the big leagues.

Sun Dec 26 201012:56Report: Uggla, Braves moving toward extension
The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo reports that the Braves and Dan Uggla are moving closer to a contract extension.
Cafardo reported earlier this month that team and player were closing in on a five-year extension worth $60-61 million. Uggla has been holding out for a bit more money, but Cafardo believes a deal will get done in the first week of January.

Thu Dec 16 201014:14Report: Braves, Uggla closing in on extension
The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo reports that the Braves and Dan Uggla are closing in on a five-year extension worth $60-61 million.
If it's $60 million, it would be the same annual salary that the Marlins offered him, but with an extra year added. It's a pretty big contract to give to a guy entering his age-31 season that's likely to change positions soon. However, Uggla should be able to stick at second base for a couple more years and will be able to belt 30 homers no matter what position he's playing. It's been a great offseason for Uggla, who seemed positively thrilled to be traded to Atlanta and now gets a new, fat contract.

Tue Dec 7 201020:40Braves to begin negotiations with Dan Uggla
David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Braves will soon begin serious negotiations on a contract extension with Dan Uggla.
"The early discussions we've had - really just introductory discussions - have been very pleasant," said Braves general manager Frank Wren. "I think there's a mutual desire for us to keep him long-term and for him to stay long-term. I think that's come through loud and clear, both from Terry [Bross, Uggla's agent] and from Dan." Uggla turned down a four-year, $48 million extension from the Marlins, which led to last month's trade to the Braves. The 30-year-old second baseman is arbitration-eligible for the final time this winter.

Mon Dec 6 201017:50Braves, Uggla make progress toward extension
According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Braves and Dan Uggla are making progress toward an extension.
Heyman says Uggla was "thrilled" to be traded to Atlanta and "loves" manager Fredi Gonzalez, who was his skipper for a time with the Marlins. Uggla rejected a four-year, $48 million offer from the Marlins, which led to him being traded. It remains to be seen if he's willing to take a similar deal from the Braves or if he wants more money no matter which team is offering it.

Mon Dec 6 201013:06Braves, Uggla have discussed long-term deal
Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Braves and Dan Uggla have begun discussions toward a contract extension.
The Marlins tried to offer a long-term deal to Uggla before trading him away to Atlanta. It's not clear if he didn't like the deal because he no longer wanted to play in south Florida or because he disapproved of the four-year, $48 million proposal. The 30-year-old infielder batted .287/.369/.508 with 33 home runs and 105 RBI over 589 at-bats this year.

Tue Nov 16 201017:56Braves acquire Dan Uggla from Marlins
Braves acquired 2B Dan Uggla from the Marlins for INF Omar Infante and LHP Mike Dunn.
Uggla is reunited with his former manager Fredi Gonzalez. It isn't yet clear where everyone will play, but Martin Prado will likely play left field if or when Chipper Jones is ready to return from knee surgery. Either way, it's a pretty nice problem to have. Despite being a liability on defense, Uggla packs more punch than any second baseman in the game. They'll likely try to pick up where the Marlins left off as far as a contract extension is concerned.
Tue Nov 16 201017:04Braves to close to landing Uggla from Marlins
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Marlins are discussing a trade that would sent Dan Uggla to the Braves for infielder Omar Infante and left-hander Mike Dunn.
Uggla's salary is going to be sky-high in his final year of arbitration, but this would be a pretty disappointing return for Marlins' fans. Infante is a perfectly capable utility player, but the Braves would be selling him off a career-best season. As for Dunn, he has a chance to be a reliable lefty out of the bullpen, but the Marlins just traded Cameron Maybin off to the Padres for two relievers this past weekend. They have to be able to do better than this, especially to justify a trade within the division.

Tue Nov 16 201008:39Marlins now 'aggressively' shopping Dan Uggla
Joe Frisaro of MLB.com has confirmed that the Marlins are now "aggressively" shopping infielder Dan Uggla.
Uggla re-upping with the Fish is now only a "remote" possibility, according to Frisaro. The power-hitting second baseman has drawn interest so far from the Blue Jays, Nationals and Cardinals, and it seems likely that other teams will at least make offers. It's going to take a valuable package of prospects to land him, but that's the going rate for a highly productive infielder.

