Salty is eligible to return from the 7-day concussion disabled list on Sunday, but that's not going to happen. "It could go to the 15-day disabled list, but I don't know for sure," Redmond said. "He needs to make sure he's symptom free. When I say that, I mean headache-free, dizzy-free. ... As of right now, he's still resting." Jeff Mathis and J.T. Realmuto will continue handling the catching duties while Salty is out.

Sun Jun 1 201409:34Marlins place Saltalamacchia on concussion DL
Marlins placed C Jarrod Saltalamacchia on the 7-day concussion disabled list.
It's not clear when Salty suffered the injury, but he likely took a foul tip or two off the mask during Saturday's game. The catcher really slumped at the dish in May, batting just .177/.258/.241. He's been replaced on the roster by J.T. Realmuto, who should share time behind the plate with Jeff Mathis while Salty is out.

Sat May 17 201401:38Jarrod Saltalamacchia goes 4-for-5
Snapping an 0-for-23 skid, Jarrod Saltalamacchia had a four-hit game Friday against the Giants.
That's more hits he had in his previous 36 at-bats since May 3. Salty had a strong April, but he never figured to hit for average while playing half of his games in Marlins Stadium. Tonight bumped him back up to .273 from .242, but he won't stay there.

Tue Apr 29 201421:26Salty homers among three hits against Braves
Jarrod Saltalamacchia went 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Braves.
Salty was a triple shy of the cycle -- he had five in 2,071 career at-bats coming into the game, so the odds weren't in his favor -- and raised his line to .284/.404/.554 for the season. The catcher has also connected for five home runs in his first month with his new team. Maybe the only complaint with his season thus far is that all five of those homers have been solo shots, leaving him with just eight RBI to show for his otherwise productive April.

Salty was the Marlins' cleanup hitter behind Giancarlo Stanton today, but Garrett Jones is expected to occupy that spot initially. If Salty outhits him, then maybe he'll move up in the order. It'd help his fantasy value a bunch.

Fri Dec 6 201308:47Marlins make Jarrod Saltalamacchia official
Marlins signed C Jarrod Saltalamacchia to a three-year, $21 million contract.
The market for Saltalamacchia turned out to be a bit softer than expected, and the Marlins swooped in with a very reasonable three-year back. Salty will get to play near where he grew up, but the move isn't good news for his fantasy value, as he'll be on a poor offensive team and in a cavernous ballpark. The 28-year-old batted .244/.306/.457 during his three full seasons in Boston, averaging 18 homers and 60 RBI per year.
