Santiago threw seven strong innings, giving up two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out five batters in a 4-3 loss to the Royals on Sunday.
The 27-year-old bounced back after a rough first inning in which he allowed two runs, letting four runners reach base the rest of the game. Santiago continued his strong season, bumping his ERA down to 2.86 with a 1.15 WHIP and now sports a 131:44 K:BB ratio through 141.2 innings. While the home run numbers aren't particularly pleasing (20 allowed through Sunday) it's clear the lefty is having the best season of his career. Santiago will take the mound against the Blue Jays in a home start next.

Santiago took the loss Tuesday, allowing three runs in 5.1 innings pitched against the White Sox.
After cruising into the All-Star break, Santiago has now completed six innings in just one of his five starts since then. Even with his recent swoon, Santiago still will bring a 2.87 ERA into his start against the Royals this weekend.

Santiago allowed three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven, in a no-decision against Cleveland on Wednesday.
Santiago was in line for the loss until the Angels offense came up with three runs in the bottom of the ninth. Despite a solid 2.78 ERA and 1.18 WHIP, this was the first time in four outings that the lefty posted a quality start. His next start would be Tuesday at Chicago, but Jered Weaver's possible return from the disabled list could change that.

Santiago (7-5) struggled on Friday, allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out three in a 5-3 loss to the Dodgers.
Santiago has been struggling to go deep in games as of late, as he's only gone five innings in three straight. The length shouldn't be a worry though as he has exceeded 93 pitches in eight prior outings to this one. Even with that, he maintains a 2.70 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 20 starts. His next start comes on Wednesday against the Indians.

Santiago (7-4) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits, with three walks and four strikeouts over five innings a no-decision against the Rangers on Saturday.
Santiago broke a streak of five outings with one or fewer runs allowed, but he's now allowed 17 baserunners in just 10 innings over his last two outings. The 27-year-old's peripherals suggest owners should be weary of regression, as Santiago's 3.82 FIP is significantly higher than his 2.43 ERA. On the other hand, the right-hander usually outpitches his FIP by about a run, and he sports a solid 8.52 K/9 to boot. Santiago will look to get over his recent hiccup when he faces the Dodgers on the road Friday.

Santiago worked hard for his win Monday, holding the Red Sox to one run in five innings.
The short outing was due to eight hits allowed and a season-high 10 strikeouts for the All-Star hurler. Santiago has been sensational this season, and now owns a sparkling 2.30 ERA. His next start will come this weekend against the Rangers.

Santiago will pitch the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
With Sunday's game called off because of rain, Santiago will just move back a day. He'll still be opposed by Boston's Eduardo Rodriguez.

Santiago (6-4) allowed one run on eight hits over seven innings Friday in Seattle, striking out seven without a walk to pick up the win.
Santiago continued his recent hot streak by turning in his fourth straight start of at least six innings and one or fewer runs allowed. While his 88.9 percent strand rate is bound to come back to earth at some point, Santiago's 17-start sample heading into All-Star break shows that he can be effective despite generating groundballs at the lowest rate in the majors. The 27-year-old has never thrown more than 149 innings in a season, so he could face workload concerns down the line, considering he's already logged 108.1 innings in 2015.

Santiago shut the Rangers out for seven innings Saturday while striking out three and walking one en route to his fifth win of the season.
Santiago continued his emergence as one of the better pitchers in the American League Saturday, lowering his ERA to 2.40. The 27-year-old has now allowed just two runs in his last three starts, and has not allowed a home run in his last two outings. He will look to continue the run of success when he faces the Rockies in Colorado on Wednesday.

Santiago threw seven innings of one-run ball against the Mariners on Sunday, giving up three hits and striking out six en route to a no-decision.
Santiago held his own in a battle with Felix Hernandez, but gave way to Joe Smith with the game tied at one in the top of the eighth. The 27-year-old has been more valuable than the Angels or fantasy owners could have hoped for, as he has not walked more than two batters in any of his last five starts, and has not allowed more than three earned runs in a contest over that span. Santiago came into Sunday's game with the lowest ground ball rate (28.8%) of any qualified pitcher in baseball, which could help to explain his 1.3 HR/9 rate, but it's hard to complain about this kind of production from a pitcher who likely was sitting on the waiver wire for most of the season in all but the deepest of leagues. He will take a 2.58 ERA into his next outing against the Rangers next weekend.

