Tue Jan 31 201222:52Brandon Jacobs has roster bonus due in March
Brandon Jacobs has a $500,000 roster bonus due in March.
Six months shy of his 30th birthday and coming off his worst season, it's likely to be a prohibitive number for a back due $4.4 million in 2012. If released, Jacobs should draw plenty of interest as a short-yardage specialist.

Thu Jan 12 201217:39Jacobs fresher than he's ever been
Brandon Jacobs insists he feels better now than he has late in any previous season.
The Giants finished dead last in the NFL in rushing offense this year, but Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw combined for 155 yards on 28 carries (5.5 YPC) in last week's win over the Falcons. With Bradshaw nursing a back injury, Jacobs could end up leading the attack at Green Bay.

Sun Jan 8 201216:16Brandon Jacobs totals 100 yards in victory
Brandon Jacobs rushed 14 times for 92 yards and caught two passes for eight more as the Giants whipped the Falcons in the Wild Card round.
A Falcons run defense that collapsed down the stretch let Jacobs break into the open field far too often, and he is incredibly difficult to tackle one-on-one. The carry split against Atlanta was 14-14 between Jacobs and Bradshaw, and they combined to average 5.54 yards per rush attempt. The Giants will give the Packers a very tough challenge in the Divisional round if their rushing offense comes to play like they did on Sunday.

Mon Jan 2 201200:55Brandon Jacobs ends year on down note
Brandon Jacobs rushed seven times for 16 yards in New York's Week 17 win over the Cowboys.
Jacobs did not make a catch, and also put the ball on the ground. The Giants were able to recover it, however. Jacobs was held to two yards or fewer on four of his seven totes, and stopped short on both a 3rd-and-1 and 4th-and-1. He ends 2011 with 152 rushes for 671 yards, 15 catches for 128 yards and eight total touchdowns. This is the first time since 2006 Jacobs has posted less than 800 yards on the ground. Due $4.4 million in what will be his age-30 season in 2012, Jacobs may have to take a pay-cut to remain in New York.

Sat Dec 24 201117:54Jacobs totals 55 yards in Week 16
Brandon Jacobs rushed seven times for 42 yards and added one reception for 13 yards against the Jets in Week 16.
The numbers don't jump off the page, but Jacobs set the tone by breaking four tackles for a first down on the one reception while adding a 28-yard run. He and Rex Ryan got into a confrontation after the game, with Jacobs telling the Jets coach, "It's time to shut up, fat boy." Jacobs is just a flex option for Week 17 versus Dallas.

Sun Dec 18 201116:18Brandon Jacobs held in check Week 15
Brandon Jacobs rushed eight times for 33 yards in the Giants' Week 15 loss to the Redskins.
Ahmad Bradshaw's foot was healthy and he made curfew this week. So Jacobs was a mere change-of-pace player, seeing no targets in the passing game and getting just a couple series to himself. Jacobs won't be a strong flex option against the Jets next week.

Wed Dec 14 201111:11Brandon Jacobs not on injury report
Brandon Jacobs is not listed on the Giants' Week 15 injury report.
Jacobs turned back the clock in last week's win over the Cowboys, running for 101 yards on 19 carries. His balky hamstring came out of the game fine. He's in line to share the load with Ahmad Bradshaw in Sunday's game against the Redskins.

Mon Dec 12 201100:42Jacobs finally goes for 100 yards in win
Brandon Jacobs carried the ball 19 times for a season-high 101 yards and two touchdowns in New York's Week 14 win over the Cowboys.
The 100-yard game was Jacobs' first since Week 14 last season. With Ahmad Bradshaw benched for the first half for a violation of team rules, Jacobs ran wild, taking the ball for 62 yards and a score on 13 carries. He received just six second-half totes as the Giants rotated backs, but still managed to tack on 39 more yards and another touchdown. Revived since his backfield mate returned, Jacobs should be a high-end flex play against the Redskins' middling run defense in Week 15.

Fri Dec 9 201113:02Brandon Jacobs listed as probable
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) returned to Giants practice Friday and is listed as probable for Week 14.
Jacobs was given Wednesday and Thursday's practices off, but he'll be ready to go as a TD-heavy league option against the Cowboys. In Ahmad Bradshaw's (foot) Week 13 return, Jacobs received only eight touches. Bradshaw got 13, was the Giants' starter, and saw significantly more playing time despite inferior stats.

Thu Dec 8 201112:32Brandon Jacobs not practicing with team
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) was not practicing with the team Thursday.
Jacobs did some light drills inside with trainers as he protects his tender hamstring. His status for Sunday night's showdown with the Cowboys is unclear.

Wed Dec 7 201110:58Brandon Jacobs on injury report Wednesday
Brandon Jacobs is on the Giants' Week 14 injury report with a hamstring strain.
Jacobs was spotted with his leg wrapped during last week's loss to the Packers, but made it through the game. He'll likely end up limited in practice this week before suiting up for Sunday night's showdown with the Cowboys. Still, Jacobs is trending down in a big way with Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) healthy.

