It sounds like this is simply a precautionary measure and Evans would be playing if it were a regular season game. Still, it's something worth keeping an eye on.
Tue Sep 29 201512:12Evans will play mostly point guard this season
Evans will play mostly point guard this season, Scott Kushner of The Advocate reports.
Evans is capable of playing three positions, and while he could open the year as the starting small forward, it looks as though new coach Alvin Gentry likes him most as a point guard. Of course, the Pelicans still have Jrue Holiday, but his recent injury history suggests Evans could see an extended look at point guard should Holiday go down at some point. Evans is coming off of an underrated season in which he averaged 16.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.6 assists, a career-best by a wide margin.

Evans (knee) will be used at many positions next season according to coach Alvin Gentry, Scott Kushner of The Advocate reports.
Removing Evans from primary facilitator would reduce his fantasy value substantially. During the 2013-14 season, former coach Monty Williams tried a similar approach, never truly defining Evans' role until Jrue Holiday was lost for the season with a stress reaction in his leg. The same storyline played out last season. Evans inability to convert jump shots on a consistent basis makes him a liability on offense, and he's most effective as the primary facilitator.

Evans (knee) averaged 16.6 points, 6.6 assists, 5.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 0.9 three-pointers, and 0.5 blocks in 34 minutes in 79 games during the 2014-15 season. He was the team runner-up in points and assists for the season.
Evans saw a significant role change halfway through the season, due to Jrue Holiday's devastating ankle injury in January. As a result, Evans took over point guard duties and the Pelicans finished out the season with a 26-17 record. He made his first ever postseason appearance, starting all four games in the first round series. Evans averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.5 three-pointers, and 0.3 blocks in 31 minutes in the four games against the eventual-champion Warriors. In game one, Evans suffered a left knee contusion but played through it the remainder of the series. He then underwent arthroscopic surgery in late May. There is no timetable for Evans' return, although he should be ready to go by the start of the season. He is under contract with the Pelicans through the 2016-17 season.

Evans (knee) underwent arthroscopic surgery Thursday, John Reid of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Evans injured the knee during the Pelicans' first-round series against Golden State, playing through the ailment in Games 2, 3 and 4. The team has not announced a return timetable, but considering it was only an arthroscopic procedure, Evans is likely to be ready for the start of the 2014-15 season, barring any setbacks.

It was a heroic effort from Evans, although not enough to give the Pelicans the victory. He'll get a couple of days to heal his bruised knee before the series shifts to New Orleans for Game 3.

Evans (knee) remains a game-time call for Monday's Game 2 against the Warriors, Sam Amick of USA Today Sports reports.
Evans is out on the floor going through his usual pregame routine. Assuming he makes it through pregame without issue, he'll likely be in the lineup. With Jrue Holiday (leg) also a game-time call, the Pelicans' backcourt could be in flux. In the event that both Evans and Holiday are ruled out, Norris Cole will get the start.
Sun Apr 19 201514:18Tyreke Evans: (Knee) Questionable For Game 2
Evans (knee) is considered questionable for Monday's Game 2 against the Warriors after his MRI results revealed a bone bruise, Sam Amick of USA Today Sports reports.
Evans labeled himself as a game-time decision for Monday's contest so he's obviously in some sort of discomfort since the upcoming matchup against the Warriors will be the most important game for the Pelicans since Evans joined the team back in 2013. If he's unable to play, Norris Cole could be in store for added minutes on the court.
Sat Apr 18 201518:52Tyreke Evans: (Knee) Undergoing MRI On Saturday
Evans will undergo an MRI, after he "felt a little pop" in his left knee during Saturday's loss at Golden State, ESPN.com reports.
After entering the second half with probable availability with his knee contusion, Evans was ruled out of a game that the Pelicans eventually made competitive via a 14-0 run spanning the third and fourth quarters. His status should become clear once results of the examination are known, but he should be considered questionable for Monday's Game 2.
Sat Apr 18 201517:06Tyreke Evans: (Knee) Won't Return Saturday
Evans won't return to Saturday's game at Golden State due to a left knee contusion, the Pelicans' official site reports.
Evans sustained the injury in the first half, and at the end of halftime, word emerged that he was probable to return. However, the Pelicans haven't made a game of their playoff opener, so holding him out is likely more of a precautionary measure than anything. Heading into Monday's contest, expect him to be considered questionable until further notice.

Evans has been excellent of late, averaging 19.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 7.8 assists, 1.2 steals, and 2.0 three-pointers made over the last five games. He's run away with the starting point guard duties with Jrue Holiday out, and it doesn't appear like he'll slow down anytime soon.

Evans had 25 points (10-15 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-5 FT) and 10 assists in the win over Sacramento on Friday.
After missing last Sunday's loss against the Clippers, Evans has averaged 26.5 points on 64.5 percent from the field with 3.0 3-pointers and 8.5 assists. The hot shooting won't last, so enjoy it while it does.

Evans had 28 points (10-16 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven assists, two steals, two rebounds, one block and six turnovers on Wednesday.
He came out with a bang after missing Sunday's tilt with the Clippers. The Pelicans shortened their bench to just three players on Wednesday. With them in the hunt for a playoff spot, look for Evans to get all the minutes he can handle with point guard Jrue Holiday still out without a time table for his return.
Wed Mar 25 201511:57Tyreke Evans: (Ankle) Will Return Wednesday
Evans (ankle) said he'll play in Wednesday's game against the Rockets, the New Orleans Advocate's Darrell J. Williams reports.
Evans missed the last game with a left ankle sprain, but he says the ankle has improved a lot and he felt good pushing off it in Wednesday's shootaround. Look for him to start at point guard against the uptempo Rockets.
Tue Mar 24 201516:31Tyreke Evans: (Ankle) Questionable For Wednesday
Evans (ankle) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Rockets.
The Pelicans are in no position to take a cautious approach, but Evans has been bothered by his ankle for the past few weeks, and it's limited his effectiveness even when he's been able to play. If he does suit up Wednesday night, Evans won't have to deal with the tough defense of Rockets point guard Patrick Beverley (wrist), who will likely miss multiple games. If Evans doesn't play, Norris Cole will likely get another start, with Eric Gordon taking on an increased playmaking role.
