Torii Hunter led the Tigers to a dramatic 7-6 win over the Athletics on Thursday with a walk-off three-run homer off Grant Balfour in the bottom of the ninth inning.
The Tigers were trailing 6-1 at one point, but they scored two in the sixth inning and four in the ninth to win it and avoid a four-game sweep. Hunter has homered in back-to-back games and is batting .308/.343/.480 with 16 home runs and 70 RBI this season. He has been a perfect addition for AL Central-leading Detroit.

Torri Hunter led the offensive attack in Saturday's 9-3 victory over the Yankees, going 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI.
Hunter also scored a pair of runs on the afternoon. He got the scoring started in this one with a sacrifice fly in the first inning, then capped off the offensive barrage with a three-run homer off Joba Chamberlain in the sixth. The 38-year-old outfielder remains on top of his game, hitting .312/.343/.477 with 13 homers and 60 RBI on the year.

The Nationals scored first in the game, for all the good that it did them. Eight of the Tigers' nine starters scored a run and seven drove in a run in the contest. Hunter had the best day of all, knocking in three. He hit .370 with seven homers and 22 RBI in July after entering the month with a .297 average and four homers.

Hunter is just the 136th player in major league history to join the 300-homer club. He finished the day 2-for-5 with three RBI and is now batting .292/.341/.407 with three homers and 27 RBI in 60 games this season.
