Thu Sep 27 2012 | 18:27 | Jordan Pacheco hits three-run homer in win |
Jordan Pacheco went 2-for-4 and hit a three-run homer as the Rockies bested the Cubs 7-5 on Thursday. |
The homer was just Pacheco's fifth in 453 at-bats, but his game is more about singles (.309 average) and doubles (30). The Rockies will probably have him battle Chris Nelson for the starting job at third base next spring. Ideally, Nelson would win the job and Pacheco could be used as a backup at the corners, a third catcher and a pinch-hitter. |

Wed Sep 12 2012 | 11:07 | Pacheco to see time behind the plate |
Jordan Pacheco is expected to see some time behind the plate while Ramon Hernandez (hamstring) is sidelined. |
Hernandez left Monday's game with a left hamstring strain and underwent an MRI on Tuesday. The Rockies were planning to try Pacheco behind the plate anyway, but the injury to Hernandez makes it more of a necessity. Matt McBride also could help back up Wilin Rosario. |

Jordan Pacheco connected on a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Padres. |
He finished the night 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. While he doesn't offer much in the way of power production, Pacheco has certainly shown that he belongs in the big leagues, hitting a cool .306/.335/.411 with three homers, 37 RBI and five steals through 383 plate appearances on the season. |

Sun Aug 19 2012 | 18:17 | Jordan Pacheco hits two-run bomb in win |
Jordan Pacheco went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's win over the Marlins. |
Pacheco's fourth-inning blast off Josh Johnson was just his second of the season, and 33rd in 584 professional games. His .312/.343/.413 slash makes him a worthy option in NL-only leagues, however. |

Thu Aug 2 2012 | 23:30 | Pacheco's 3-3, two RBI lead Rockies to win |
Jordan Pacheco had a terrific day at the dish in Thursday's 8-2 victory over the Cardinals, going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, run scored and two RBI. |
While he doesn't deliver the power that you would typically expect from the third base position, Pacheco has been a quality addition to the Rockies lineup. He's now hitting .307 with one homer and 24 RBI in 264 at-bats on the year. |

Sun Jul 22 2012 | 01:02 | Jordan Pacheco knocks in four runs |
Jordan Pacheco's fourth RBI of the night gave the Rockies the lead in the 12th in Saturday's 8-6 win over the Padres. |
Pacheco singled in Michael Cuddyer to give the Rockies the lead. Ramon Hernandez then knocked him in for an insurance run. It was a nice change for Pacheco, who had driven in a total of five RBI in 131 at-bats since the beginning of June. He's batting .306, so that part of his game is fine. If he steps forward in the run production department, he has a better chance of lasting as a regular. |

Sat Jun 9 2012 | 00:46 | Pacheco has RBI triple in losing effort |
Jordan Pacheco went 1-for-4 with an RBI triple in Friday's loss to the Angels. |
Pacheco has seemingly cemented himself as the Rockies starting third baseman, hitting .296 with a homer and 14 RBI in his first 115 at-bats. He may only be keeping the seat warm until Nolan Arenado is ready to contribute, but as long as he's receiving everyday at-bats he's worthy of a look in deeper mixed leagues, especially when playing at home. |

Sat Jun 2 2012 | 16:49 | Pacheco resting sore left quad on Saturday |
Jordan Pacheco received the day off Saturday as a precautionary measure to rest his sore left quadriceps muscle. |
It doesn't sound as if it's anything serious that will require a trip to the disabled list, but should still be monitored. Pacheco is hitting .299 with a homer and 12 RBI through his first 97 at-bats and has started to cement himself as the Rockies full-time third baseman. |

Thu May 17 2012 | 09:10 | Pacheco, Herrera to split time at third base |
Jordan Pacheco is expected to split time at third base with Jonathan Herrera going forward. |
Chris Nelson is out indefinitely with pain in his left wrist and might not make it back from the disabled list before the promotion of third base prospect Nolan Arenado. Pacheco and Herrera are also on borrowed time with the 21-year-old Arenado beginning to make the necessary adjustments in Double-A. He should be up by mid-June. |

