Wed Nov 13 201311:20Brandon Jacobs not practicing Wednesday
Brandon Jacobs (knee, hamstring) is not practicing Wednesday.
Jacobs' chronic knee woes are acting up and he's coming off a hamstring pull. Clearly behind Andre Brown and Peyton Hillis anyway, he should have been dropped prior to the Giants Week 9 bye.

Fri Nov 8 201312:21Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) sits out Friday
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) did not practice Friday.
Jacobs sits out after being limited Wednesday and Thursday, which isn't a good sign. Look for the Giants to go with a two-man backfield, rotating Peyton Hillis and Andre Brown. Jacobs wasn't on the fantasy radar, anyway.

Thu Nov 7 201315:19Brandon Jacobs officially limited on Thursday
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) was officially limited in Thursday's practice.
The fact that Jacobs is still limited coming off the Giants' bye week suggests he'll be third on the running back totem pole for Sunday's game against the Raiders. Speaking Wednesday, coach Tom Coughlin stopped short of guaranteeing Jacobs would even be able to suit up. He's off the Week 10 fantasy radar.

Thu Nov 7 201307:52Coughlin not ready to commit to Jacobs
Coach Tom Coughlin stopped short of declaring Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) ready to contribute Sunday.
"Let's see how he does," Coughlin said. Jacobs hasn't played since pulling his hamstring in Week 6 loss to the Bears. Even if he's active against the Raiders this week, he won't have a big role. Peyton Hillis is expected to be the primary option and Andre Brown (leg) will be mixed in plenty.

Wed Nov 6 201315:17Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) limited Wednesday
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
Jacobs missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, but should be able to return following the Giants' Week 9 bye. With Andre Brown (leg) cleared to make his 2013 debut, his role is up in the air for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Mon Oct 28 201314:27Jacobs expects to be ready for Week 10
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) expects to return following the Giants' Week 9 bye.
Speaking Monday, Jacobs said he could have played in Sunday's win over the Eagles, but "decided to be cautious." It was the right move for a 31-year-old veteran, but Jacobs' role going forward is up in the air. Peyton Hillis has done a decent Jacobs impression during his absence, and the Giants are tentatively expecting Andre Brown (broken leg) back for Week 10. The time to sell Jacobs is now.

Sun Oct 27 201311:21Brandon Jacobs inactive for 2nd straight week
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's Week 8 game against the Eagles.
Jacobs pulled his hamstring back on October 10 and his 31-year-old body has predictably been slow to recover. The Giants have a bye in Week 9 and then Andre Brown (leg) could be back, making Jacobs a poor hold. Peyton Hillis is a desperation flex play Sunday, while Michael Cox will mix in on early downs. The rest of the Giants inactives: DT Shaun Rogers (knee), CB Jayron Hosley (hamstring), RB David Wilson (neck), TE Adrien Robinson (foot), QB Ryan Nassib and C Dallas Reynolds.

Sat Oct 26 201315:01Jacobs travels with team, remains 'doubtful'
The New York Daily News reports Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) remains "doubtful" for Sunday's Week 8 game against the Eagles.
Jacobs traveled with the team to Philadelphia and will go through pre-game warmups, but he's still not expected to play. The Giants will likely start Peyton Hillis again this week, with Michael Cox in a change-of-pace role.

Fri Oct 25 201313:17Giants list Brandon Jacobs doubtful for Wk 8
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Week 8 against the Eagles.
Peyton Hillis figures to be the Giants' primary back against a Philly run defense playing a lot better than it's been given credit for. Hillis could still push for 20 touches, giving him some flex appeal for desperate fantasy leaguers. Michael Cox missed lanes in last week's win over the Vikings, and could see his workload reduced. Still, this is not a productive fantasy backfield. Jacobs' body is predictably breaking down entering a Week 9 bye. Andre Brown is expected to return from I.R./recall by Week 10.

