Mon Dec 10 201220:04Jacobs to file grievance against the 49ers
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on Monday Night Countdown that suspended RB Brandon Jacobs will file a grievance against the 49ers in hopes of having his three-game ban lifted.
The incident that led to his season-ending suspension was apparently Jacobs writing on his Instagram account that he's "rotting away with the 49ers." Jacobs is now seeking his release from San Francisco in hopes of resurfacing with the Giants. The NFL Players Association will file the grievance on Jacobs' behalf.

Mon Dec 10 201217:39Brandon Jacobs wants to rejoin Giants
49ers suspended RB Brandon Jacobs is reportedly saying that he'll only play for one team going forward -- the Giants.
The 49ers likely reconsidered waiving Jacobs when they realized his intentions; to bad-boy his way out of San Francisco in hopes of a Giants reunion. So rather than cut him, the Niners stuck him on their reserve/suspended list and Jacobs won't be eligible to play during the final three weeks of the regular season.

Mon Dec 10 201217:0649ers suspend Jacobs for final 3 gms of year
49ers suspended RB Brandon Jacobs for the final three games of the regular season.
Updating a previous item, Jacobs was not waived. 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh isn't letting him off that easy. Jacobs had complained about his role in recent weeks, and he had no value to the Niners other than depth behind Frank Gore, new change-of-pace back LaMichael James, and short-yardage option Anthony Dixon. Rather than waive Jacobs and let him go to a fellow NFC playoff contender like the Giants, the 49ers are stashing him on the reserve/suspended list.

Sun Dec 9 201208:08Jacobs: 'I am rotting away' with the 49ers
Brandon Jacobs expressed frustration with his role in San Francisco by saying he is "on this team rotting away."
"This is by far the worst year I ever had, I'll tell you like I told plenty others," said Jacobs. The comments were posted on Jacobs' Instagram account after fans threw a fit because he posted pictures of himself playing for the Giants, instead of the 49ers. Despite being a good teammate for much of the season, Jacobs' frustration is starting to boil over. He has just five carries for seven yards on the season and isn't expected to be much of a factor down the stretch, even with Kendall Hunter out.

Tue Nov 27 201214:14Jacobs to take over as Gore's backup?
CSN Bay Area expects Brandon Jacobs to get the first crack at replacing Kendall Hunter as Frank Gore's primary backup.
It's the reason why Jacobs was kept on the roster as a healthy scratch for most of the season. LaMichael James has a good chance to be active with a few package plays, but he's behind Jacobs on the depth chart.

Sun Nov 11 201215:09Brandon Jacobs leads 49ers inactives
49ers declared RB Brandon Jacobs, QB Scott Tolzien, WR A.J. Jenkins, RB LaMichael James, S Trent Robinson, G Joe Looney and NT Ian Williams inactive for Week 10 against the Rams.
There are no surprises for a team that enters Week 10 as one of the healthier clubs in the league. However, there are questions about why the 49ers signed Jacobs, or used early draft picks on Jenkins and James if they were never going to play. All three players are well off the radar in redraft fantasy leagues.

Tue Oct 30 201210:15Brandon Jacobs confirms he's healthy
Brandon Jacobs confirmed that he's 100 percent healthy despite Monday night's scratch.
Credit Jacobs for not rocking the boat. "I'm ready whenever coach calls my name," he said. "I can't do anything about what's going on, but I can work hard and show coach that I'm ready, that I'm healthy." As long as Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter are healthy, there's no room for Jacobs.

Mon Oct 29 201219:18Jacobs among 49ers inactives for MNF vs. ARZ
Brandon Jacobs is a healthy inactive for Monday night's game against the Cardinals.
Jacobs wasn't on the injury report for the first time this week, so his inactivity is due to the successful combination of Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter. Anthony Dixon is the third running back due to his special teams prowess. Mario Manningham (shoulder) and LT Joe Staley (pneumonia) are active and will start. The rest of the San Francisco inactives are WR A.J. Jenkins, RB LaMichael James, OG Joe Looney, S Trenton Robinson, NT Ian Williams, and QB Scott Tolzien.

