Fri Jun 21 201321:45Rutledge has two hits in loss to Nationals
Josh Rutledge went 2-for-3 with a run scored Friday in a loss to the Nationals.
He was also hit by a pitch. Rutledge came into Friday's action with just one hit in 22 at-bats since being called up from the minors, so this was nice to see. His power-speed potential from the middle infield makes him worth owning in deeper mixed leagues.

Wed Jun 19 201323:00Rutledge hitting .045 since being recalled
Josh Rutledge went 0-for-4 on Wednesday, dropping his average to .045 in the five games since being recalled on June 14.
The shortstop was hitting well at Triple-A Colorado Springs before the promotion but his bat has gone ice cold with the big club, as he's just 1-for-22 in the five games. He's also struck out seven times while walking only once. The Rockies don't have many better options while Troy Tulowitzki is out, though, so Rutledge will likely continue to see playing time unless his struggles persist.

Sat Jun 15 201300:46Josh Rutledge homers in loss to Phillies
Josh Rutledge clubbed a two-run homer in Friday's loss to the Phillies.
Rutledge, called up Friday to replace Troy Tulowitzki (rib fracture) on the active roster, batted leadoff and started at second base in his return. He figures to also play some shortstop while Tulo is sidelined, though Jonathan Herrera got the start there Friday night. Rutledge struggled prior to being demoted last month, but his power-speed combo makes him worth picking up in deeper mixed leagues.

Fri Jun 14 201316:54Rockies recall Josh Rutledge from Triple-A
Rockies recalled INF Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Rutledge has played really well since his demotion last month, batting .348/.438/.565 with two homers in 69 at-bats. He figures to fill in for the injured Troy Tulowitzki (rib fracture) at shortstop while D.J. LeMahieu will remain at second base. Go ahead and pick him up in deeper mixed leagues.

Rutledge has batted .348/.438/.565 with two homers in 69 at-bats since his demotion to Triple-A Colorado Springs. He should see regular playing time and is worth scooping up in deeper mixed formats.

Wed May 22 201321:29Rockies send Josh Rutledge down to Triple-A
Rockies optioned 2B Josh Rutledge to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Manager Walt Weiss indicated recently that he was going to stick with Rutledge through his slump, but evidently he had a change of heart. The second baseman sports just a .242/.298/.357 batting line for the season and is hitting only .206/.250/.294 over his last 11 games. The Rox appeared poised to go with D.J. LeMahieu at second base for now.

Thu May 16 201300:31Rutledge delivers three hits in loss to Cubs
Josh Rutledge went 3-for-4 with two RBI in the Rockies' loss to the Cubs on Wednesday.
The second baseman has struggled to find consistency in his first full year, but he's never gotten too low as to play himself out of a job. Rutledge has hit five homers and stolen five bases on the year, and he's actually getting on base at a decent clip given his mediocre batting average. His two RBI Wednesday gives him 13 on the year.

Fri Apr 26 201301:27Rutledge hitless in loss to Diamondbacks
Josh Rutledge went 0-for-3 with a walk Thursday against the Diamondbacks.
The 0-fer snapped a modest five-game hitting streak. While the 24-year-old is hitting just .221 (17-for-77) through 21 games, he has already drawn eight walks. He walked just nine times in 291 plate appearances as a rookie last season.

Wed Apr 10 201319:03Josh Rutledge goes 0-for-4 in loss
Josh Rutledge went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's loss to the Giants, dropping his OBP to .235.
Rutledge's career OBP dropped under .300 today, because while he's a lifetime .271 hitter, he's walked just nine times in 310 at-bats since debuting last year. Ideally, he'll pick it up a bit and justify his presence in the two hole in the Colorado lineup. As is, the team would be better off with Chris Nelson there and Rutledge somewhere near the bottom.

Sat Feb 23 201318:48Rutledge comes out swinging in 2013 opener
Josh Rutledge started his Cactus League campaign on the right foot Saturday, going 3-for-3 with four RBI in the Rockies' 11-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
The 23-year-old is slated to be the Rockies starting second baseman, and Saturday was a good start to his first spring as a full-timer. In 291 plate appearances in 2012, Rutledge hit .274/.306/.469. With a full slate of chances, Rutledge could be a nice source of double-digit homers and steals with a decent batting average in 2013.

Thu Sep 6 201211:01Josh Rutledge to serve as Rockies' regular 2B
Josh Rutledge will be the Rockies' primary second baseman when Troy Tulowitzki (groin) returns.
Rutledge has impressed the Colorado coaching staff in his time filling in for Tulo at shortstop, so they'll keep the 23-year-old as active as possible down the stretch. He is batting .329/.347/.581 with seven home runs and 27 RBI through his first 46 major league games, and should retain his fantasy value in mixed leagues.

Sun Aug 19 201220:09Rutledge still dealing with quad issue
Josh Rutledge was removed from Sunday's game with a left quad injury.
This isn't a new injury. Rutledge was pinch-hit for in the fifth inning due to his ongoing quad issue. The Rockies are without Michael Cuddyer (oblique) and Carlos Gonzalez (bereavement list) and may need to make another move. Eric Young Jr. (intercoastal strain) was also removed from the game.