Santiago took a no decision despite a quality start Monday against the Angels, as he gave up just one run on two hits and a walk over six innings.
Santiago needed 106 pitches to get through six innings and struck out four batters. But Santiago's main weakness continues to be the home run ball; the only run came on a Domingo Santana home run, the 13th Santiago has allowed in just 87.1 innings (1.3 HR/9). Given Santiago's 28.8 percent ground ball rate, the home run will likely continue to plague him this season.

Santiago gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out nine in five innings Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
Santiago is winless in his last four starts -- all starts in which he's never made it through six innings. That being said, he still has a respectable 2.77 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP and an 8.63 K/9 for the season. He'll have another shot against Houston in his next scheduled start Monday.

Santiago struck out six and walked one while holding the A's to two runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings in a no-decision Friday night.
Fighting his command at time, Santiago threw a first-pitch strike to just 12 of the 25 batters he faced. A pair of homers did most of the damage against him in Friday's start, while the 10 long balls he's allowed in 76.1 innings this season has been the greatest blemish in an otherwise strong 2015 campaign. Santiago will oppose the D-backs in Arizona on Wednesday in his next scheduled start.

Santiago will get a couple extra days off before taking the ball Friday against the A's, the Los Angeles Times' Mike DiGiovanna reports.
He was originally scheduled to pitch Wednesday, but the Angels can afford to rest him a couple extra days because of how the schedule shakes out. This will give him eight days between starts, which should allow for the lefty to be extra fresh for his next outing.

Santiago was touched up for five runs and five hits in five-plus winnings Wednesday against the Rays. He struck out three and walked two in the no-decision.
After getting staked to a 4-0 lead with Mike Trout's solo homer in the first, Albert Pujols' RBI single in the second, and Johnny Giavotella's two-run shot in the fourth, Santiago gave up all five of his runs in the fifth inning without recording a single out. Santiago started the inning hitting Brandon Guyer before giving up a two-run shot to Joey Butler. He then gave up a single to Evan Longoria and a walk to Logan Forsythe before Steven Souza Jr. drove the ball to left field for a three-run home run. Santiago will have a chance at redemption when he takes the mound again against the Rays in his next start Wednesday.

Santiago (4-3) delivered 7.1 shutout innings in Friday's win over the Tigers, striking out seven while allowing just three hits and three walks.
The 27-year-old lefty has starred early on for the Angels, as he's now lowered his ERA to 2.18 while increasing his strikeout rate over last year. However, Santiago still walks a few too many batters, and he's benefited from unsustainably friendly luck in terms of BABIP and strand rate. His peripherals aren't that different from their solid-but-unspectacular norms, so there's profit potential here if you can trade him to an owner who's buying into a full-on breakout. Santiago next goes Wednesday against the Rays.

Santiago allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out six in 6.2 innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Sunday.
Santiago gave the Angels everything he had in the outing, throwing a career-high 123 pitches before departing in the seventh. The 27-year-old may never be the most efficient pitcher in a rotation, but he has thrown the ball well to begin the season, notching a 2.47 ERA in his first nine starts. He will look to continue his run of success when he takes on the Tigers on Friday.

Santiago gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts in seven innings Tuesday against Toronto en route to picking up his third win of the season.
Santiago was filling up the zone with his four-pitch mix, handling a Jays lineup that usually feasts on left-handed pitching. His ERA now sits at 2.25 and while he can be prone to games where he walks a handful of batters, Santiago's run prevention so far this season has been excellent.

Santiago pitched six innings of seven-hit ball, giving up only one run while striking out eight in six innings Wednesday against the Rockies.
Santiago fanned seven of the Rockies' first 13 batters, but Colorado strung three consecutive singles in the fourth, with Drew Stubbs driving in Wilin Rosario. With the score tied at 1-1, Santiago left the game and did not figure in the decision. His next start will be at Toronto on Tuesday.

Santiago allowed no runs, one hit and four walks while striking out five in a no-decision Thursday against the Astros.
Santiago was charged with balks in the third and fourth innings, but escaped each jam unscathed. Prior to this outing, he had committed three balks in 380.2 innings in the big leagues. After striking out Jason Castro to open the seventh, Santiago left the game with a 1-0 lead, but closer Huston Street couldn't clinch the save. Santiago will give it another go in his next scheculed start Wednesday against Colorado.
