The St. Petersburg Times reports the Bucs will place the franchise tag on free agent K Connor Barth if they are unable to reach a long-term agreement.
The Bucs have made Barth a priority amongst their in-house free agents after he converted 26-of-28 field-goal attempts last season. He would be guaranteed roughly $2.6 million under the franchise tag in 2012.

Bucs restricted free agent K Connor Barth was tendered at the second-round level.
Barth isn't going anywhere as he'll play this season on a one-year, $1.9 million contract. Last season, Barth made all 16 of his field goals from 39 yards and in but was just 7-of-12 from 40-plus yards out. Fantasy owners can do better.
