Tue Jul 29 201417:01Rutledge (ill) out of Rox lineup again Tues.
Josh Rutledge is out of the Rockies' starting lineup again on Tuesday against the Cubs.
Rutledge is battling an upper respiratory infection and could need a few more days off. The infielder has performed well as Troy Tulowitzki's (hip) fill-in at shortstop but obviously needs to be benched for now in fantasy leagues that allow for daily lineup changes.

Sat Jul 26 201401:01Rutledge drives in four in win over Pirates
Josh Rutledge went 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored in an 8-1 win over the Pirates on Friday.
Rutledge got the Rockies on the board with an RBI double in the third inning and later had a bases-clearing double in a seven-run seventh. The 25-year-old has hit .308 with three home runs and 16 RBI over 53 games this season and should get regular playing time over the next two weeks with Troy Tulowitzki on the disabled list. He should be a useful fantasy shortstop in the meantime.

Sat Jun 28 201400:26Rutledge goes 3-for-4, homers in loss to MIL
Josh Rutledge went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Brewers.
The ninth inning bomb was just Rutledge's second home run of the season and his ninth RBI. It tied the game up at 2-2 briefly. Rutledge's would-be heroism was for naught, though, as the Colorado bullpen collapsed in the bottom of the ninth. In 89 ABs, the 25-year old is hitting .308 and doing a nice job in limited ABs.

Sat Jun 7 201421:09Josh Rutledge goes 2-for-4 in rare start
Making his first appearance in 10 days, Josh Rutledge went 2-for-4 with an RBI as the Rockies' second baseman on Saturday.
Rutledge was called up after Nolan Arenado got hurt last month, but the Rockies have refused to play him at third base and haven't found much for him to do at second or shortstop. It's disappointing, since he has played well in his limited action, hitting .286 with a homer in 35 at-bats.

Rockies recalled INF Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
He'll provide extra depth in the Rockies infield with Nolan Arenado on the disabled list. In his earlier stints with the Rockies this season, he hit .318/.375/.500 with a homer and four RBI in 22 at-bats. He's worth a look in mixed leagues if he looks to receive everyday at-bats while Arenado is sidelined.

The home run was Rutledge's first of the season. The second baseman got off to a terrible start last year before being demoted. This season, Rutledge is batting .318/.375/.500 in 22 at-bats since being recalled on April 9. His hot bat may earn him more playing time going forward.

Sun Mar 23 201423:52Rutledge singles, scores against White Sox
Josh Rutledge went 1-for-3 and scored a run as the Rockies and White Sox played to a 5-5 draw in Cactus League action on Sunday.
Rutledge, who is still battling to be the team's starting second baseman, is hitting an impressive .303/.343/.515 on the spring season. Unfortunately for him, his main competition, D.J. LeMahieu, is slashing an equally impressive .316/.381/.395. From a fantasy perspective, Rutledge winning out would be much more appealing.

Josh Rutledge (ankle) went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Wednesday's Cactus League game.
Rutledge wound up missing five days with a left ankle sprain. "It's pretty much 100 percent now," the infielder said Wednesday. "I still tape it for feel for now, but I'll probably stop doing that soon." He is likely to lose the second base competition to D.J. LeMahieu, but Rutledge should still have a spot on the Rockies' Opening Day roster as a utility middle infielder.

Rutledge rolled his left ankle last Friday while doing drills around the second base bag. "That first night it didn't really swell up, but it hurt. It's getting better. I was able to do some light shagging of flyballs," he said Tuesday in camp. "It should be ready in a few more days." Rutledge is competing with D.J. LeMahieu for the starting second base job and with Charlie Culberson and Paul Janish for bench spots.

Josh Rutledge went 1-for-4 with his 12th stolen base of the season in the Rockies 2-1 victory over the Dodgers in Sunday's season finale.
It was tough sledding for the 24-year-old infielder this season, as he was bounced back and forth between the Rockies and Triple-A Colorado Springs. His final line on the season was a disappointing .235/.294/.337 with seven homers, 45 runs, 19 RBI and 12 steals in 285 at-bats. He did however hit .328 (19-for-58) over the final month of the season, which should give him a leg up in the competition to begin the 2014 season as the Rockies starting second baseman.
