Thu May 30 201323:20Saltalmacchia doubles twice for BoSox
Jarrod Saltalamacchia doubled twice and drove in three runs Thursday against the Phillies.
The second double just missed being a homer. Salty is striking out a ton, per usual, but he's hitting a solid .257/.333/.457 anyway. If he can keep his average up there, rather than fade back to .220-.230, it should help him quite a bit in free agency this winter.

Salty didn't start the game, but he took over for David Ross and hit a solo home run in the ninth inning. He's hitting just .241, but he's got power as evidenced by his 25 home runs last year. Until he turns it up, though, he is best left for AL-only leagues.

Fri Mar 15 201322:31Saltalamacchia belts first spring home run
Jarrod Saltamacchia connected on his first home run of the Grapefruit League season on Friday, helping to propel the Red Sox to a 5-0 victory over the Twins.
Saltalamacchia finished the evening 2-for-3, with his two-run blast coming off Liam Hendriks in the fourth inning. He has battled a sore back this spring, but it hasn't impacted his performance, as he's hitting .417 (10-for-24) with five RBI. He's unlikely to top the 25 homers that he smashed in 2012, but can still be counted on as a strong second catcher in deeper mixed leagues.