Fri Oct 26 201216:36Brandon Jacobs no longer on injury report
Brandon Jacobs is not listed on the 49ers' injury report for the first time this season.
Jacobs has dressed for recent game days, but he hasn't actually gotten any snaps or touches. "That remains to be seen," OC Greg Roman said when asked whether Jacobs would make his Niners debut on Monday Night Football against the Cardinals. "Ninety minutes before the game, we'll release our inactives."

Wed Oct 24 201209:54No added work for Jacobs coming
Coach Jim Harbaugh said he has no plans to change Brandon Jacobs' role.
The 49ers have the league's No. 2 rushing offense and are averaging 5.88 yards per carry as a team. Harbaugh is not going to back off his rotation of Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter. "I think that's all decided on the field," he said when asked if Jacobs will be getting a chance anytime soon.

Fri Oct 19 201200:49Jacobs active but sees no snaps in win
Brandon Jacobs didn't play an offensive snap in his 49ers debut in Week 7.
Jacobs was active for the first time in 2012 after battling knee issues all year, but there just isn't anywhere to play him with Kendall Hunter running well behind Frank Gore. The 49ers didn't have any goal-line looks, and that may have been the only spot we would have seen Jacobs make an appearance.

Sun Oct 14 201215:10Brandon Jacobs inactive for Giants game
49ers declared RB Brandon Jacobs, RB LaMichael James, WR A.J. Jenkins, QB Scott Tolzien, S Trenton Robinson, OG Joe Looney and DT Ian Williams inactive for Week 6 versus the Giants.
Jacobs has been taking full practices for two weeks, but he's not going to get a chance to face his former team. Anthony Dixon gets the nod as the third running back due to his special teams value. Frank Gore won't have to worry about Jacobs vulturing goal-line opportunities for another week.

Brandon Jacobs (knee) practiced in full all week, but is listed as questionable for Week 6 against the Giants.

Thu Oct 11 201217:29Jacobs: It wouldn't be smart to return now
A day after expressing frustration with his role in San Francisco, Brandon Jacobs has backtracked entirely.
Jacobs has had a couple of conversations with coach Jim Harbaugh this week, and now believes it would not be "smart" to rush back into the lineup. "We ironed it out. We got it done," said Jacobs. "I understand where coach is coming from. Coach understands me with him playing football and understanding the athlete and the competitive nature of wanting to get out and help the team win ... What's important is the long run."

Wed Oct 10 201218:11Brandon Jacobs 'frustrated' with 49ers
Brandon Jacobs says he's frustrated in San Francisco.
"Oh, very. Because I don't know anything. I don't know what's what," Jacobs said. "But I'm hanging in there. ... Let's say I'm just working and doing what I have to do and that's that." Jacobs said he was ready to return from his knee injury last week, but coach Jim Harbaugh insisted he was "still not quite there." Jacobs practiced Wednesday, but Harbaugh has been noncommittal on his Week 6 status. Jacobs' frustration is understandable, but with Kendall Hunter running well behind Frank Gore, he's an unneeded luxury for the Niners.

Mon Oct 8 201215:45Brandon Jacobs (knee) 'still not quite there'
According to coach Jim Harbaugh, Brandon Jacobs (knee) didn't make his 2012 debut Sunday because he's "still not quite there."
Jacobs got in a slate of full practices last week, so the issue might be more that the 49ers don't really have a place for him in the game-plan with Kendall Hunter running well behind Frank Gore. Jacobs will likely make his 2012 debut against the Giants on Sunday, but unless he's installed as the exclusive goal-line back, he should remain well off the fantasy radar.

Sun Oct 7 201215:15Brandon Jacobs inactive for 49ers versus BUF
49ers declared RB Brandon Jacobs, RB LaMichael James, WR A.J. Jenkins, NT Ian Williams, QB Scott Tolzien, OG Joe Looney and S Trent Robinson inactive for Week 5 versus the Bills.
Jacobs declared his knee 100 percent healthy, but the 49ers are giving him another week to shake the cobwebs loose. Frank Gore owners won't have to worry about Jacobs vulturing scores against the Bills' shaky run defense.

Sun Oct 7 201212:57Report: Brandon Jacobs to be inactive Sunday
According to USA Today, Brandon Jacobs (knee) will be inactive for Sunday's game against the Bills.
Jacobs won't threaten Frank Gore's goal-line workload in this one. Per the USA Today's source, the ex-Giant "should" be ready to make his Niners debut in Week 6.
