Mon Jul 7 201409:15Paul Pierce still wants to play two seasons
Unrestricted free agent Paul Pierce wants to play at least two more seasons.
His minutes per game took a massive hit at 28.0 last year, which shattered his previous career low of 33.4 from 2012-13. Pierce also had career lows in points and boards, so he's clearly on his way down. He sits 18th on the all-time scoring list and will almost certainly climb into the top 15 next year.

Thu Jul 3 201420:09King shoots down sign-and-trade rumors
General manager Billy King said the Nets are not negotiating with the Clippers on a sign-and-trade deal for Paul Pierce.
King said the Clippers have been calling, but the team is not interested. Kevin Garnett is expected to come back next season, but joining his former coach, Doc Rivers, on a better team is an attractive option for Pierce. Chances are The Truth won't come to terms on a deal until after Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James have decided.

Thu Jul 3 201409:58Clippers making a play for Paul Pierce
The Los Angeles Clippers are interested in acquiring Paul Pierce from the Nets in a sign-and-trade.
The Clippers could use their $5.3 million mid-level exception to sign the unrestricted free agent, but have a surplus of small forwards and would prefer to send a player to Brooklyn in the deal. The Clippers would ideally like to include a combination of Matt Barnes, Jared Dudley, and Reggie Bullock, but the Nets reportedly aren't interested in any of those players. The Clippers will also be in the hunt for LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony this summer, but may end up sweetening their offer to Brooklyn if they fail to land either superstar.

Tue Jul 1 201415:14Paul Pierce contacted by at least five teams
In addition to the Clippers, free agent Paul Pierce has been contacted by the Bulls, Grizzlies, Mavericks and Trail Blazers.
Presumably the Nets have also contacted him about returning to Brooklyn, but it's tough to gauge Pierce's interest after a postseason disappointment and the messy departure of coach Jason Kidd. There's a good chance Pierce will wait to see where other key free agents sign before choosing where to spend one of the final years of his NBA career.

Tue Jul 1 201401:41Clippers, Rivers could be targeting Pierce
With Jason Kidd long gone in Brooklyn, it's possible the Clippers will make a strong play to lure free agent Paul Pierce back to Doc Rivers.
The love Pierce and Rivers have for each other is no secret and with all the turmoil happening in Brooklyn, it would be very easy to see Pierce bolting for L.A. This summer. And given that the biggest hole the Clippers have in their starting lineup is small forward, this looks like a perfect match.

Wed May 14 201422:24Paul Pierce says he has 1-2 more years left
Paul Pierce said following Wednesday's loss that he has one or two more years "at most" in his NBA career.
He finished with 19 points, two boards, two assists and two 3-pointers in 35 minutes during Wednesday's season-ending loss to the Heat. The 36-year-old swingman turned in a solid series vs. Miami, averaging 14.0 points on 46.6 percent from the field, but he didn't fare too well on defense. Pierce is almost a lock to move into the top 15 on the NBA's all-time scoring list, but his fantasy value is unlikely to be selected in the first half of drafts in the fall.

Mon May 12 201409:40Paul Pierce asks to defend LeBron James
Paul Pierce asked to defend LeBron James after Game 2, and helped limit LeBron to 12 points in the final three quarters of Brooklyn's Game 3 victory.
"I don't have the offensive load that I've had in the past," Pierce said. "Now, I can reserve a lot of energy trying to defend [LeBron]. When the time comes for me to score, then I'll do that also." Deron Williams added that the Nets want LeBron to shoot jumpers all game long, rather than attacking the paint. "If we just let him to get in the lane any time he wants," Williams said, "we're not going to have a very good success rate."

Sat May 10 201422:56Paul Pierce scores 14, hits two 3s in win
Paul Pierce hit 5-of-10 shots and two 3-pointers for 14 points, four rebounds and two steals in Saturday's win.
Pierce tied Jason Kidd for No. 8 on the list of 3-pointers made in playoff history. He's playing on a sore ankle, and despite the lack of big numbers tonight, he played pretty well for the Nets.

Thu May 8 201421:46Paul Pierce has a minor ankle injury
Paul Pierce suffered a minor ankle injury in the first quarter of Thursday's 94-82 loss to the Heat, finishing with 13 points, four boards, two assists and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes.
He was limping up and down the court for a couple minutes, but the ankle issue didn't really cost him time. Pierce did a decent job on LeBron James and perhaps coach Jason Kidd waited too long to bring him back into this game with Pierce not checking in until 5:08 left in the fourth. The ankle injury shouldn't be a concern for Game 3 on Saturday as the Nets will try to avoid an 0-3 hole.

