Wed May 18 2022 | 18:57 | Kenley Jansen Suffers First Blown Save |
Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Kenley Jansen suffered his first blown save of the season during Wednesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Jansen walked the leadoff hitter, but retired the next two batters. However, Kolten Wong smacked a game-tying triple off Jansen with two outs. Jansen has converted nine of 10 save chances this season. He is in no danger of losing his job as the closer in Atlanta. Fantasy managers can just consider this a fluke outing. |

Tue May 3 2022 | 00:30 | Kenley Jansen Stays Perfect, Earns Seventh Save Monday |
Atlanta Braves closer Kenley Jansen continued his perfect save conversions this season in Monday's 5-2 win over the Mets. Jansen entered the game to pitch the ninth inning up by three and pitched a scoreless inning, allowing a single with no walks and a strikeout. The veteran has gotten off to a strong start with his new team, converting all seven of his save opportunities with a 2.70 ERA, 13 strikeouts, and two walks in 10 innings pitched. He has historically been one of fantasy's top closers, but there was some skepticism that he could be quite as good this season. He has quieted those thoughts to this point and fantasy managers should continue to trust him. |

Mon Apr 25 2022 | 22:25 | Kenley Jansen 4-For-4 In Save Chances To Start Season |
Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Kenley Jansen has gone a perfect 4-for-4 in save opportunities for the defending World Series champions to start the 2022 season. Aside from a rocky first appearance during a non-save situation, in which he surrendered three earned runs, the three-time All-Star has allowed one walk while striking out seven across five innings since. The 34-year-old should be an elite ninth-inning man for the Braves and his eighth season of 30 or more saves is firmly on the radar. |

Sat Mar 19 2022 | 10:05 | Kenley Jansen To Be Braves Primary Closer |
Relief pitcher Kenley Jansen will be the Atlanta Braves primary closer after signing to a one-year, $16 million deal on Friday night. Left-handed reliever Will Smith is fine with the move and told general manager Alex Anthopoulous that he just wants to win another World Series ring. It's obviously a big hit to Smith's fantasy value after he had a career-high 37 saves in his second year in Atlanta. The southpaw also struck out 87 hitters in 68 regular season innings, so he'll have some appeal in holds leagues in 2022. Jansen is 34 years old, but the three-time All-Star had 38 saves and 86 K's in 69 innings for the Los Angeles Dodgers last year. The right-hander will remain a strong source of saves in fantasy with his new team, while back in LA, Blake Treinen should be the Dodgers primary ninth-inning man. |

Fri Mar 18 2022 | 22:52 | Kenley Jansen Joins Braves |
The Atlanta Braves signed free-agent relief pitcher Kenley Jansen to a one-year, $16 million deal on Friday. The three-time All-Star spent all 12 years of his MLB career with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he will now head to the east coast and is likely to supplant left-hander Will Smith as the Braves new closer in 2022. Back in Los Angeles, Blake Treinen remains in line to see the bulk of the ninth-inning save chances. Jansen finished last year with a solid 2.22 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 86 strikeouts, 36 walks and 38 saves in 69 innings over 69 relief appearances for the Blue. He has at least 25 saves in every season since 2012, excluding the shortened 2020 campaign. Jansen is no longer in his prime, but he's still one of the better closing options in baseball and will be closing for the defending World Series champions. |

Mon Mar 14 2022 | 14:02 | Dodgers Not Closing The Door On Kenley Jansen |
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the door isn't closed on the team re-signing relief pitcher Kenley Jansen. Roberts said the Dodgers could have five relievers in the mix for saves in 2022, so Jansen won't be guaranteed the everyday ninth-inning gig if he decides to return to LA. Blake Treinen is currently the favorite for most save chances, but Daniel Hudson, Alex Vesia and Brusdar Graterol could also be involved. Jansen, a three-time All-Star from 2016-18, was better last year with 38 saves, a 2.22 ERA and 1.04 WHIP while striking out 86 and walking 36 in 69 innings over 69 appearances for the Blue. Despite his age, 34, Jansen would be fantasy relevant as a closing option if he returns to one of the best teams in baseball. |

