Tue Jun 28 201120:25Stubbs to move back to leadoff eventually
Reds manager Dusty Baker plans to move Drew Stubbs back to the leadoff spot eventually, he's just not sure when it will happen.
Stubbs is batting just .182 in his last five games while batting sixth, seventh or eighth in the lineup and leads baseball with 107 strikeouts. He's hitting eighth Tuesday. "He's doing OK," Baker said. "I'd like to move him back there eventually. He brings the most to the table, speed-wise. I don't know when -- it shapes on who we're playing and what we need."

Two games after hitting sixth (and one game after being benched), Drew Stubbs is batting seventh for the Reds against the Orioles on Friday.
Chris Heisey will leadoff for the second consecutive game after hitting three home runs in the nightcap of a double-header against the Yankees on Wednesday. It appears all of Stubbs' strikeouts might finally be catching up with him.

Wed Jun 22 201114:07Drew Stubbs moved down to No. 6 spot
Drew Stubbs was moved from leadoff down to the No. 6 spot for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader.
Stubbs is hitting 2-for-16 with seven strikeouts over the previous four games and his 99 strikeouts lead all of baseball. Fred Lewis is hitting in the leadoff spot in the first game of the doubleheader, but Reds manager Dusty Baker plans to have Stubbs back in his old spot for the second game. He did add, though, that Stubbs could hit lower in the order again over the following six interleague games in AL parks. "Just relieving a little pressure for him," Baker said of Stubbs. "Freddy has been swinging the bat well."

Wed Jun 15 201110:19Reds want Stubbs to cut down on strikeouts
The Reds would like Drew Stubbs to cut down on his strikeouts.
Stubbs has an impressive .345 on-base percentage to go along with nine homers and 20 stolen bases this season, but he also leads the majors with 92 strikeouts over 283 at-bats. "Maybe choke up, maybe be more aggressive early in the count, maybe get started earlier with your timing and picking the ball up out of the pitcher's hand," said Stubbs. "It's definitely stuff we're working on addressing." Less strikeouts would obviously be nice, but hopefully these changes don't affect him negatively at the plate.

Wed Jun 15 201103:02Stubbs ignites offense, will sit on Wednesday
Drew Stubbs smacked three hits and swiped two bags on Tuesday, helping to lead Cincinnati to a 3-2 win.
Stubbs added a run and RBI and raised his batting average to .269. His nine home runs and 20 steals in 22 attempts are very impressive. His major league-leading 92 strikeouts are not. Reds manager Dusty Baker plans to rest Stubbs on Wednesday, so plan accordingly.

Thu Mar 31 201117:27Reds' Stubbs homers, doubles in opener
Drew Stubbs delivered a homer and a double as the Reds' leadoff man on Thursday.
If the Reds had a viable alternative, Stubbs probably would have opened the season batting lower in the order after finishing the spring with a 24/3 K/BB ratio. Still, while we don't know if the OBP will be there, he could well be a force in fantasy baseball with his power and speed. He hit 22 homers as a rookie, and he's poised to add to the total this year.

Fri Mar 11 201115:27Stubbs likely to lead off for Reds
Reds manager Dusty Baker acknowledged Friday that Drew Stubbs is likely to serve as his leadoff hitter.
There will probably be a few different players manning the role over the course of the season, but Stubbs should be there most frequently. He finished with 22 home runs and 30 stolen bases last year and enters 2011 as a highly valuable fantasy outfielder.

Drew Stubbs went 2-for-3 with a single and three-run homer in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Royals.
Stubbs was in the leadoff spot, as manager Dusty Baker is trying a few players at the top of the order before he settles on one. He was a member of the 20/20 club in his first full major league season, registering 22 longballs and 30 steals in an up-and-down but ultimately pretty impressive season.

Thu Sep 30 201022:00Stubbs homers, drives in four
Drew Stubbs went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Thursday's win over Houston.
The longball was the outfielder's 22nd of the season, and he is batting .253 with 77 RBI and 28 steals. Stubbs has been terrific since the beginning of August, hitting .304 with nine homers and 28 RBI over 161 at-bats. He struck out for the 166th time Thursday, but Stubbs' power/speed combo and terrific defense make him a great option in center field for the Reds for years to come.
Wed Sep 15 201022:27Stubbs poised to go 20/20
Drew Stubbs hit his 18th homer of the year to lead the Reds past the Diamondbacks on Wednesday night.
Stubbs has been swinging a hot stick in September, hitting .320 with three homers and 10 RBI in 13 games this month. He has 24 steals on the year, but hasn't swiped a bag since August 29. That's just a fluke. The speedster is on his way to a nice 20/20 season.
Thu Sep 9 201018:23Reds' Stubbs hits 16th homer
Drew Stubbs went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run homer as the Reds' leadoff man Thursday against the Rockies.
Stubbs also struck out for the 143rd and 144th times this season, but this makes three multihit games in a row for him. He's hitting .263/.322/.434 since the All-Star break, and with his defense, that's good enough to make him an above average regular.
