Fri Apr 26 201322:07Young has three hits Friday against Mets
Michael Young went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and a run scored Friday against the Mets.
All three hits were singles. Young only has one home run so far this season, but he's hitting a cool .333 (27-for-81) through 24 games. While his hot start has been aided by a fortunate BABIP (batting average on balls in play), his multi-position eligibility should come in handy in most mixed fantasy leagues.

Fri Mar 8 201319:11Young aiming to improve range defensively
Despite entering the season at age-36, Michael Young believes that he can improve upon his defensive range at third base this season.
He believes that he has discovered a flaw, that he was too high in his setup, causing his first step to be far too slow. While a more explosive first step will help him in the field, the Phillies will need him to step up and deliver solid run production in the middle of the lineup if they plan on competing in the National League East.

Sun Mar 3 201316:04Michael Young hits first spring homer
Michael Young hit his first spring homer Sunday off Baltimore's Chris Tillman.
It initially looked like Young would hit second for the Phillies, but now it appears that he'll occupy either the third or fifth spot initially. Either way, he'll probably be a quality RBI guy, though without the homers or steals to be a particularly good fantasy third baseman.

Sat Dec 29 201216:13Michael Young won't participate in WBC
Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reported Saturday that Michael Young will not be participating in the World Baseball Classic, opting instead to spend the entire spring in camp with the Phillies.
Young was unlikely to be selected for a spot on Team USA, but there had been rumblings that he would suit up for Mexico since his mother is of Mexican descent. Instead, the veteran infielder will use the spring to get himself acclimated to his new team.

Tue Dec 25 201216:17Michael Young to play for Mexico in WBC?
Team Mexico has listed Michael Young as a potential candidate for its World Baseball Classic roster.
Young hasn't committed yet to anything, but he's eligible to play for Mexico because his mother is of Mexican descent and it's not like he'd have a chance of cracking the lineup on Team USA. So the idea does make some sense.

Sun Dec 9 201212:13Phillies pick up Michael Young from Rangers
Phillies acquired INF Michael Young and cash considerations from the Rangers in exchange for RHPs Josh Lindblom and Lisalverto Bonilla.
The deal is official following commissioner Bud Selig's approval. The Rangers are expected to send $10 million to the Phillies to cover the $16 million Young is owed for next season. After playing all over the infield and at DH for Texas the last two years, Young will be Philadelphia's everyday third baseman. He'll be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2012 that saw him bat just .277/.312/.370 with eight homers.

Sullivan writes that the trade could be approved Saturday. After spending his entire career in Texas, Young projects to enter spring training as the Phillies' starting third baseman. The Rangers will save roughly $5 million in payroll that they can use towards signing Zack Greinke, and are expected to receive Josh Lindblom and a prospect in return.

Fri Dec 7 201212:25Michael Young likely to accept trade
While Michael Young hasn't officially decided whether to waive his no-trade clause in order to go to the Phillies, Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com is "getting the vibe it will happen."
The two sides appear to have agreed on the deal and are just waiting for Young's approval. The 36-year-old Young has spent all of his career with the Rangers, but they've reportedly told him that his playing time will be cut in 2013, so he might not mind becoming the Phillies' starting third baseman. The veteran infielder batted just .277/.312/.370 with eight homers this past season.

Thu Dec 6 201209:03Phils in serious talks about acquiring Young
Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com reports that Phillies are in "serious discussions" about acquiring utilityman Michael Young through a trade from the Rangers.
Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News was first to report that two teams were entering "advanced talks," and now Salisbury adds that Young "may be ready" to waive his no-trade clause for a change of scenery. The 36-year-old veteran would presumably start at third base in 2013 for the Phillies. He'll make $16 million next year and then become a free agent next winter.

According to TR Sullivan of MLB.com, the Phillies have "some interest" in Michael Young.
The Phils would use Young at third base. Sullivan says the Rangers "did not come to Nashville looking to move Young," but he believes they will listen to trade proposals. The 36-year-old has a no-trade clause and thus would have to approve any deal. Young batted just .277/.312/.370 with eight homers this past season.

Michael Young was removed from Sunday's game against the Angels with a sore left Achilles' tendon.
This isn't a new injury. Young was noticeably limping after running to first and the Rangers didn't want to take any chances. Adrian Beltre (shoulder) also left Sunday's game, and is day-to-day.
