Wilin Rosario went 2-for-4 and hit his fifth homer in the Rockies' 6-3 victory over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

At 16/2 in 68 at-bats, Rosario's K/BB ratio is even worse than last year's. However, it hasn't stopped him from hitting .309 or driving in 15 runs. He's already way ahead of last year's pace; he hit just one of his 28 homers last April.

Wilin Rosario, already with three homers this season, stole his first two bases against the Giants on Tuesday.

Both were against a Tim Lincecum-Hector Sanchez battery that isn't very good at stopping basestealers. Of course, Rosario isn't much of a basestealer. He was thrown out on five of his nine attempts last year.

With a full season of plate appearances and playing half his games at Coors Field, the sky is the limit for Rosario in 2013.

Wilin Rosario continued his assault on National League pitching Tuesday, slugging his 27th homer in a 10-5 victory over the Cubs that was shortened due to rain.

Rosario finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored. While his defense may leave something to be desired, the 23-year-old backstop sure can rake. He now owns an impressive .276/.316/.545 batting line on the year with 27 bombs and 70 RBI.

Rockies catching coach Jerry Weinstein said the team has given Wilin Rosario a "laundry list" of drills to perform over the offseason in hopes of improving his defense behind the plate.

"He has a whole laundry list of stuff," Weinstein said. "He has some things to work on that will take more reps." Rosario belted his 26th homer of the season Saturday and is slugging .532 for the year, but he also leads the majors with 20 passed balls. He'll play winter ball in his native Dominican Republic, as well as "get back to basics with drills Weinstein created for him."

Rosario plated Jonathan Herrera with a fourth-inning sac fly before taking Ramon Ramirez deep for a solo home run to lead off the seventh. His 20th bomb of the season was his fourth of the month, and sixth since the All-Star break. That's impressive power for a rookie backstop, especially since eight of Rosario's bombs have come away from Coors Field.

Wilin Rosario homered for the second straight game and 18th time of the year in Friday's loss to the Giants.

Rosario finished the night 1-for-3 with the two-run blast off Ryan Vogelsong in the seventh inning. The impressive 23-year-old backstop is now hitting .244 with 18 homers and 44 RBI in 225 at-bats on the season.

Rosario hasn't played since leaving Friday's game with a left ankle sprain. While a stint on the disabled list looked like a possibility as recently as Sunday, it's not possible he could return to the starting lineup Tuesday.

Updating a previous item, Wilin Rosario was diagnosed with a left ankle sprain in Friday's game against the Padres.

Rosario is listed as day-to-day, and the sprain is reportedly of the "low-grade" variety. Ramon Hernandez figures to replace him in starting lineup Saturday as a precautionary measure.
