Sun Dec 1 201322:56Andrea Bargnani ties career-high w/ six swats
Andrea Bargnani blocked six shots vs. the Pelicans, tying his career-high, adding 17 points, seven rebounds and two steals in a futile effort.
New York couldn't earn a victory despite the absence of Anthony Davis (hand) for most of the game, but at least fantasy owners got an unexpected boost from Bargs (even if his blocks were largely a consequence of the Pelicans singling him out to attack defensively). Tyson Chandler's return date is uncertain but shouldn't be more than 2-3 weeks away, at which point all bets are off for Bargnani's value.

Sat Nov 30 201301:43Andrea Bargnani scores 22 points vs. DEN
Andrea Bargnani scored 22 points against the Nuggets on Friday with five boards, two assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 39 minutes.
He shot 7-of-11 from the field and he had a surprising four field goals come from inside of the paint. The seven-foot Italian has taken just 34 percent of his shots from inside the paint this season, which is a fairly low percentage for a guard. Bargnani is still worth owning in standard leagues while Tyson Chandler (leg) is out, though.

Thu Nov 28 201303:13Bargnani goes for 20 and 10 in Knicks loss
Andrea Bargnani scored 20 points on 8-of-18 shooting (no threes) with 10 rebounds and four blocks in the Knicks' loss to the Clippers on Wednesday.
Bargnani has been a top 55-85 play in 9- and 8-cat leagues respectively over the past two weeks, as the Knicks are forced to go to him given the depth issues they have and Bargs hasn't fallen apart yet. For his part he's doing a pretty good job answering the call and owners will probably be best served riding him until the wheels fall off.

Sat Nov 16 201323:02Andrea Bargnani still producing for Knicks
Andrea Bargnani hit 5-of-11 shots for 16 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a 3-pointer in Saturday's loss to the Hawks.
It's amazing what Tyson Chandler's injury did to Bargnani's value. He went from doing nothing and being dropped in most leagues to cranking out 20 points, 6.5 rebounds and plenty of 3-pointers and blocks over his last five games. He should be owned in all leagues, and then the hope is that he'll have enough confidence to keep it going at power forward once Chandler is back in aciton.

Thu Nov 14 201323:24Andrea Bargnani scores 24 with three treys
Andrea Bargnani continued his hot streak on Thursday with 24 points, four boards, one block and three 3-pointers on 9-of-12 shooting vs. the Rockets.
The Italian was booed earlier this season for his lackluster play and he still hasn't made a shot in post-up yet this season, but he's quickly endearing himself into the Garden crowd. In his last four, he's averaged 21.3 points, 1.8 blocks and 2.3 triples. Bargnani was a fantasy stud a few seasons ago and the Knicks are allowing him to play his style of game. He has to be owned across the board.

Thu Nov 14 201301:17Andrea Bargnani double-doubles vs. Hawks
Andrea Bargnani had 20 points, 11 rebounds, a block and two 3-pointers on 8-of-15 shooting in Wednesday's win over the Hawks.
The Hawks aren't traditionally strong against opposing centers, but then again, Bargnani's not exactly a typical starting center. The 11 rebounds are pretty shocking, as the last time he had at least 10 in a game (and double-doubled) was Jan. 11, 2012. Don't expect this kind of line out of Bargnani again this season, but his scoring and production should be solid for the depleted Knicks as long as Tyson Chandler is sidelined.

Sun Nov 10 201315:02Andrea Bargnani looks like Andrea Bargnani
Andrea Bargnani looked more like himself on Sunday with 16 points, one board, one 3-pointer and one turnover on 5-of-10 from the field in 26 minutes.
He shocked the world with his eight-rebound outing on Friday. Well, not really, but his huge 25-point game came as a big surprise, so today's game serves as a fair expectation. Bargnani should still be a solid contributor in points, triples and blocks while lacking boards and field goal percentage most nights. He's worth owning in all leagues with his current role.

Sat Nov 9 201309:16Knicks sticking with Andrea Bargnani
The Knicks have no plans to sign a free agent center in the 4-6 weeks that Tyson Chandler (knee) is expected to be sidelined.
Woodson said centers are "scarce" and the club will wait for the D-League to start before deciding on anything, saying there wasn't any center out there of note. Ike Diogu played well for the Knicks in training camp, but the decision may have more to do with the luxury tax implications. Because the Knicks are so far over the tax threshold, any new signing is taxed at twice the normal rate. All of this, of course, is excellent new for Bargnani owners. Bargs put up a monster game last night in his first start since Chandler went down. Cole Aldrich is a non-factor and Amare is a shell of his former self, so look for Bargs to rack up the minutes in the next month to month and a half.

Sat Nov 9 201302:12Bargnani explodes with massive line at center
Andrea Bargnani thumbed his nose at all of the doubters in his first start at center on Friday, scoring a season-high 25 points on 11-of-25 shooting with eight rebounds, three assists, three treys and five blocks in 35 minutes.
Wowza. This outing certainly changes the calculus for Bargnani's immediate value as he both proved that he's capable of playing big minutes and also that he's capable of putting up big numbers. We're not going to summarily dismiss his lackluster body of work over the past few years, but the 4-6 week timetable for Tyson Chandler's (fibula) return gives him a lot of breathing room and there is nobody there to challenge him. Owners have to take a calculated risk here and hope Bargnani doesn't fade, regardless of the wide open window.

