Wed Jun 6 201212:00Stubbs exits game with pain in ribcage
Drew Stubbs exited Tuesday's game after the eighth inning with pain under under his ribs on the left side of his back.
Stubbs suffered the injury on a swing in the seventh inning. "We'll see how it feels," Stubbs said after the game. "You don't really know how severe it is, or not bad at all, until the next day a lot of times. We'll get some work on it and go from there." The speedy center fielder will likely be re-evaluated Wednesday, but there is some chatter on Twitter that utility man Kris Negron has been summoned from Triple-A Louisville.

Fri May 18 201206:34Stubbs fans three times, OPS drops to .618
Drew Stubbs had a tough night at the plate on Thursday, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Mets.
He drops to 0-for-7 with five K's lifetime against R.A. Dickey. With a .238/.277/.340 batting line, Stubbs looks far removed from his 2010 breakout self.

Sun May 6 201216:53Stubbs homers and swipes bag in win
Drew Stubbs went 3-for-4 with a home run and his fifth stolen base in Sunday's win over the Pirates.
Stubbs' third home run of the season was a two-run shot off Charlie Morton in the third. The bomb was his second in three games, though the steal was his first since April 27, and just his second since April 20. Hitting only .262/.309/.388, Stubbs still has a ways to go to get his numbers where mixed-league players expect them to be.

Sat Apr 14 201218:44Stubbs drives in lone run in Reds loss
Drew Stubbs went 1-for-3 and drove in the Reds only run in their 4-1 loss to the Nationals on Saturday.
Stubbs has struggled in the early going, hitting only .147 (5-for-34) and has been dropped to the seventh spot in the lineup. His RBI Saturday was his first on the young season. Stubbs still possesses an impressive combination of power and speed, but in order to show off those tools he needs to figure out a way to get on base more frequently.

Mon Apr 2 201217:56Stubbs goes 2-for-2 in spring finale
Drew Stubbs went 2-for-2 in Monday's win over the Indians.
The two singles improved Stubbs' final Cactus League line to .292/.364/.458. However, he finishes with 15 strikeouts in 48 at-bats. Not exactly a positive omen after Stubbs whiffed a staggering, MLB-leading 205 times in 681 trips to the plate last season.

Sat Mar 17 201202:55Drew Stubbs homers as leadoff man
Drew Stubbs got a start in the leadoff spot Friday and hit a three-run homer to help power the Reds past the Rockies 4-3.
We still think the Reds offense functions better with Stubbs leading off and Brandon Phillips in the middle of the order, but that'd not the way it figures to work initially. Stubbs will have less fantasy value if he starts off hitting seventh.

Wed Mar 7 201215:36Drew Stubbs could eventually bat leadoff
Reds manager Dusty Baker hasn't ruled out the possibility of eventually using Drew Stubbs out of the leadoff spot.
Brandon Phillips batted leadoff down the stretch last year and is doing so again this spring, but Baker sees Stubbs as an ideal option down the line. "Everything is subject to change," said Baker. "I'm playing it like spring training. Brandon was my best leadoff guy at the end of the year last year. Stubbs would be my epitome of a leadoff man with his speed. I'm trying to take a little pressure off him." Stubbs doesn't make contact often enough to maintain a high on-base percentage, so he looks like a poor option at the top of the lineup right now, but keep an eye on this situation if he gets off to a hot start.

Stubbs singled and hit a two-run double off the center field wall in Saturday's Cactus League opener against the Indians, finishing the day 2-for-2. He's aiming for a big 2012 campaign after batting just .243/.321/.364 last season with a major league-leading 205 strikeouts. The speedster did manage to swipe a career-high 40 bases.

Wed Sep 21 201113:47Stubbs given day off to regroup
Drew Stubbs was given a day off Wednesday to regroup.
Stubbs is hitting just .176 (10-for-56) this month and became the second major leaguer to reach 200 strikeouts in a season on Tuesday. "It looks like he's a little lost right now," said Reds manager Dusty Baker. "We'll give him some time off and hope he finds his way the next couple of days with today and tomorrow's off-day. Sometimes, you go through a period when you're lost."
