Wed Jul 16 2014 | 13:57 | Mavs-Wiz close to sign-and-trade for Blair |
The Mavericks and Wizards are close to completing a sign-and-trade for Mavericks' center DeJuan Blair. |
Blair only averaged 6.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 0.3 blocks in 16 minutes per game last year, but managed to show flashes of promise during the Mavericks' thrilling first-round series against the Spurs. Blair's role with the Wizards will most likely be limited, but with an injury-prone Nene entering his 13th season, Washington needs quality depth in the front court. |

Sun Jul 13 2014 | 23:24 | Report: Wizards in talks for DeJuan Blair |
The Mavericks and Wizards are reportedly in "advanced discussions" about a sign-and-trade which would send DeJuan Blair to Washington. |
It's unclear what the Mavericks would receive as compensation for Blair. |

Fri May 2 2014 | 22:58 | Blair returns to action in a big way on Fri |
DeJuan Blair returned from his one-game suspension in Friday's Game 6 win, scoring 10 points on 3-of-10 shooting with 14 rebounds and four steals in 29 minutes. |
Clearly Rick Carlisle has found his preferred big man for this series and Blair's hands have been a big part of that on the defensive end. |

Thu May 1 2014 | 09:08 | Mavericks miss DeJuan Blair in Game 5 loss |
Dirk Nowitzki said after Wednesday's Game 5 loss that the Mavericks missed DeJuan Blair (suspension). |
Blair missed Wednesday's Game 5 loss due to a suspension for kicking Tiago Splitter during Game 4 and his absence was evident. "We're going to need his ability to fight. I thought he really brought some fight to the last game, especially when we were down by 20. I thought he changed the momentum a little bit," Dirk Nowitzki said of Blair. "We're going to need everybody on board and let it all rip on Friday again." Blair's 12 points and 11 boards off the bench in Game 4 helped bring energy to a Mavericks team that was down by 20 at one point and his Game 6 return should help infuse some life into the Mavericks as they try to even up the series. |

Tue Apr 29 2014 | 19:41 | DeJuan Blair gets a one-game suspension |
DeJuan Blair has been suspended one game for kicking Tiago Splitter on Monday. |
He won't play in Game 5 on Wednesday and the Mavericks shouldn't have a tough time replacing him. While he did go for 12 points and 11 boards in Game 4's loss, he played just three minutes in Saturday's Game 3 win. |

Tue Apr 29 2014 | 09:52 | DeJuan Blair says kick was unintentional |
DeJuan Blair said the kick that got him ejected from Monday's loss to the Spurs was unintentional. |
Blair was ejected during the fourth quarter of Monday's Game 4 loss to the Spurs after his foot connected with Tiago Splitter's head following a foul. No one is arguing the foot to the head part, but Blair and Splitter had very different takes on the situation. For his part, Blair denied any intention on the kick, "It was just an accident," Blair said. "I reacted to the call and his face happened to be down there. It was nothing intentional, especially the way I had been playing. Tiago Splitter, however, wasn't buying Blair's explanation after the game. "After watching the video, it looks like it was intentional," he said. "He has nothing against me. He's a good kid. I know him. I don't know why he did it." We'll let the league sort this one out, but Blair has provided the Mavs with excellent energy off the bench and a potential Game 5 suspension would push Brandan Wright and Samuel Dalembert into more prominent roles. |

Tue Apr 29 2014 | 00:54 | Blair out of nowhere w/ 12 and 11 in G4 loss |
DeJuan Blair came out of nowhere to post 12 points on 5-of-5 shooting with 11 rebounds and two steals in 16 minutes off the bench in the Mavs' 93-89 Game 4 loss to the Spurs on Monday. |
Blair also got ejected for kicking Tiago Splitter in the head lightly late in the fourth quarter, and we'll let you know if there will be any further action. Dirk Nowitzki hit just 7-of-19 shots for 19 points, Shawn Marion was quiet with four points and seven boards, and the bench duo of Devin Harris and Vince Carter combined to hit just 4-of-16 shots. Monta Ellis scored 20 points but needed 20 shots to get there, and the Mavs squandered a big chance to jump all over the Spurs. Instead, they head to San Antonio tied up with Game 5 on Wednesday. |

Thu Apr 24 2014 | 10:34 | Rick Carlisle pleased w/ DeJuan Blair's play |
Mavericks' coach Rick Carlisle was pleased with DeJuan Blair's play Wednesday night. |
Blair provided an energy boost with eight points and eight boards in fifteen minutes during Dallas' Game 2 victory Wednesday night and Rick Carlisle was a big fan of his play, ""He had a physical impact," Carlisle said. "He gave us a huge lift. He was on the boards, he got deflections. The only way we win a series against a team like this is to have guys play at full capacity, and he did that." Blair's playing time is certain to fluctuate going forward as the Mavs try to work in Brandan Wright and Samuel Dalembert, but he should serve as a good energy player against his former team for the rest of the series. |

Wed Mar 12 2014 | 01:24 | DeJuan Blair goes for 8 & 8 in 15 minutes |
DeJuan Blair came off the bench and hit 3-of-10 shots for eight points and eight rebounds in 15 minutes of Tuesday's ugly loss against the Warriors. |
Brandan Wright also came off the bench for nine points, six rebounds and a block in 16 minutes, while starter Samuel Dalembert had eight points and five boards in 20 minutes. This is an ugly three-headed monster, and it's best to just let Rick Carlisle deal with the headache, instead of trying to figure it out on your own from night to night. |