Thu Nov 7 201312:57Andrea Bargnani to see big minutes at center
Andrea Bargnani will start at center and see big minutes with Tyson Chandler out.
Mike Woodson had previously indicated that he might start Bargnani at center with Chandler set to miss 4-6 weeks, and it sounds like that plan is coming to fruition as Woodson added that he expects Bargnani to see "big minutes". Bargnani's defense will likely be a liability for the Knicks, but an increase in minutes is music to his fantasy owners' ears.

Wed Nov 6 201314:22Andrea Bargnani could start at center
Coach Mike Woodson said he could start Andrea Bargnani at center while Tyson Chandler (fractured fibula) is out.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. Bargnani is arguably the worst rebounding seven-footer in the NBA and he's a liability on defense. Plus, only 12.9 percent of his field goals have come from within five feet, and he treats the paint like he could get a one-second lane violation. The Knicks can't play Kenyon Martin or Amare Stoudemire big minutes, so they'll have to figure out how to make it work. Bargnani does have some opportunity here and is worth a look.

Tue Nov 5 201310:30Andrea Bargnani to start at PF vs Bobcats
Andrea Bargnani will start at PF again when the Knicks take on the Bobcats Tuesday night.
Mike Woodson will stick with his "big" lineup of Bargnani, Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler again on Tuesday, but this doesn't change the fact that Bargnani is barely averaging more than 20 minutes per game. While Bargnani's offensive capabilities are tantalizing, his defensive liabilities will limit his minutes and fantasy potential going forward.

Sun Nov 3 201323:04Andrea Bargnani scores 14 points Sunday
Andrea Bargnani shot 6-of-10 from the field for 14 points with three rebounds, one steal and two 3-pointers in 19 minutes against the Wolves on Sunday.
He set a season high with his three rebounds and remains the most inept seven-foot rebounder in the NBA. That said, Bargnani is playing better offense and his scoring has improved in each of his three games with his new team. His minutes are still a little low and Carmelo Anthony won't be giving up many of his shots, so Il Mago isn't worth owning in standard leagues.

Sat Nov 2 201315:19Andrea Bargnani to start at PF vs. Wolves
Andrea Bargnani will start at PF vs. the Wolves on Sunday.
The 'big' lineup allows Carmelo Anthony to SF, while New York gets some added size (if not toughness) on the court to battle Nikola Pekovic and Kevin Love. Bargnani is averaging 7.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 21 minutes through two games, without a single block to his credit.

Thu Oct 31 201323:17Andrea Bargnani scores nine points
Andrea Bargnani played 25 minutes in his start at power forward on Thursday, scoring nine points with one rebound, one assist and three turnovers.
He actually tried to go for rebounds, but that's not exactly his forte. Bargnani shot 4-of-9 from the field and all of his makes came from 18 feet or deeper. The Knicks used him in high pick-and-rolls early in the first half, and since they didn't work at all, they used him more as a floor spreader on the weak side of plays in the second half. Il Mago has lost most of his magic and he doesn't do enough to warrant ownership in standard leagues.

Thu Oct 31 201319:09Andrea Bargnani in the starting lineup
Andrea Bargnani will start at power forward on Thursday night in Chicago.
He looked like Bargnani circa 2012-13 on Wednesday night and his Knicks career did not get off to a good start. The Italian played just 17 minutes and shot just 3-of-9, so he'll have to turn in a nice game tonight to get the perception turned around. He'll start with Raymond Felton, Iman Shumpert, Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler.

Wed Oct 30 201323:13Andrea Bargnani plays just 17 minutes
Andrea Bargnani hit just 3-of-9 shots for six points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal in just 17 minutes off the Knicks bench on Wednesday.
Yuck. It's apparent that Mike Woodson is reluctant to play Bargnani due to his lack of defense, and it probably won't be long before what little confidence he has is gone. He may still be worth keeping around on fantasy benches, but it's hard to see him ever being an everyday starter.

Tue Oct 29 201315:10MWP expected to start, w/ Bargnani off bench
Carmelo Anthony strongly suggested that Metta World Peace will be in the Knicks' starting lineup on Wednesday, with Andrea Bargnani coming off the bench.
"I didn't expect it, we didn't expect it," Anthony said. "That's what [Mike Woodson] going with. I think guys are ready for the move. Everyone seems on board with that. Whatever position we have to play, we have to go out and do it." Bargnani's awful preseason and iffy conditioning may have forced Woodson's hand, but he's suggested that he'll experiment with different lineups early in the season, and he may start a 'big' lineup with Bargnani against certain opponents.

Sun Oct 27 201310:15Bargnani's conditioning a work in progress
Andrea Bargnani admitted that his conditioning is a work in progress.
Bargnani entered training camp having just recovered from pneumonia. "Once you stay 30 days without doing anything, I never had that in my life," Bargnani said. "Obviously, playing basketball, you're always used to practicing in the summer time. I never had [to sit out]. I'm still working and getting better every day." He shot 38 percent in the preseason, picking up where he left off last year, and fantasy owners should anticipate a slow start to the 2013-14 season.

Thu Oct 24 201300:43Andrea Bargnani quiet again in loss
Andrea Bargnani hit 5-of-9 shots for 13 points, one rebound, one assist, one block and one 3-pointer in 25 minutes in another start at power forward for the Knicks on Wednesday.
Bargnani hasn't exactly been tearing it up in the preseason, but has been very consistent. He's scored between 10 and 13 points in all six games, has totaled five blocks and three 3-pointers over that stretch, and hasn't hauled in more than four rebounds in a single game. If he can stay healthy, things should get better, but the chances of Bargnani staying healthy are pretty slim.
