Sat Jun 28 201400:06Scott Van Slyke gets ejected for arguing
Scott Van Slyke was ejected from Saturday's game after the sixth inning for arguing a call at second base.
The Dodgers certainly won't be happy with Van Slyke's behavior, since it "forced" them to put a sore-kneed Andre Ethier in center field. What, did you think they might use Matt Kemp?

Tue Jun 10 201400:29Scott Van Slyke homers twice in victory
Scott Van Slyke went 3-for-3 with two homers and two walks Monday to lead the Dodgers to a 6-2 win over the Reds.
Van Slyke was starting in center again, even though he has the least range of any of the Dodgers' outfielders. But he certainly deserves to be in the lineup somewhere against lefties, as he proved once again. He has six homers and 18 walks in 72 at-bats this season. With 26 strikeouts, too, he's making a run at becoming the game's ultimate Three-True Outcomes performer.

Mon Jun 2 201418:35Van Slyke starting in CF for Dodgers
Scott Van Slyke is starting in center Monday for the Dodgers against the White Sox in place of Andre Ethier.
Matt Kemp will remain in left field. Van Slyke mainly plays against lefties (tonight's is Jose Quintana) and Dodgers manager Don Mattingly is doing anything he can to put the Dodgers in a decent position defensively. Evidently he feels that Van Slyke is a better option in center than Kemp, which is highly debatable. Los Angeles has been a disaster on defense, piling up 44 errors in 58 games.

Sat May 17 201401:07Scott Van Slyke homers, doubles
Scott Van Slyke homered and doubled off Wade Miley in Friday's win over the Diamondbacks.
Van Slyke is on pace for 12 homers and 12 doubles this year... off Wade Miley. Three of his four homers and three of his five doubles have come against the Arizona left-hander, who originally faced the Dodgers in the Australia series. Van Slyke only plays against lefties, but what a job he's done against them so far.

Fri May 2 201400:23Van Slyke hits go-ahead HR in Dodgers' win
Scott Van Slyke went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, two walks, a triple, and a go-ahead solo home run as the Dodgers beat the Twins in 12 innings on Thursday.
A productive night for Van Slyke, who has been limited mostly to left-handed pitchers given his vast platoon splits. His 12th-inning solo home run off of Brian Duensing broke a 2-2 tie and pushed the Dodgers to victory. He also became the first Dodger to homer, triple, and steal a base in the same game since Marlon Anderson on September 18, 2006. Van Slyke is now slashing .306/.419/.722 in 43 plate appearances.

Sat Mar 22 201407:54Van Slyke powers Dodgers over D-Backs
Scott Van Slyke went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a double, and a walk in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks in the season opener in Australia.
Starting in left field with Carl Crawford on the paternity leave list, Van Slyke unexpectedly led the charge for the offense. His two-run homer in the fourth inning sliced just inside the right field foul pole. We're not expecting much from him once the Dodgers' outfield is back to normal, but he's capable of being a useful bench bat for Don Mattingly.

Thu Oct 3 201321:50Van Slyke, Gordon have 'messed around' in CF
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Thursday that he's "messed around" with Scott Van Slyke and Dee Gordon in center field during batting practice.
The Dodgers are using Skip Schumaker in center field with both Matt Kemp (ankle) and Andre Ethier (ankle) unable to play the field, but they're preparing some possible backup options. Mattingly said that Van Slyke is the "more viable option," while Gordon could be used "in an emergency." Carl Crawford and Yasiel Puig have experience in center field, but Mattingly wants to keep them at the corner spots.