Fri Feb 21 2014 | 23:23 | DeJuan Blair scores 18 points vs. Philly |
DeJuan Blair scored 18 points with four boards and one block on 7-of-9 shooting against the Sixers on Friday. |
The Sixers interior defense was so bad tonight that it made their defense before the trade deadline look like the Pacers' D. Blair's line came in just 16 minutes, so you can just ignore him for now. |

Mon Jan 20 2014 | 16:01 | DeJuan Blair scores 13 points vs. Cavs |
DeJuan Blair started hot in his 21 minutes against the Cavs on Monday, finishing with 13 points and five boards on 5-of-7 from the field. |
He made his first five shots and scored 11 points in the first half. Blair looks like he's going to see more playing time with Samuel Dalembert going down with a shoulder strain today. The Mavericks have run a lot of different lineups out there, Blair has not played 30 minutes in a game all season and he's played just 17.7 minutes per game in January, but he's still a solid low-upside add in some leagues. |

Sun Jan 12 2014 | 01:38 | DeJuan Blair gets bumped to six minutes |
DeJuan Blair played just six minutes against the Pelicans on Saturday. |
He only grabbed one rebound and didn't take any shots in the win. Blair has been bumped from the starting lineup and the Mavericks have suddenly been rewarded with the good Samuel Dalembert. Fantasy owners in deep leagues can probably start looking to dump Blair. |

Sat Jan 11 2014 | 00:50 | DeJuan Blair plays 25 minutes off bench |
DeJuan Blair played 25 minutes off the bench against the Pelicans on Friday, scoring two points with five boards and two assists. |
He shot just 1-of-5 from the field and didn't look very comfortable off the bench. Blair was bumped to the bench tonight in favor of Sam Dalemebert, but it's unclear if this lineup will stick. Regardless, his upside won't be too high in fantasy leagues considering he'll be in a timeshare at best. |

Wed Jan 8 2014 | 02:09 | DeJuan Blair plays well in another start |
DeJuan Blair started again at center for the Mavericks on Tuesday and played well, finishing with 15 points, nine rebounds and a steal on 7-of-10 shooting. |
A block would have been nice, but that's not really his bag. He's now started two straight games and might stick there for awhile. Samuel Dalembert has fallen out of favor and the Mavs don't seem ready to give Brandan Wright more than just a handful of minutes every night. None of these three are must-own players, but Blair is clearly the hot hand, and one we'd recommend grabbing for now, followed by Wright, who is at least efficient despite his shaky minutes. |

Sun Jan 5 2014 | 22:14 | Blair, Wright step up with Dalembert a DNP-CD |
DeJuan Blair had 11 points, five rebounds and one steal in 26 minutes as the Mavericks' starting center on Sunday, replacing Samuel Dalembert (DNP-CD). |
Brandan Wright also scored seven points and hauled in five rebounds off the bench, but he was limited to 21 minutes due to foul trouble. Neither line jumps out of the boxscore, despite Dalembert's punitive DNP (he was late to practice on Saturday). The Mavs' center position continues to be a frustrating three-headed monster. |

Fri Dec 27 2013 | 00:57 | DeJuan Blair double-doubles vs. old team |
DeJuan Blair double-doubled against his former team on Thursday with 14 points, 11 boards, three assists, one steal and one block on 6-of-8 shooting. |
This past offseason, he had some comments about the Spurs not playing in the Finals, saying the team would have had better luck with him in the lineup against the Heat. Blair was a DNP-CD on Monday, but coach Rick Carlisle gave him another shot tonight thanks to Brandan Wright (illness) not playing. It's not worth picking him up based on this line alone. |

Sun Dec 15 2013 | 00:18 | DeJuan Blair gets 29 minutes vs. Bucks |
DeJuan Blair played 29 minutes against the Bucks, scoring 11 points with nine boards and one assist. |
It was a below-average game for Blair, but the apparent demotion of Samuel Dalembert can make tonight seem like a positive. The former Spur has some nice production in just 21.1 minutes per game on the season, averaging 8.5 points, 7.4 boards and 1.3 steals with his new team. This is pretty much his ceiling, so owners can add or drop accordingly. |

Thu Dec 12 2013 | 01:42 | DeJuan Blair quiet in loss to Warriors |
DeJuan Blair started again at center for the Mavericks and hit 2-of-8 shots for four points, nine rebounds, two assists, zero steals and zero blocks in Wednesday's loss to the Warriors. |
Blair has been starting over Samuel Dalembert since Dec. 3, but has struggled in three of five games since getting the promotion. He's scored 4, 4 and 2 points in three of his five starts, and hasn't hit double digits in rebounds since Nov. 29. He's also not blocking shots, and his 7.4 points, 6.0 boards and 0.2 blocks over his last five games leaves plenty of be desired. It's possible he turns it around soon, but for now, he's not worth starting in most instances. |

Tue Dec 10 2013 | 00:46 | DeJuan Blair doesn't do much in loss |
DeJuan Blair had his hands full on Monday night in his 14 minutes of action, finishing with four points, two rebounds, one assist and four fouls. |
All four of his fouls came against DeMarcus Cousins and he was simply overmatched in the paint. Blair defense has never really been a strength and guarding first-string centers was magnified tonight. He's still worth owning in standard leagues at least until Brandan Wright makes his debut. |

Wed Dec 4 2013 | 23:52 | DeJuan Blair plays season-high 29 minutes |
DeJuan Blair played a season-high 29 minutes against the Pelicans on Wednesday, scoring 12 points with four boards and one block on 6-of-10 shooting. |
He made his second start of the year and could stick as a starter. Blair didn't have a steal, which is a bit of a surprise with his 1.6 per game. He ranks fifth among power forwards and centers in steals per game despite playing just 20.8 minutes per game. The former Spur didn't have a great game tonight, but the extra minutes are a sign that better things are on the way. |