Mon Nov 15 201020:20Cards not a good match for Dan Uggla
According to Matthew Leach of MLB.com, a Cardinals' source doesn't see the team as a match for Dan Uggla.
At issue isn't Uggla's potential salary, but rather the cost in prospects. "I would say no at this time," said the source. We've heard conflicting information in regards to what the Marlins may look for in return, though Buster Olney of ESPN.com reported earlier Monday that it likely wouldn't take a blue-chip prospect.
Mon Nov 15 201018:18Report: Nats have interest in Dan Uggla
Bill Ladson of MLB.com has confirmed that the Nationals have interest in trading for Dan Uggla.
According to Ladson, the Marlins are asking for a pitcher and help behind the plate. The Nationals acquired Wilson Ramos from the Twins last July, though he is unlikely to be included in any deal. If healthy, Jesus Flores could be a possibility. Multiple teams are interested in Uggla at the moment, though the Blue Jays are considered the early favorite.

Sun Nov 14 201015:53Report: Blue Jays favorite to land 2B Uggla
ESPN.com's Buster Olney reports that sources are saying the Blue Jays are the favorite to trade for Dan Uggla.
Expect Uggla talk to pick up serious steam starting Monday at the GM meetings. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal previously reported that the Nationals, Tigers, Braves, Red Sox, Cardinals, Giants, Orioles and Blue Jays all had interest in Uggla. The Silver Slugger winner will turn 31 in March and recently turned down Florida's four-year, $48 million extension offer. Uggla is under team control for one more season via salary arbitration.

Sun Nov 14 201010:30Rosenthal: FLA could trade Uggla this week
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal says the Marlins intend to trade Dan Uggla and a deal could be consummated within a week.
Rosenthal lists the Nationals, Tigers, Braves, Red Sox, Cardinals, Giants, Orioles and Blue Jays among the teams that will be after him. He writes that the Marlins are "down the road" with several clubs in trade discussions. Rosenthal also adds that many of the teams are looking at Uggla as an option for third base rather than second. The Silver Slugger winner will certainly be a hot topic at the GM meetings, which begin Monday.

Sun Nov 14 201008:20Plenty of suitors will line up for Uggla
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal lists the Tigers, Nationals, Braves, Cardinals, Giants, Red Sox and Orioles as teams that could have interest in trading for Dan Uggla.
We know that the Tigers have already contacted the Marlins to express their interest, and at least two other unidentified National League teams have done so, as well. Rosenthal mentions the possibility that Uggla could be moved to third base or left field on a new team. Wherever he ends up, we should probably consider it an upset if he plays second base for the duration of a long-term contract. He'll turn 31 in March and is already considered a below average defender at second.

Sat Nov 13 201011:17Are Marlins ready to move on from Uggla?
A source told MLB.com's Joe Frisaro that the Marlins "are not confident" they'll be able to sign Dan Uggla to an extension and have been "initiating and fielding calls" for the second baseman.
Frisaro writes that the Marlins are "prepared to go in another direction." They've had talks with the Tigers, as well as at least two other unidentified National League teams, regarding Uggla. The Marlins are reportedly asking for relief pitching in return for Uggla and are in the market for a catcher, as well. Uggla, who is eligible for free agency after the 2011 season, recently turned down the team's four-year, $48 million extension offer, and the Marlins evidently think they can't go above and beyond that.

Fri Nov 12 201021:28Report: Tigers talk to Marlins about Uggla
According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi, the Tigers have contacted the Marlins to express their interest in Dan Uggla.
Rosenthal and Morosi say the Tigers are "looking everywhere for a power bat," though they prefer a left-handed hitter. Uggla, of course, hits right-handed. Uggla recently rejected a four-year, $48 million proposal from Florida, and the team has, for the time being, broken off negotiations. The Marlins will likely make a decision soon to either sweeten their offer to Uggla or place him on the trade block.