Thu Oct 24 201309:25Brandon Jacobs can't commit to playing Week 8
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) said he can't commit to playing Week 8.
Players are often overly optimistic regarding their injuries, so Jacobs candor should speak volumes. Even if he suits up, he'll likely be at less than 100 percent. It's going to be very difficult to trust any Giants running back against the Eagles this week.

Wed Oct 23 201321:03Brandon Jacobs criticizes fantasy owners
Brandon Jacobs had pointed but fair criticism of fantasy football leaguers after receiving death threats from people on Twitter regarding his Week 7 availability.
At least one "fan" threatened Jacobs' life if he didn't play against the Vikings. "I think sometimes fantasy football is good, but sometimes I think it has disconnected a lot of players from fans," said Jacobs. "That's all people ever talk about. You sit down to eat at a restaurant and people say, I have you on my fantasy team, you have to do something for me this week. I'm trying to enjoy my dinner, you know?" Conceded Jacobs, "People that understand us and know what we go through every day, I know that fantasy is just fun for them. It's cool to have people like that being involved that know what it is and don't take it too serious."

Wed Oct 23 201315:21Brandon Jacobs not practicing Wednesday
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.
Coach Tom Coughlin recently said that he has "no idea" if Jacobs will play this week against the Eagles. The Giants' backfield is in shambles. They mustered a pitiful 64 yards on 32 attempts against Vikings on Monday night with Peyton Hillis leading the way. Jacobs' Week 8 status remains up in the air.

Tue Oct 22 201313:44'No idea' if Jacobs will be ready for Week 8
Giants coach Tom Coughlin has "no idea" if Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) will be ready for Week 8.
Jacobs is "hoping and praying" he'll be ready, but Coughlin sounds pessimistic. Normally, the return of Jacobs wouldn't be that pressing, but the G-Men totaled a pathetic 64 yards on 32 rushes in Monday night's win. Peyton Hillis looked slower than a fullback in the lead role. Jacobs wouldn't be more than a desperation FLEX play if he suits up against the Eagles.

Tue Oct 22 201309:57Brandon Jacobs hopes he'll be ready Week 8
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) is "hoping and praying" he'll be ready for Week 8.
Jacobs said he knew he'd be unable to suit up for the game against the Vikings on Monday morning. "I'm getting better," he said, "and we'll go from there." Older players are often slow to recover from soft-tissue injuries and the Giants have a bye in Week 9. Even if Jacobs is able to play against the Eagles, he won't be an every-snap player.

Mon Oct 21 201319:05Brandon Jacobs officially inactive for MNF
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) is officially inactive for Monday night's Week 7 game against the Vikings.
Jacobs practiced on a limited basis Thursday and Friday before sitting out altogether Saturday. Peyton Hillis and Michael Cox will carry the load. Cox is expected to get the start, but both will play plenty. However, we expect the Giants to dial up pass play after pass play and attack a weak Minnesota secondary. Also inactive for the Giants are QB Ryan Nassib, CB Jayron Hosley, RB David Wilson, S Cooper Taylor, TE Adrien Robinson, and DT Johnathan Hankins.

Mon Oct 21 201310:39Report: Jacobs is doubtful for Monday night
According to FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo, Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) is doubtful to play in Monday night's game against the Vikings.
Garafolo is a former Giants beat writer that still has close ties to the team. Although Jacobs is officially listed as questionable, his Saturday setback spoke volumes. It leaves the Giants with only newly signed plodder Peyton Hillis and raw rookie Michael Cox in the backfield. Expect an extremely pass-heavy approach out of Eli Manning against Minnesota's leaky and banged-up secondary.

Sat Oct 19 201314:03Jacobs misses practice, listed questionable
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) did not practice Saturday and is questionable for Week 7 against the Vikings.
Jacobs practiced on a limited basis Thursday and Friday, so it's possible he could be dealing with a setback. He's a game-time decision, but is expected to play on Monday night. The Giants have just Peyton Hillis and Michael Cox behind him.
