More specifics aren't available, but we're guessing he's just doing some long-toss to this point. It's not clear how far he is away from a return to the Padres rotation, but it seems doubtful we'll see him before the end of the month.

Sun Jun 24 201214:21Shoulder injury sends Anthony Bass to DL
Padres placed RHP Anthony Bass on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 21, with right shoulder inflammation.
Bass reported improvement with his shoulder Saturday, but he's still not healthy enough to make his scheduled start Tuesday. It's not clear at this point how long he'll be sidelined. The Padres haven't announced a replacement for Tuesday, but Matt Palmer, Anthony Reyes and Kip Wells are options at Triple-A.

Sun Jun 24 201212:17Padres yet to make decision on Anthony Bass
The Padres have not yet decided whether Anthony Bass (shoulder) will make his scheduled start Tuesday.
Bass said his shoulder was "feeling better" Saturday, but that might not be enough to convince the Padres he's ready. "Now we're nearing the point where we need to make a decision on Tuesday's starter," said manager Bud Black. "Anthony's getting treatment, so we'll see how it plays out. We want to avoid the disabled list." Andrew Cashner isn't under consideration, as he just pitched Saturday. Matt Palmer, Anthony Reyes and Kip Wells are options at Triple-A.

Anthony Bass allowed four runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings of Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Brewers.
Bass struck out six and walked three in falling to 2-6. His biggest mistake of the afternoon came in the sixth, where he served up a three-run homer to Martin Maldonado. Bass has now allowed at least four runs in four consecutive starts, ballooning his ERA from 2.89 to 4.38. He'll get the A's in Oakland next weekend.

Wed May 30 201218:04Anthony Bass gives up five runs to Cubs
Anthony Bass yielded five runs in 4 2/3 innings Wednesday in a no-decision versus the Cubs.
Bass has gotten roughed up in back-to-back outings, taking his ERA from 2.89 to 4.00. We still like him in NL-only leagues, and the Padres have little choice to be patient with him after losing a couple of starters due to injury.

Fri May 25 201221:55Bass struggles, allows six runs to Mets
Anthony Bass allowed six runs on eight hits and three walks over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Mets on Friday night.
It was just the second time in nine starts this season where he allowed more than three runs. Bass, who entered the game with a 2.89 ERA, now has a 3.55 ERA and 1.23 WHIP on the year. He'll look to bounce back next week against the last-place Cubs.

Sat May 5 201201:34Anthony Bass gives up six runs to Marlins
Anthony Bass gave up six runs in six innings of work Friday in a no-decision against the Marlins.
It's a lot better than it sounds: Bass rebounded nicely after a five-run first that included homers from Hanley Ramirez and Giancarlo Stanton, and not only was he much better on the mound, but he played a huge role in the team's rally with a three-run triple in the third and a single and a run scored in the fifth. Bass remains a nice play in NL-only leagues.

Sun Apr 29 201200:59Bass goes eight strong in loss
Anthony Bass was a hard-luck loser Saturday after holding the Giants to two runs in eight innings.
Bass continued his impressive early-season run, fanning eight batters without issuing a walk and needing only 90 pitches to get through eight whole innings of work. The 24-year-old right-hander now has a 2.30 ERA and 1.02 WHIP on the year, and is looking like a must-own in all fantasy formats.

Sun Apr 22 201218:54Anthony Bass very solid in dream spot
Anthony Bass picked up his first win of the season by holding the Phillies to one run -- zero earned -- over six innings Sunday.
Making his sixth career start, Bass was handed a dream spot as he got to face one of baseball's worst offenses in the spacious confines of Petco. He was a little wild at the start and ended up walking five, but also struck out seven and yielded just three hits. Bass will have another decent spot in San Francisco next time out.

Fri Apr 13 201201:47Anthony Bass solid in spot start
Anthony Bass yielded one run in 4 1/3 innings Thursday in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks.
Bass could prove to be pretty valuable if he's able to stick in the Padres rotation. He's taking Tim Stauffer's spot at the moment, but with Dustin Moseley's status up in the air, the possibility exists that he's in for the long haul.

Sun Apr 8 201208:22Bass could to fill in for Stauffer
Anthony Bass is the leading candidate to fill a rotation spot for the Padres until Tim Stauffer (elbow) returns.
The Padres will keep everyone on regular rest, so they won't need a fifth starter until April 14. It's unclear, though, if Stauffer will be ready by then. Bass, who had a 1.68 ERA and 1.28 WHIP last season, isn't a bad option as a fill-in, but Michah Owings, who pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings Friday, is also an option.

Sun Apr 1 201217:28Bass makes San Diego's Opening Day roster
Anthony Bass had made San Diego's Opening Day roster.
He announced the news on his Twitter account. Bass had a 1.68 ERA and 1.28 WHIP last season, but also just a 24/21 K/BB ratio over 27 games -- three starts -- this season. Bass will begin the year in the 'pen, but could head to the rotation full-time later on in the year. Consider him a deep sleeper in deeper NL-only formats.

Wed Sep 28 201101:49Bass pitches five innings of one-run ball
Anthony Bass pitched five innings of one-run ball Tuesday versus the Cubs.
He struck out two and walked a pair in the no-decision. Bass ends the year with a sterling 1.68 ERA and 1.28 WHIP, but also just a 24/21 K/BB ratio over 27 games -- three starts -- this season. There's a good chance that he'll have an opportunity to compete for a rotation spot next spring.

Sun Sep 25 201114:08Anthony Bass to start Tuesday
Anthony Bass will make another start Tuesday against the Cubs in place of Tim Stauffer (forearm).
Bass fared well last week while filling in for Stauffer, tossing five scoreless innings versus the Rockies. He holds a 1.66 ERA and 1.27 WHIP but also a 22/19 K/BB ratio over 26 games -- two starts -- this season. He could be worth a spot start in NL-only formats.
