Tue Jul 30 201309:38Al Harrington drops 27 lbs. to help knee
Al Harrington says he's lost 27 pounds to take pressure off his surgically-repaired knee, and he expects to contribute for an NBA team this season.
That team isn't likely to be the Magic, however, as they're expected to eventually buy out his partially-guaranteed contract. "I'm only 33 years old, and people act like I'm 40," said Harrington. "This year I'm going to have a chip on my shoulder."

Sun Jul 14 201315:16Knicks could target Al Harrington
The Knicks could target Al Harrington.
The Magic are fully expected to buy out the 33-year-old forward. He spent almost two full seasons with the Knicks and had a career-high 20.7 points per game in 2008-09. Harrington's knees aren't what they used to be and played just 10 games at an 11.9 minutes-per-game clip. He won't have much fantasy value.

Magic GM Rob Hennigan said he'll meet with the agent for Al Harrington soon.
The two sides will be discussing a buyout for the veteran forward, who has been granted permission to work out for other teams. Harrington has roughly $15 million left on his contract over two seasons but not all of it is guaranteed. We'll see how much Hennigan can talk him down before letting Harrington go.

Thu Apr 18 201309:50No decision yet on Al Harrington's future
GM Rob Hennigan said there has been no decision made on Al Harrington's future with the team.
It would be a total surprise if Harrington isn't dealt or bought out in the offseason as the Magic are stacked with intriguing prospects along the frontline. Expect to see the veteran wearing a different uniform next year.

Thu Mar 21 201309:48Al Harrington could be benched rest of season
Al Harrington, who hasn't played over the last three games, could be seated on the bench for the remainder of the season as the Magic evaluate their young players.
"It's really nothing to do with his knees," Jacque Vaughn said. "It's a coach's decision. I'm going to give the opportunity to play some of our young guys and give them some experience." Harrington was never a long-term fit in Orlando, and the Magic will likely try and trade him or buy him out in the offseason. Harrington being out of the picture means Tobias Harris and Maurice Harkless should continue to see heavy minutes the rest of the way.

Tue Feb 26 201321:57Harrington debuts, limits Nicholson
Al Harrington made his season debut on Tuesday and had nine points, three rebounds and a 3-pointer on 4-of-7 shooting in 12 minutes.
He picked up a nasty infection after "routine" knee surgery last summer and had to several more surgeries, and is just thankful to have resumed his career. We doubt he'll get more than 15 minutes a night for the Magic, but Andrew Nicholson's owners are not pleased, as he played just 17 minutes for 13 points, two rebounds and a block. Hopefully Nicholson's minutes bounce back in his next game.

Tue Feb 26 201318:05Al Harrington expecting to debut
Al Harrington (knee) expects to make his season debut in Tuesday's game against the Sixers.
Harrington admitted he feels nervous about the state of his knee, but is still going to give it ago. We'd expect extremely limited minutes as the 33-year-old veteran is an awful fit on the rebuilding Magic. They're committed to developing the front line of Moe Harkless, Andrew Nicholson and Nik Vucevic.

Mon Feb 25 201311:25Al Harrington could make debut on Tuesday
Al Harrington (knee) could make his season debut on Tuesday.
Harrington is not listed on the Magic's newest injury report, and that's outstanding news for a guy who has fought long and hard to return from multiple knee surgeries in the offseason. Unfortunately, the Magic aren't likely to give him a role big enough to sustain consistent fantasy value, but he should help with Hedo Turkoglu still suspended.

Sat Feb 23 201313:23Al Harrington fails to make debut Friday
Al Harrington (knee surgery) never made it into Friday's game despite the Magic being down to five available players late in the fourth quarter.
Coach Jacques Vaughn said Harrington was available to play but noted the Magic wanted to be safe with his return and not rush him back into game action. Even when healthy, Harrington won't offer fantasy owners much of anything and can be safely left on the waiver wire in most formats.

Fri Feb 22 201314:26Al Harrington to suit up for first time Fri.
Al Harrington (knee surgery) will be active Friday for the extremely short-handed Magic.
Whether Harrington actually plays Friday is up to coach Jacques Vaughn. The Magic only have eight "healthy" bodies at this point as they wait for Tobias Harris, Doron Lamb and Beno Udrih to join the team Saturday.

Thu Feb 21 201321:35Al Harrington could be back next week
Al Harrington (knee surgery) could make his debut next week for the Magic.
He has reportedly upped his effort in rehab, but his timetable has been pushed back multiple times throughout the season. The Magic lost a lot of their depth at the deadline, so Harrington could be in line to get some minutes in the rotation. That said, owners that wisely acquired Moe Harkless or Andrew Nicholson shouldn't be concerned at this point. Harrington is only worth a look in very deep leagues until he is active.

Sat Feb 9 201300:39Harrington does conditioning before game
Al Harrington did conditioning drills prior to Friday's game against the Cavs.
It's a good sign that he's progressing but we're still in the dark for a potential return. It would be good timing to get him back on the floor to showcase the veteran for a trade, and owners should keep one eye on him with the Magic desperately needing veterans on the floor on any given night.

Mon Jan 14 201308:28Al Harrington at least two weeks away
Al Harrington (knee surgery) is "at least a couple of weeks away" from playing.
Harrington is targeting a debut before the February 21 trade deadline, but it's been a long rehab for him after multiple knee surgeries in the offseason. With no guarantees his knee holds up and a very limited role when he does return, Harrington is waiver wire fodder in most formats.

Sun Jan 13 201316:35Al Harrington practices on Sunday
Al Harrington (knee surgery) was a participant in practice on Sunday.
He has been behind schedule since he had surgery back in July, but getting back on the practice court is a huge step for him. The Magic are 22nd in the league in scoring and they could use Harrington to add depth to the rotation. He doesn't have much upside and he'll likely see a limited role for the foreseeable future, so we'd leave him on the wire in almost all leagues.

Al Harrington (knee surgery) denied that he is considering retirement and stated that he intends to play this season.

Mon Dec 17 201211:15Report: Al Harrington out for the season
Al Harrington (knee surgery) is "likely out for the year," according to Hoopsworld's Steve Kyler.
We're taking it with a grain of salt since Harrington said previously that he intended to play before the trade deadline, and he's been actively rehabbing in order to get on the court. Kyler even mentions the possibility of medical retirement, but it's too early to make that call with certainty.