Sat May 5 2012 | 14:23 | Rockies recall 3B Jordan Pacheco |
Rockies recalled 3B Jordan Pacheco from Triple-A Colorado Springs. |
Pacheco made the Opening Day roster, but was sent down after struggling offensively to begin the season. He figures to be used in a part-time role with Chris Nelson and Jonathan Herrera. The Rockies have yet to announce a corresponding roster move, but Guillermo Moscoso could become expendable with Jeremy Guthrie (shoulder) set to return from the disabled list next week. |

Thu Apr 12 2012 | 18:35 | Jordan Pacheco goes hitless |
Jordan Pacheco went 0-for-2 as the Rockies' first baseman before being removed in a double-switch Thursday. |
Pacheco's poor defense has limited his playing time in the early going, as he's started just two games so far. We're not that high on his bat either, so one wonders if he might not be in for some more Triple-A time at some point. |

Mon Apr 9 2012 | 14:48 | Rockies not giving up on Pacheco at 3B |
Rockies manager Jim Tracy said Monday that he's not giving up on Jordan Pacheco at third base. |
Pacheco has not looked sharp defensively at the hot corner, but Tracy told reporters Monday that the 26-year-old is "making progress." Chris Nelson drew the start at third base in Monday's game against the Giants and could begin seeing more regular playing time there if Pacheco doesn't improve. |

Sat Apr 7 2012 | 23:10 | Pacheco likely to start Sunday |
Jordan Pacheco is likely to start at third base for the Rockies on Sunday. |
Chris Nelson has started the first two games for the Rockies at the hot corner, and manager Jim Tracy wants Pacheco to get some work in there as well. Pacheco possesses a better bat than Nelson and would become an intriguing fantasy option should he start to find consistent at-bats. |

Mon Mar 26 2012 | 20:15 | Jordan Pacheco has another big day |
Jordan Pacheco went 2-for-4 in Monday's win over the Angels. |
Now batting .436/.500/.641 to go along with six extra-base hits and seven RBI this spring, the versatile 26 year old should be close to locking up a roster spot. His multiple position eligibility makes him worth a late-round flier in deeper mixed leagues. |

Wed Mar 14 2012 | 19:13 | Jordan Pacheco goes 3-for-3 |
Jordan Pacheco went 3-for-3 with a single, two doubles and three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Rangers. |
The big day pumped up Pacheco's spring average to .467 over 15 at-bats. Pacheco started at catcher Wednesday, and he also has the ability to play both corner infield spots, as well as second base. He could find his way into some NL-only value if he wins a roster spot, especially if Casey Blake doesn't make the team. |

Sun Nov 20 2011 | 21:27 | Wigginton deal helps Pacheco's roster outlook |
Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that Sunday's trade of Ty Wigginton creates an opening for Jordan Pacheco to make Colorado's roster. |
ESPN.com's Buster Olney opines that Pacheco is the person that most benefits from the deal that sent Wigginton to Philly and it's hard to disagree. Renck writes that it's "probable" that the Rockies will still trade Ian Stewart. Pacheco, a former ninth-round pick, batted just .278/.343/.377 this season at Triple-A but hit .286 (albeit with a poor .687 OPS) in 88 plate appearances with the Rockies in September. Pacheco profiles as a utility man, having started at catcher, first base, second base and third base during his cup of coffee, but he could be thrust into a larger role early in 2012 if Colorado doesn't make other arrangements at the hot corner and keeps Arizona Fall League MVP Nolan Arenado on the farm. |

Jordan Pacheco picked up three singles in four at-bats in Friday's loss to the Giants. |
The rookie now has a modest six-game hitting streak going and has gone deep twice while batting .400 over that stretch. Pacheco, a former ninth-round pick, has been playing third base every day and is worth a look in NL-only leagues. |

Sat Sep 10 2011 | 19:43 | Pacheco homers, drives in three in win |
Jordan Pacheco went 3-for-5 with a home and three RBI in Saturday's 12-7 victory over the Reds. |
A breakout game for the 25-year-old. Pacheco is expected to draw regular starts at third base down the stretch and could be a worthwhile addition in NL-only leagues, though it should be noted that he batted just .278/.343/.377 this season at Triple-A. |
