Sat Oct 29 201117:12Report: Dowling has torn tendon in leg
The Boston Herald reports Patriots CB Ras-I Dowling's hip pain was the result of a torn tendon in his leg.
An MRI taken after Dowling's condition failed to improve during the Patriots' Week 7 bye made the discovery. The injury does not require surgery, and Dowling is expected to be 100 percent healthy in roughly a month. He had been battling the injury since Week 2. Dowling should get a chance to start in 2012, but will enter the season as a huge injury risk.

Sat Oct 29 201115:54Pats surprisingly place CB Dowling on I.R.
Patriots placed CB Ras-I Dowling (hip) on injured reserve, ending his season.
A move that makes the Patriots' Friday release of Leigh Bodden all the more baffling. The No. 33 overall pick in last spring's draft, Dowlling appeared in just two games this season after turning in an injury-plagued senior season at Virginia. He has now dealt with hip, hamstring, knee and ankle injuries the past two years. New England's 32nd ranked pass defense is now down to just Devin McCourty, Kyle Arrington, Antwan Molden and Phillip Adams at cornerback. Ben Roethlisberger could have a career day Sunday.

Sat Oct 1 201120:46Report: NE secondary w/out 2-3 CBs at OAK
Starting RCB Ras-I Dowling (hip) and backup CB Leigh Bodden (groin) will not play in Week 4 against the Raiders, and nickel CB Kyle Arrington is questionable (chest).
New England already allows the NFL's most 20-plus yard completions, and losing 2-3 of their top cover guys will hurt. Denarius Moore is a must-start WR3 with this news, and is also worth a look as a risky WR2 play with upside. Jacoby Ford (hamstring) is questionable and is still an inadvisable play coming off a two-week break, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him produce if he can stay on the field.

Sun Sep 25 201111:51Pats without Dowling, Chung in secondary
Patriots declared CB Ras-I Dowling, SS Pat Chung, DL Albert Haynesworth, WR Taylor Price, TE Aaron Hernandez, RT Sebastian Vollmer, and DL Mike Wright inactive for Week 3 against the Bills.
The Pats are without four key defenders against the highest-scoring team in the league this week. With Hernandez and Vollmer out, Rob Gronkowski, Chad Ochocinco, and rookie OT Nate Solder will be in the spotlight Sunday.

Sun Sep 18 201118:05Dowling out with thigh injury
Patriots CB Ras-I Dowling was forced for Sunday's game against the Chargers with a thigh injury.
His return is officially questionable. Leigh Bodden has stepped in opposite Devin McCourty at cornerback. A surprise Week 1 starter, Dowling had notched one tackle before going down today.

Fri Sep 16 201111:36Rookie CB Dowling surprise starter in opener
Rookie CB Ras-I Dowling was a "surprise" starter opposite Devin McCourty in the season opener.
It's impressive progress for the second-rounder after missing a portion of training camp with a hamstring injury. With the Patriots, it's possible that Dowling's size simply won out for matchup purposes against 6'4" Brandon Marshall. The Dolphins didn't attack Dowling, as McCourty was targeted an NFL-high 15 times in Week 1.
