It's rather bizarre that the Dodgers have talked about promoting Yasiel Puig or Joc Pederson when Van Slyke has three homers and now two doubles in five starts for the club. He's not a great long-term bet, but he's been on fire at the plate all year long.

Van Slyke, 26, was hitting .397/.503/.733 with nine homers and a 1.236 OPS in 34 games at Triple-A this season. He'll provide depth between first base and the outfield.
