Hunted indicated after Sunday's Game 3 loss to the Orioles that he does not plan to retire, James Schmehl of MLive.com reports.
With the Tigers eliminated from the playoffs and Hunter set to become a free agent, there has been speculation that the veteran could call it quits after 18 major league seasons. However, Hunter said he's still chasing a World Series ring and, as of now, has no plans to retire. The 39-year-old said he'd welcome another stint with Detroit, but it remains to be seen whether the club will present him with an offer. Despite his advanced age, Hunter has remained very productive. In 142 games this season, Hunter slashed .286/.319/.446 with 17 home runs, 83 RBI and four stolen bases.

Hunter had a big day Monday, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run.
Hunter's blast off of Casey Fein broke a 6-6 tie in the ninth inning. The 39 year old outfielder has been productive this season, hitting .282 with 16 homers and 78 RBI for the season. Monday's home run was his first since July 31.
Tue Sep 9 201416:28Hunter (head) in lineup for Tuesday's game against Royals
Hunter (head) is in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals, MLB.com's Jason Beck reports.
Hunter exited Monday's game before it was completed due to a collision in the outfield, but it appears he is no worse for the wear Tuesday. Hunter will man right field and bat second Tuesday as he has done regularly the last few weeks.

Hunter went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's win over the Royals, but was removed in the final frame after an outfield collision two innings earlier, Matthew Mowery of the Oakland Press reports.
Hunter appeared to have a beat on a Lorenzo Cain fly ball to the gap in right-center field in the seventh, but center fielder Don Kelly apparently thought the same, as he collided with Hunter, knocking the glove off his hand. The ball eventually bounced away from the outfielders and resulted in an inside-the-park home run for Cain, with Hunter remaining on the ground for a few moments after hitting his head on the ground. He passed on-field concussion tests and remained in the game and then passed another exam later on, but it wouldn't be surprising if Hunter was held out of Tuesday's contest as a precaution.
Fri Sep 5 201415:34Hunter (foot) back in lineup Friday against Giants
Hunter (foot) is back in the lineup Friday against the Giants.
The 39-year-old fouled a ball off his right foot Wednesday, but it seems the decision to hold him out Thursday was largely precautionary. Hunter will return to right field and the two-hole in the order to face right-hander Jake Peavy, against whom he's 8-for-19 with a homer and seven RBI in his career.
Thu Sep 4 201416:16Updating previous report
Updating a previous report, Hunter has been held out of Thursday's lineup due to a right foot issue, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
Hunter fouled a ball off the foot Wednesday night and is apparently still dealing with some soreness. The veteran suspects a day out of the lineup is all he'll need to recover, making it likely he'll be back in action Friday against the Giants.
Thu Sep 4 201415:56Hunter out of lineup Thursday against Indians
Hunter is out of the lineup Thursday against the Indians.
Hunter's absence from the lineup is less an indictment of his recent production and more of a desire by manager Brad Ausmus to take a longer look at the newly-recalled Tyler Collins, who hit a three-run homer in his lone plate appearance with the club. Even at age 39, Hunter has done well to remain productive and maintain a hold on right field duties. He's batting .276 with 15 homers and 73 RBI over 119 games.

Hunter is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the White Sox.
Nothing to see here, as Hunter played in Game 1 and manager Brad Ausmus presumably just doesn't want to overexert the 39-year-old. J.D. Martinez will occupy right field in his absence.

Hunter is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's afternoon tilt versus the Yankees.
Not much to see here, as Hunter appears to be receiving just a routine day off. Don Kelly will get the start for the Tigers in left field while J.D. Martinez slides over to right. Hunter has been red hot at the plate recently, sporting a .350/.395/.475 slash during his current nine-game hitting streak. The veteran outfielder should return to the lineup for Friday's series opener against the White Sox.

Hunter is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Twins.
Manager Brad Ausmus is presumably just holding the 39-year-old Hunter out for the nightcap. Don Kelly will man right field and bat seventh against right-hander Yohan Pino in Game 1.
Sun Aug 17 201410:21Hunter out of lineup Sunday against Mariners
Hunter is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mariners.
Hunter will get a day off Sunday after four straight starts. The 38-year-old outfielder will be replaced by Ezequiel Carrera in the lineup, who will play center field and bat second for the Tigers.
Tue Aug 12 201417:30Hunter not in lineup Tuesday versus Pirates

Hunter will receive the day off after starting each of the last four games. Ezequiel Carrera will start in center field and bat second.
Fri Aug 8 201415:26Torii Hunter: (Hand) Returns To Action
Hunter (hand) is back in the lineup playing right field and batting fifth Friday.
He missed two games after leaving Tuesday's game with a hand contusion, and this is about as quick of a return as owners could hope for. So far Hunter has staved off Father Time to some degree, slashing .271/.308/.455 with 15 home runs in 95 games this season.
Thu Aug 7 201410:10Torii Hunter: (Hand) Out Again Thursday
Hunter (hand) remains out of the Tigers' lineup Thursday against the Yankees.
X-rays were negative after Hunter was hit on his left hand by a pitch Tuesday, but he's set to miss a second straight start as a result of the injury. J.D. Martinez will once again man right field in his absence with Ezequiel Carrera in center. Continue to consider Hunter day-to-day ahead of Friday's series opener in Toronto.
Wed Aug 6 201416:11Torii Hunter: (Hand) Not In Wednesday's Lineup
Hunter (hand) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.
Hunter left Tuesday's game after being struck by a pitch on the hand, and though X-rays were negative, he will get at least one day to rest. With Hunter out, J.D. Martinez will man right field, and Ezequiel Carrera will enter the lineup in center field.
Tue Aug 5 201422:25Torii Hunter: X-rays Negative On Injured Hand
Hunter left Tuesday's game with a hand contusion and X-rays were negative, MLive's Chris Iott reports.
This is excellent news, as Hunter's reaction following getting hit by a Dellin Betances pitch in the ninth inning suggested that there could have been a fracture. There's no official timetable for his return, but he should be considered day-to-day for now.
Tue Aug 5 201422:08Torii Hunter: Leaves With Hand Injury
Hunter left Tuesday's game in the ninth inning after being hit on the left hand by a pitch, MLive's Chris Iott reports.
He appeared to be in significant pain, and isn't one to typically come out of a game, so this could be serious. Dellin Betances, who touched 100 mph earlier in the inning, was on the mound for the Yankees, so it certainly should come as a surprise that Hunter was in pain after getting hit. Consider him day-to-day for now, and Don Kelly would be the likely replacement in the outfield should Hunter miss some time.

Hunter drilled his 15th homer as part of a 2-for-3 day Thursday against the White Sox.
He's lit on fire over the last three games, going 6-for-10 with a walk, and hasn't struck out in any of his last four contests. Despite being in decline, the 39-year-old's still a solid outfield roll in deeper formats.

Hunter went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in a 7-2 victory over the White Sox.
Hunter was knocked in by teammate Nick Castellanos twice Wednesday, once on a first inning home run and again on a seventh-inning single. The 39-year-old is enjoying a fantastic July, hitting .353/.385/.612 with five home runs in 85 at-bats.
Wed Jul 30 201422:29Hunter has a 3-hit night in win over ChiSox
Torii Hunter singled three times in four at-bats, scoring twice and driving in a run, in an easy win against the White Sox on Wednesday.
Hunter is sad to see the month of July come to a close. Going into Thursday afternoon's game, he is hitting .353 (30-for-85) in July. The 39-year-old outfielder has brought his numbers back towards respectability, now slashing .277/.304/.463 with 14 home runs and 61 RBI.
