Sat Jul 14 201223:32Rosario smashes 15th HR in loss to Phillies
Wilin Rosario smashed his 15th home run of the season in a losing cause against the Phillies on Saturday.
Rosario finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBI. His three-run blast off Brian Sanches in the eighth inning brought the Rockies back to within three at 8-5. While he may lose a few at-bats now that Ramon Hernandez has returned, Rosario has displayed more than enough major league-ready ability to maintain the starting job in Colorado for the remainder of the season. He's now hitting a cool .253 with 15 bombs and 39 RBI.

Mon Jul 2 201223:35Wilin Rosario hits another one out
Wilin Rosario singled and ripped a solo homer in Monday's loss to the Cardinals.
Rosario had a brutal night behind the plate, botching a handful of pitches. But, while his defense will always leave something to be desired, he has some of the best pop in the league for a catcher. Ramon Hernandez is due back in a couple weeks, but it will be hard for the Rox to put Rosario on the bench.

Sat Jun 30 201223:11Rosario hits 13th home run in losing effort
Wilin Rosario belted his 13th home run of the season in Saturday's loss to the Padres.
Rosario has put his impressive power potential on display since taking over the full-time job from the injured Ramon Hernandez. Rosario now leads all MLB rookies with 13 long balls and also has 35 RBI. The 23-year-old has likely done enough to keep the bulk of the playing time upon Hernandez's return.

Thu Jun 14 201218:28Wilin Rosario has nightmare game in loss
Wilin Rosario went 0-for-4 with two passed balls and a throwing error against the A's on Thursday.
Rosario's power is extremely impressive, but at 23, he's still a raw talent. He's currently in an 0-for-16 slump that has dropped his average from .250 to .219.

Tue Jun 5 201201:56Wilin Rosario hits ninth homer for Rockies
Wilin Rosario went 2-for-4 and hit his ninth homer against the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Playing regularly with Ramon Hernandez sidelined, Rosario has hit in seven straight, raising his average from .215 to .248. With nine homers in 105 at-bats, he should already be taken seriously as one of the game's top power threats from the catcher position. His average will probably slip, but he's given the Rockies everything they could have hoped for thus far.

Sun May 6 201202:29Wilin Rosario homers twice for Rockies
Wilin Rosario hit a pair of homers Saturday in the loss to the Braves.
Rosario has a .238 average and just one walk in 41 at-bats, but he's already contributed four homers and three doubles to the cause. He has enough flaws in his approach that he'd probably struggle in an expanded role, but he's been an asset thus far.

Sun Apr 8 201217:34Wilin Rosario homers in loss vs. Astros
Wilin Rosario hit a two-run homer in Sunday's loss to the Astros.
Rosario's only hit of the afternoon came off Bud Norris in the fourth. Coming off a monster spring, Rosario isn't yet an option in standard-sized mixed leagues, but that will change if he continues to hit and Ramon Hernandez struggles.

Sat Apr 7 201212:03Willin Rosario scheduled to start on Sunday
Willin Rosario is scheduled to make his first start of the season Sunday.
Rosario impressed the Rockies' coaching staff this spring with a .418 batting average, three home runs, four doubles and 11 RBI in 19 games. For now, he's a prospect with too many question marks. But he could become more of a factor as he begins to steal at-bats from starter Ramon Hernandez.

Sun Apr 1 201221:14C Rosario makes Opening Day squad
Wilin Rosario has made the Opening Day roster.
Rosario, 23, had a monster spring, posting a .391 batting average with three home runs, four doubles and 11 RBIs in 19 games. Although the top prospect will begin behind Ramon Hernandez, he should carry some value in NL-only leagues and could become a much bigger fantasy factor later in the season as he begins to steal at-bats.

Sun Jan 8 201210:32Wilin Rosario could be Rockies' backup
Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies could use Wilin Rosario as their backup in 2012, giving him 2-3 starts per week.
Rosario, who will turn 23 in February, is the team's catcher of the future but has not had any at-bats above Double-A other than a cup of coffee with the Rockies in September last season. It seems more likely that the Rox will go with Wil Nieves and utilityman Jordan Pacheco as Ramon Hernandez's backups while Rosario gets more seasoning.

Wed Sep 14 201123:35Wilin Rosario hits second home run
Wilin Rosario hit his second major-league homer in Wednesday's win over the Brewers.
The bomb was Rosario's only hit of the night (while he struck out twice in four at-bats), but is still a great sign for a player who displayed a great deal of raw power in the minor leagues. A strong finish for the 21-year-old backstop would likely have the Rockies strongly considering dealing Chris Iannetta in the offseason.

Sat Sep 10 201110:00Wilin Rosario will get regular starts
The Rockies will take a long look at Wilin Rosario down the stretch.
There's no reason not to. Rosario has just two hits in his first 11 at-bats with the Rockies, but one of them is a home run. He's a legitimate power-hitting catcher and could convince the team to deal Chris Iannetta over the offseason if they decide he's ready to take over the starting gig.

Thu Sep 8 201100:38Rosario hits first big league homer
Playing in just his second major league game, Wilin Rosario went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Colorado's loss to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
Rosario homered 40 times in 175 games for Double-A Tulsa the past two years, and is a legitimate power prospect. However, his .249/.284/.457 minor league triple slash this season shows he still has a ways to go in his development as a hitter.

Tue Sep 6 201117:58Rockies recall C Rosario from minors
Rockies recalled C Wilin Rosario from Double-A Tulsa.
Rosario will make his major league debut behind the plate Tuesday night against the Diamondbacks. The 22-year-old backstop batted .249/.284/.457 with 21 homers and 48 RBI over 426 plate appearances at the Double-A level this season. Baseball America recently ranked him as the game's No. 29 prospect on their midseason list. While he may not get significant playing time down the stretch, he is a name to file away for the future.

Sat Sep 3 201109:46Wilin Rosario could join Rox next week
If Double-A Tulsa fails to make the playoffs, Rockies catching prospect Wilin Rosario will be recalled next week.
Tulsa needs to win the rest of their games to reach postseason play, so the odds are good that Rosario will indeed be called up. Although plate discipline can be an issue, Rosario has some thunder in his bat, as evidenced by the 40 homers he's blasted over the last two seasons in 669 at-bats. He would serve as the third catcher, but with the Rockies out of the playoff race, he could get a handful of starts.

Wed Mar 2 201117:26Wilin Rosario progressing from ACL surgery
Rockies catching prospect Wilin Rosario (knee) is expected to be at 100 percent by early April.
The 22-year-old underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee near the end of last season. "I can't wait to get into a game," Rosario said Wednesday. "Right now, [I'm] focused on the recuperation and performing well this season. My goal is to work hard and get to the big leagues. It's the same dream every Minor League player has." He slugged 19 homers last year at Double-A.

Sat Feb 19 201111:11Rosario at 75 percent after knee surgery
Rockies catching prospect Wilin Rosario said his right knee is at about 75 percent after ACL surgery.
"It's not 100 percent, but we'll get there," said Rosario. The top position player prospect in the system, Rosario might stay at extended spring training to rehab before being assigned to Double- or Triple-A. He hit .285 with 19 homers in just 270 at-bats at Double-A Tulsa last season.
