Athletics optioned INF Grant Green and OF Michael Taylor optioned to Triple-A Sacramento. |
Green had an outside shot for an Opening Day roster spot, but will be sent down to get everyday at-bats in the minors. The Athletics also reassigned RHP Brian Gordon, C David Freitas, 1B Scott Moore, INF Dawrin Perez, and OF Michael Choice to minor league camp. |

Sun Jan 27 2013 | 19:03 | Grant Green to get 'hard look' at second base |
Athletics manager Bob Melvin said he plans to give Grant Green "a hard look" at second base in spring training. |
A 2009 first-round pick, Green batted .296/.338/.458 with 15 homers and 13 steals at the Triple-A level in 2012. While the Athletics have had trouble finding him a position, he should have an outside chance at cracking the Opening Day roster and will likely make his major league debut at some point in 2013. |

Sat Jul 16 2011 | 09:20 | Grant Green moved to CF |
The A's have moved prospect Grant Green from shortstop to center field. |
The Futures Game MVP didn't show enough at shortstop to convince the A's that he could stay there on a permanent basis, so they decided to make a move. Green has batted .286/.348/.398 with four homers and 40 RBI in 50 games with Double-A Midland this season. The move to the outfield could fast track his promotion to the big leagues. |

Fri May 7 2010 | 13:35 | A's prospect Green goes 5-for-5 |
Grant Green went 5-for-5 with a double Thursday for Single-A Stockton. |
Green, the 13th overall pick in last year's draft, isn't off to a great start, despite the .297 average. He's struggled versus righties, he has a 25/5 K/BB ratio, he's slugging a modest .407 and he's been caught on three of his four steal attempts. A polished college product out of USC, he should have better than a 732 OPS in the California League. |
Sun Apr 11 2010 | 13:45 | A's prospect Green collects three hits |
Single-A Stockton's Grant Green had a second straight three-hit game Saturday. |
He tripled and doubled in his five at-bats. Green, a first-round pick last year, had a case for opening the season in Double-A, but the A's have a crowded infield situation in the upper minors. The 22-year-old shouldn't have a whole lot of trouble with California League pitching over the first two or three months of the season. |