Sun Dec 4 201120:31Brandon Jacobs totals 59 yards, TD in loss
Brandon Jacobs rushed eight times for 59 yards and a touchdown against the Packers in Week 13.
The Giants would have turned to Jacobs for a heavier workload if they hadn't been playing from behind for the majority of the game. One week after looking plodding against the Saints, Jacobs had a pep in his step against a superior run defense. He's on pace for 148 carries, 505 yards, and 7 TDs heading into Week 14 at Dallas.

Tue Nov 29 201100:46Jacobs shows signs of life with 46 yards, TD
Brandon Jacobs scored an 8-yard touchdown in the Giants' Monday night loss to the Saints, but finished with just 36 yards on 13 carries.
The good news is that Jacobs appeared decisive on a handful of runs, including his touchdown run. The bad news is we didn't see enough of that decisiveness to predict that he will change his plodding ways. With or without Ahmad Bradshaw (foot), Jacobs may have a similar stat line when the Giants welcome the Packers next week. Playing from behind doesn't suit him.

Mon Nov 21 201100:19Jacobs' struggles continue in loss
Brandon Jacobs was held to just 21 yards on 12 carries in Sunday's loss to the Eagles.
He added three catches for 11 yards. Jacobs is now averaging just 49.3 yards per game filling in as the Giants' lead back in the absence of Ahmad Bradshaw the past three weeks, and has seen his season yards per carry fall to an unseemly 3.04. Even against a mediocre Saints' run defense, he'll be little more than an RB3/flex option in Week 12.

Sun Nov 13 201119:54Brandon Jacobs finds sledding tough
Brandon Jacobs rushed 18 times for 55 yards and added two catches for 17 yards in Sunday's loss to the 49ers.
Considering the degree of difficulty in terms of matchup today, Jacobs handled himself well. He ran hard and didn't dance at the line. However, D.J. Ware took over as the every-down back once the Giants fell behind by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Jacobs role for Week 11 against the Eagles will depend on Ahmad Bradshaw's health.

Mon Nov 7 201110:15Coughlin has praise for Jacobs
Coach Tom Coughlin had praise for Brandon Jacobs following Sunday's win over the Patriots.
Jacobs has taken a lot of heat for dancing at the line of scrimmage and tip-toeing his way into holes. But yesterday, he ran with power. "There wasnƒ?Tt any east/west or any thoughts of that today. I mean he just dropped his shoulder and ran and he pounded his way to some really nice runs," Coughlin said. With Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) out, Jacobs racked up 22 touches compared to seven for D.J. Ware and one for Da'Rel Scott.

Thu Nov 3 201112:31Brandon Jacobs will carry the load for Giants
Brandon Jacobs is "set to carry the load" in Sunday's game against the Patriots, according the Newark Star-Ledger.
Jacobs has been griping about his meager role behind Ahmad Bradshaw (foot), so now it's time to prove he's still got gas left in the tank. He'll start going forward and is a strong bet for 15-18 touches weekly, including all the goal-line work. Danny Ware will serve as the third-down back. If Jacobs was dropped in your league, scoop him back up as a potential RB2/flex play.

Tue Nov 1 201116:06Brandon Jacobs wants to play three more years
Brandon Jacobs says he wants to play another three years in the NFL.
Jacobs, who was garnered more headlines off the field lately than on it lately, said Tuesday "you're going to see a change" in him. "Not everybody likes their job," Jacobs said his wife told him. "The guy that works at Verizon doesn't want to go in every day, but he sucks it up and sells his cell phones. So you've got to do what you've got to do." Jacobs is making $2.9 million in base salary this season as Ahmad Bradshaw's caddy. If he plays another three years in the NFL, it likely won't be with the Giants.

Sun Oct 30 201123:31Brandon Jacobs doesn't care about Giants win
Brandon Jacobs opted for apathy after receiving just four Week 8 carries following his disparaging remarks about the Giants' running back usage.
"I've got nothing positive to say," said Jacobs, whose team won the game. "The most positive thing: I got family at home and I got a fast-ass car being delivered on Tuesday. That's it." Jacobs is averaging 3.0 yards per carry, so it's not as if he's earning more work. Ahmad Bradshaw led the Giants' backfield Sunday with 88 total yards on 18 touches.

Sun Oct 30 201116:24Brandon Jacobs struggles in return to field
Brandon Jacobs rushed four times for 10 yards and added one catch for zero yards in Sunday's win over the Dolphins.
Jacobs' return from his knee injury was an ugly mess. He bungled his first handoff from Eli Manning and had a well executed screen pass bang off his hands. Jacobs got a couple extra carries late when Ahmad Bradshaw was dealing with a foot injury, but the Giants knew they had to pass to win. Jacobs will only be a fantasy option if Bradshaw's foot woes cause him to miss time.
