Sun Jul 11 201019:18Jays' Romero to start first game after break
Jays Starter Ricky Romero will start the first game after the break according to manager Cito Gaston.
Gaston said that the rotation would begin with Ricky Romero, go to Brandon Morrow, and finish the series with Shaun Marcum. That's an interesting group of young arms with a lot of upside. It's good to see Marcum is healthy, too. If Romero can continue to rack up strikeouts and keep the ball on the ground, he'll be a strong fantasy pitcher in the second half.

Sat Jul 3 201016:04Eight-run inning sinks Romero vs. Yanks
Ricky Romero was hammered for a career-high eight runs over 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the Yankees on Saturday afternoon.
It was the shortest outing of his brief major league career. All eight runs scored in an 11-run third inning, the big blow of which was a grand slam by Brett Gardner. Romero gave up seven hits while walking two and striking out three. His ERA jumped from 2.83 to 3.39 in the loss. The young left-hander will wrap up the first half with a start against the Red Sox next week.
Sat Jun 5 201017:26Romero takes no-decision vs. Yanks
Ricky Romero yielded two runs over eight innings, but was handed a no-decision against the Yankees on Saturday afternoon.
His lone mistake was a two-run homer by Derek Jeter in the fifth inning, but it was enough to keep him out of the win column. Romero held the Yankees to just five hits while walking four and fanning seven. He induced 10 groundballs in the no-decision. The young left-hander currently ranks second in the American League with 79 strikeouts. He's slated to face the Rockies next week.
Wed May 26 201000:49Jays' Romero roughed up by Angels
Ricky Romero was tagged for seven runs in 5 1/3 innings by the Angels on Tuesday.
Romero struck out eight even in an off night. Both of his losses this season have come against the Angels, though he actually allowed just one run over eight innings in the first defeat. He's 4-2 with a 3.42 ERA.
Thu May 20 201018:26Romero solid, but win ruined by Kevin Gregg
Ricky Romero limited the Mariners to one run over 6 2/3 strong innings Thursday, but was left with a no-decision.
Romero was great, but his bid for a win was spoiled when Kevin Gregg coughed up three runs in the ninth inning to the M's. The left-handed Romero stands 4-1 on the year with a 2.71 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP and 64 strikeouts in 63 innings. He's a must-start in all leagues no matter the matchup.
Sat May 15 201015:48Romero K's 12 in complete-game shutout
Ricky Romero struck out 12 in his first career complete-game shutout as part of a 6-0 win over the Rangers on Saturday afternoon.
Brilliant. The 12 strikeouts matched a career-high from his one-hitter on April 13. This outing was equally as impressive. He limited the Rangers to just five hits -- all singles -- while walking just one. The young left-hander has a 2.88 ERA through his first eight starts and leads the American League with 59 strikeouts. He's a must-own across all formats.
Tue May 4 201022:44Romero K's 9, allows 5 ER's in win
Ricky Romero struck out nine and allowed five earned runs over six innings Tuesday against the Indians but improved to 3-1.
Good ol' run support. Romero wasn't bad, walking two and striking out nine. But he was hittable, allowing nine. Despite the runs, his ERA still sits at a sparkling 3.00 while he's posted a 1.07 WHIP. He should be owned in every league.
Thu Apr 29 201021:56Jays' Romero throws six innings in win
Ricky Romero yielded three earned runs over six innings Thursday against the Blue Jays but collected his second win of the season.
Romero still managed to rack up six strikeouts, but he had trouble locating his pitches and wound up issuing four walks on the evening. He's now 2-1 on the year with a 2.25 ERA and 0.94 WHIP. There's no reason he shouldn't owned in every league, especially with the Indians up next.
Sun Apr 18 201015:32Romero strong but Jays fall to Angels
Ricky Romero limited the Angels to just one run in eight innings on Sunday but took the loss in a 3-1 affair.
Romero gave up just five hits and two walks, both to Reggie Willits, while striking out six. He looked quite strong while changing speeds often and outside of some momentary lapses showed excellent command. If Romero can continue to limit the number of walks he issues it's easy to envision significant mixed league value. He'll try to do it again in a tough matchup against the Rays next time out.
Tue Apr 13 201021:28Romero pitches within six outs of no-hitter
Ricky Romero tossed seven innings of no-hit ball Tuesday against the White Sox before allowing two runs in the eighth.
Romero led the Jays to a 4-2 win with the stellar performance. He allowed just one hit in all -- an Alex Rios two-run blast -- and racked up a career-high 12 strikeouts. The 25-year-old lefty has a 1.80 ERA and 0.67 WHIP on the year and should be grabbed in all fantasy formats.
Thu Apr 8 201017:13Jays' Romero strong for seven innings
Ricky Romero tossed seven innings and allowed just one run Thursday versus the Rangers.
The Jays have to be thrilled with how their pitching held up in the series against the Rangers. They used just seven pitchers in the series and gave up 10 runs -- eight earned -- while winning two out of three games.
