RHP Erasmo Ramirez was acquired Friday from Tampa Bay for RHP Steve Cishek, with Ramirez returning to the former club (2012-14). "Erasmo brings us a good combination of experience, versatility and control as we look to both be better in 2017, and in future seasons," Mariners executive vice president and general manager Jerry Dipoto said in a news release. "We've added depth to our pitching staff in a variety of ways and maintained flexibility as we move forward with a player that is under club control for 2017, 2018 and 2019." Ramirez (4-3, 4.80 ERA) made eight starts and 18 relief appearances for the Rays this season. He's scheduled to start for the Mariners on Tuesday in Texas, manager Scott Servais said.

RHP Erasmo Ramirez served up a leadoff home run to 2B Ian Kinsler of Detroit but then retired nine in a row before the roof caved in on him in the fourth and fifth innings. The Tigers scored five in each frame to put the game away. "Erasmo came out after the first-inning home run by Kinsler, looked like he was in a fairly crisp, efficient manner, throwing strikes," manager Kevin Cash said. "Their bats just came to life. They had a lot of hard-hit balls. He just threw too much over the white (of the plate). We like our pitchers to attack, attack, attack. And obviously there's a fine line in there, especially against some of these hitters that can hit the ball really hard."

RHP Erasmo Ramirez gave up three runs and 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings in the first game of a doubleheader against the Athletics on Saturday. Ramirez struck out six on 93 pitches (66) in the no-decision.

RHP Erasmo Ramirez suffered his first loss of the season Sunday, allowing four runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings against his former club, the Mariners. Ramirez gave up a two-run homer to Seattle's Nelson Cruz in the first inning. Ramirez has allowed first-inning runs in each of his five starts this season and has a 16.20 ERA in the first.

RHP Erasmo Ramirez (3-0, 3.66 ERA), who is scheduled to start Sunday, is coming off a historic week. Ramirez got a save last Sunday at Minnesota by pitching the 15th inning and started the next day at Texas. He became the first pitcher to do that on consecutive days since Cleveland's Steve Farr on June 9-10, 1984 against Seattle. Ramirez lasted only 2 1/3 innings against the Rangers, his shortest since 2014 while pitching for the Mariners. Rays manager Kevin Cash said Ramirez should be ready to go in the series finale. "He's had a full rest period and got a chance to throw his normal bullpen," Cash said.

RHP Erasmo Ramirez improved to 3-0 with six solid innings, giving up two runs in the first and settling in to allow no more runs the rest of the way. He's transitioned well out of the bullpen -- in his 31 starts with Rays, he's 14-1 when he gets two runs of support or more.

RHP Erasmo Ramirez will take LHP Blake Snell's spot in the Rays' starting rotation after Snell's demotion to Triple-A Durham on Sunday. Ramirez (2-0, 3.18 ERA) gave up one run on two hits with five strikeouts over five innings in his only start this season, a victory against the Tigers on April 20.
