Thu Sep 25 201415:49Flaherty out of lineup Thursday against Yankees
Flaherty is out of the lineup Thursday against the Yankees.
It looks like a scheduled day off for Flaherty, as the Orioles look to rest some of their regulars with the playoffs approaching. Flaherty is coming off of a 3-for-5, two-RBI outing Wednesday night.

Flaherty went 1-for-4 with a single while starting his third straight game for J.J. Hardy (back) Tuesday against the Red Sox.
Flaherty should fill in for at least another day or two since Hardy had a cortisone injection Tuesday. For Flaherty, he has a three-game hitting streak and is a modest 4-for-13 with two doubles. Flaherty has not hit much this season, but he has been serviceable at the plate when used over his last six starts: 8-for-27, one home run, one triple, two doubles.

Flaherty started at shortstop Wednesday, then moved to third base where he went 1-for-5 Friday against the Indians.
The defensively versatile Flaherty appears set to fill in for Manny Machado while Machado (knee) is on the DL. Flaherty continues to hover around the Mendoza line, but he has 15 home runs in 446 at-bats over the last two season.
Mon Jun 9 201423:48Ryan Flaherty homers in rare start
Ryan Flaherty went 2-for-3 with a homer against the Red Sox on Monday.
Flaherty has been a bit players since Manny Machado came off the DL; tonight's start was his second in June and third in two weeks. Of course, he didn't do much of anything to earn a bigger role while Machado was out, so he can't really complain. Even after tonight, he's hitting .221 with just two homers in 104 at-bats.

Sat May 24 201415:45Ryan Flaherty goes hitless in loss to Tribe
Ryan Flaherty had a rough day at the dish in Saturday's loss to the Indians, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout.
The rough afternoon drops Flaherty to a disappointing .202/.279/.287 on the season. With Steve Lombardozzi recalled on Saturday, he'll have to pick up the pace offensively or could risk demotion the next time they need to send out an infielder.

Thu May 22 201423:34Flaherty's 3-run homer not enough for O's
Ryan Flaherty went 2-for-5 with a double and a three-run home run in Thursday's extra-inning loss to the Indians.
Flaherty went deep off of Justin Masterson in the sixth inning, part of a five-run inning in which the Orioles temporarily took the lead. It was Flaherty's first homer of the season, as he has otherwise been impotent at the plate, slashing .207/.281/.299 in 96 plate appearances.

Ryan Flaherty went 2-for-4 with two RBI as the Orioles' No. 9 hitter on Monday.

Fri Apr 11 201421:44Flaherty hitless in loss to Blue Jays
Ryan Flaherty went 0-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch in Friday's loss to the Blue Jays.
Flaherty had a nice game against the Yankees on Tuesday, but he's still hitting just .152 (5-for-33) with a 9/1 K/BB ratio through 10 games. It will be interesting to see if the Orioles consider sending him down and going with Steve Lombardozzi and Jonathan Schoop at second base once Manny Machado (knee) comes of the disabled list.

Wed Apr 2 201421:57Ryan Flaherty goes hitless in loss
Ryan Flaherty went 0-for-4 and committed an error at third base Wednesday against the Red Sox.
Flaherty has started both games for the Orioles, going 0-for-7. The team intends to rotate Flaherty, Steve Lombardozzi and Jonathan Schoop between second and third while Manny Machado is out, so Flaherty is probably due to take a seat on Thursday.

Fri Mar 21 201415:54Ryan Flaherty goes 0-for-4 against Braves
Ryan Flaherty was the lone Orioles starter not to reach base Friday, going 0-for-4 against the Braves.
Flaherty has had a decent spring, hitting .282 with a homer and four doubles in 39 at-bats, but Jonathan Schoop has outplayed him and could win the starting second base job. Flaherty could still play third base initially if Manny Machado isn't ready, but he might fall back into a utility role afterwards.

Fri Mar 7 201417:35Ryan Flaherty homers, reaches four times
Ryan Flaherty went 2-for-2 with a two-run homer off A.J. Burnett and two walks Friday against the Phillies.
Flaherty played third base today. He was supposed to focus primarily on second this spring as he attempts to win the starting job there, but the Orioles do want to cover their bases in case Manny Machado isn't ready to go on Opening Day.

Sat Feb 1 201413:06Ryan Flaherty bulks up over the offseason
Steve Melewski of MASN Sports reports that Ryan Flaherty has bulked up this winter, adding nine pounds while working out in Baltimore with B.J. Surhoff and Mike Bordick.
The 27-year-old is in position to earn the Orioles starting second base job this spring, and appears very motivated to do so. He struggled in a part-time role during the 2013 campaign, slashing just .224/.293/.390, but did smack 10 homers and drive home 27 runs in only 246 at-bats.

Sat Dec 21 201316:49Flaherty likely to start at 2B for Orioles
MASN's Roch Kubatko believes Ryan Flaherty is in position to be the starting second baseman for the Orioles next season.
Former starter Brian Roberts is now with the Yankees, opening the door for Flaherty to grab the reins. Kubatko notes that Flaherty's only competition will likely be the recently acquired Jemile Weeks, who struggled to crack the lineup in Oakland in recent years. The 27-year-old batted .224/.293/.390 in a part-time role this past season.

Sun Dec 8 201320:01Orioles comfortable with Flaherty at second
Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette indicated Sunday that they are comfortable with Ryan Flaherty as the team's second baseman.
They haven't yet closed the door on Brian Roberts returning, but seem to be content with Flaherty beginning the season as the everyday second baseman. With top prospect Jonathan Schoop in the fold as well, the O's are unlikely to pursue an upgrade at the position this offseason.

Wed Sep 25 201322:52Flaherty hits 2 HR, drives in four vs. Jays
Ryan Flaherty went 2-for-2 with two home runs and four RBI against the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
Filling in at third base for the injured Manny Machado, Flaherty went yard in the third inning and again in the eighth. The homers gave him 10 in 238 at-bats this season, but he's hitting just .218/.290/.387 on the year. He'll likely get a few more starts before the year is out.

Tue Sep 24 201315:05Flaherty starting at third base Tuesday
Ryan Flaherty is starting at third base Tuesday against the Blue Jays.
Flaherty is making the start in place of Manny Machado, who left Monday's game with a left knee injury. He's unlikely to have much fantasy value the rest of the way.

Thu Jun 27 201323:50Ryan Flaherty knocks in two runs
Ryan Flaherty went 2-for-3 and knocked in a pair of runs versus the Indians on Thursday.
The Orioles have to decide whether it makes sense to keep both Flaherty and Alexi Casilla around after Brian Roberts comes off the DL. Given that Roberts is a tough guy to count on, they'd probably send down Flaherty before they risk waiving Casilla and sacrificing their depth. It's possible they'll use all three, but Flaherty probably won't have any fantasy value while Roberts is healthy.

Sun Jun 23 201316:01Ryan Flaherty goes deep twice Sunday
Ryan Flaherty went 2-for-4 with a pair of homers and three RBI in Sunday's loss to the Blue Jays.
It's the first two-homer game of Flaherty's career. The 26-year-old now has three longballs over his last three games, though he's still sporting an unsightly .191 batting mark.