Sun Apr 27 201422:07Paul Pierce stays hot with 22 points in loss
Paul Pierce stayed hot with a team-high 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting in Sunday's loss, which gave home-court advantage to the Raptors with Game 5 looming on Wednesday.
Pierce's efficiency was an outlier for Brooklyn, which committed 16 turnovers while shooting just 41.2 percent from the field and 65.5 percent from the FT line. He called the Nets "soft" after their Game 2 loss and may have some choice words for them again after Sunday's uninspiring performance.

Tue Apr 22 201411:32Paul Pierce says you can't buy clutch
Paul Pierce thinks certain players are inherently more clutch than others.
In one of the better quotes of the young postseason, Pierce spoke briefly about being clutch, "Everybody don't have it. Everybody is not born with it. You can't buy it at Costco or Walgreens." Pierce had a solid performance in Brooklyn's Game 1 win over Toronto and his 36 minutes played should come as good sign for a Nets team that will likely need The Truth's clutch genes sooner or later.

Sat Apr 19 201415:47Paul Pierce's surge helps Nets steal Game 1
Paul Pierce got hot in the fourth quarter on Saturday, finishing with 15 points, two 3-pointers, four rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in a 94-87 win in Toronto.
Pierce's late surge helped keep the Raptors at bay and he already looks like a matchup nightmare, as Toronto's PFs aren't nimble enough to chase him off the 3-point line without giving up easy driving and passing lanes. Fellow 'dinosaur' Kevin Garnett had five points, eight rebounds, two steals and one block in 20 minutes, and his lone field goal was a dagger in the final minutes.

Tue Apr 15 201423:24Paul Pierce scores 13 in loss to Knicks
Paul Pierce played through his shoulder injury and had 13 points and three rebounds in 21 minutes on Tuesday.
The Nets needed to win this game and may be ready to give up on Wednesday's finale. Jason Kidd said after the game he doesn't care if he's the No. 5 or 6 seed, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Pierce get the night off. He was a game-time decision tonight, but he went for it.

Tue Apr 15 201410:52Pierce, Johnson, Williams all GTD for Nets
Paul Pierce (shoulder), Joe Johnson and Deron Williams are all listed as game-time decisions for the Nets on Tuesday.
It's anyone's guess as to who might play for either the Nets or Knicks tonight, but guys like Marquis Teague, Marcus Thornton and Mason Plumlee are good bets for success.

Sun Apr 13 201420:29Paul Pierce held to 19 minutes vs. Orlando
Paul Pierce only played 19 minutes vs. the Magic on Sunday, scoring 10 points with five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
He was productive enough to appease most owners and Jason Kidd was probably just giving his veteran some extra rest vs. an inferior opponent. Pierce's switch to power forward, and his ability to play the position defensively, has been a major catalyst for the Nets' resurgence this season.

Fri Apr 11 201423:35Pierce (hip) returns, passes 25K career pts
Paul Pierce (hip) returned to action in Friday's loss to the Hawks, scoring 13 points on 5-of-14 shooting (including a three) with six rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block in 29 minutes.
Pierce also passed 25,000 points in his Hall of Fame career, and with the chance to rest looming it wouldn't be surprising if he missed any number of games to finish the year. We're not going to put him on the injury report until we hear something specific to that effect, but owners should be looking at other options.

Fri Apr 11 201418:18Paul Pierce back in the starting lineup
Paul Pierce (hip) will start against the Hawks on Friday night.
He'll join Jorge Gutierrez, Alan Anderson, Joe Johnson and Kevin Garnett in the first unit. Pierce had his turn to rest on Wednesday night and we would expect him to play without limitation. Considering Deron Williams (knee) is out, Pierce could have the ball in his hands a lot.

Fri Apr 11 201410:39Paul Pierce expected to play Friday
Paul Pierce (hip) is expected to return for Friday's game against the Hawks.
Pierce and the rest of the Nets' elderly players will go through warmups before any final decision is made, but it's looking like Shaun Livingston (toe) is the only one that will sit out. It suggests that Pierce's hip is feeling near 100 percent as he wouldn't be risking anything this close to the playoffs.

Wed Apr 9 201417:36Pierce, Livingston ruled out on Wednesday
Paul Pierce (hip) won't be joining the 25,000 point club on Wednesday, as he's not expected to play for the Nets.
Shaun Livingston is also out with a big toe injury and Mirza Teletovic and Alan Anderson will start in their place tonight. And with Livingston out of the way, Marcus Thornton could also have a big night, although he's a total roll of the dice from game to game.

Tue Apr 8 201423:02Paul Pierce scores 14 in win over Heat
Paul Pierce needed 19 points on Tuesday to get to 25,000, but he came up just short, finishing with 14 points, four rebounds, one assist, two steals, two blocks and a 3-pointer on 5-of-8 shooting as the Nets beat the Heat by a point to complete a season sweep.
Pierce will have to wait until Wednesday night against the Magic to join the 25,000 club, which includes Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Garnett as the only other active members. He'll get there if he can manage five points in Orlando tomorrow night.
