Erik Kratz went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over the Phillies.

It was the start of a nine-run frame against starter Cliff Lee and the Phillies' bullpen. Kratz singled later in the inning as well. Kratz has only had a small amount of playing time but has a .522 slugging percentage in 23 trips to the plate.

Erik Kratz launched a pinch-hit homer in Monday's loss to the Rays.
Kratz was just called back up Sunday when Casey Janssen went on the DL and took David Price deep in the eight to break up Tampa's shutout. As the third catcher, most of his playing time while he's up will probably be as a pinch-hitter.

Wed Mar 26 201409:00Blue Jays option C Kratz to Triple-A
Blue Jays optioned C Erik Kratz to Triple-A Syracuse.
The news was tweeted by Kratz's agent, which means that Josh Thole has won the backup catcher job. It's a surprising decision, as Kratz hit .400 (10-for-25) with two homers this spring, but apparently the Jays value Thole's ability to catch knuckleballer R.A. Dickey.

Erik Kratz hit a pair of homers against his former team to lead the Blue Jays past the Phillies 3-1 on Thursday.
The Phillies traded Kratz to the Jays for Brad Lincoln back in December. Kratz has been competing with Josh Thole for the backup gig in Toronto this spring, but there's little doubt that he'll be the choice. He's hitting .455 in 22 at-bats.

Erik Kratz launched a two-run home run in Friday's loss to the Brewers.
Kratz continues to thrive with Carlos Ruiz (hamstring) on the disabled list, hitting .286 with six homers and 14 RBI over his last 17 games. The 32-year-old journeyman has driven in a run in seven straight. Ruiz is aiming to return in about 10 days, but Kratz is worth considering in two-catcher formats right now.

Mon Jun 3 201322:14Erik Kratz hits seventh homer for Phils
Erik Kratz went 2-for-4 and hit his seventh homer Monday against the Marlins.
Kratz played so poorly during Carlos Ruiz's 25-game suspension that the Phillies considered demoting him and keeping Humberto Quintero when Ruiz returned. That didn't end up happening, and now Kratz has taken full advantage of Ruiz's latest absence, hitting five homers in 14 games since Ruiz got hurt. He now has 16 homers in 262 at-bats over the last two seasons.

Sun May 19 201316:43Kratz hits game-tying homer, Phils come back
Erik Kratz hit a game-tying solo home run Sunday as the Phillies came back to beat the Reds 3-2.
Kratz hit his solo shot off Reds closer Aroldis Chapman in the bottom of the ninth, and it was quickly followed by a walkoff solo blast from Freddy Galvis. Talk about unpredictable. Kratz will likely get regular playing time at catcher over the next few weeks while Carlos Ruiz recovers from the right hamstring strain that he suffered earlier in Sunday's game.