Wed Sep 29 2021 | 08:08 | Kenley Jansen Given The Day Off On Tuesday |
Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen wasn't utilized in a save opportunity in Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts decided to give Blake Treinen the ninth inning and Treinen went on to record the save, despite giving up a solo home run to Jake Cronenworth in the inning. After the game, Roberts said that Jansen was available for the game, but he decided to give him the day off. He explained that Jansen had pitched a lot lately and that he wanted to keep his closer "frisky and fresh." Jansen pitched three out of four days from Thursday through Sunday, earning saves in his latter two appearances. Expect to see him called upon the next time a save opportunity pops up. |

Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen worked a perfect 1-2-3 inning to close out the Colorado Rockies on Saturday evening. The veteran is entrenched as the closer, even with his recent struggles and has now recorded 29 saves to the tune of a 2.70 ERA. Managers should continue to hold onto the right-hander down the stretch, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to insure him with Blake Treinen. |

Wed Aug 25 2021 | 08:27 | Kenley Jansen Records 28th Save |
Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen converted his 28th save of the season in Tuesday's victory versus the San Diego Padres. The veteran has been having a rough second half of the season and despite converting the save and not allowing a run, Jansen was still shaky with a hit allowed and a walk in the inning. He also recorded two strikeouts in the contest. Manager Dave Roberts continues to show confidence in the veteran and he should remain the closer moving forward. Jansen has now converted 28 of his 33 save opportunities this season and owns a 2.81 ERA on the season. Managers should feel confident about him remaining the closer, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to insure him relief pitcher Blake Treinen, especially in leagues that count holds. |

The veteran is unlikely to be available on Sunday and relief pitchers Blake Treinen or Corey Knebel would likely be next up in a save situation. Jansen is 2-4 with a 2.86 ERA with 61 strikeouts in 50 1/3 innings and he should continue to be rostered in all formats. |

He's been especially strong over his last seven games with a 1.13 ERA and four saves in that time. Fantasy managers can count on him going forward, even if other relievers get the occasional late-inning opportunity. |

Wed Aug 18 2021 | 07:29 | Kenley Jansen Records 25th Save |
Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen earned his 25th save on the season versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday. The veteran was called on to protect a two-run lead and was shaky during his outing. Jansen allowed two hits, one run, one walk and struck out one. The closer has had a rough second half, but remains the Dodgers closer for now. He previously threw a scoreless inning on Thursday against the Philadelphia Phillies and worked two innings on Friday against the New York Mets. The 29-year-old has struck out 13 batters in 7.2 innings this season while also giving up four walks and three runs. He's worth a look for fantasy managers looking for streaming options in the bullpen on Saturday. |

Wed Aug 4 2021 | 08:49 | Kenley Jansen Coming Off A Dreadful Month Of July |
July was a month to forget for Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen. He converted just two of his five save opportunities in the month and posted an ugly 9.39 ERA over 7.2 innings. Jansen had been fantastic just about all year before the calendar turned to July. He entered July with a 1.38 ERA and just two blown saves. He's currently tied for eighth in the majors with 22 saves. He's holding opposing batters to a 28.7% hard-hit rate, which ranks in the 96th percentile. However, he's really struggled with walks as his 16.3% walk rate ranks in the bottom 2% of the league. Jansen will remain the Dodgers closer unless he completely implodes. Expect for August to be kinder to him than July. |

Sun Jul 25 2021 | 02:43 | Sandoval loses no-hitter in 9th, Angels beat Twins 2-1 |
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Patrick Sandoval had his no-hit bid broken up with one out in the ninth inning on a soft double by rookie Brent Rooker and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Minnesota Twins 2-1 on Saturday night. Sandoval, a 24-year-old lefty who began the game with a 3-13 career record, struck out a career-high 13. There have already been seven no-hitters in the majors this season. The big league record of eight was set in 1884, the first year overhand pitching was permitted. The Twins hadn’t come close to a hit until Rooker, who fanned his first three times up, flared an opposite-field fly that fell just inside the line in right. Sandoval (3-4) smiled after the ball fell, retired the next batter and then was pulled after 108 pitches. He walked one and hit two. Closer Raisel Iglesias allowed an RBI double to Josh Donaldson before getting his 21st save in 25 chances. José Berríos (7-5) allowed two unearned runs in seven innings in perhaps his final start for Minnesota. ASTROS 4, RANGERS... [ More] |
