Fri Jan 28 201114:06Athletics outright INF Tolleson to Triple-A
Athletics outrighted INF Steven Tolleson to Triple-A Sacramento.
Tolleson will be a spring training non-roster invitee. He was designated for assignment last week to make room for the newly-signed Brian Fuentes on the 40-man roster. The 27-year-old infielder batted .287 with one home run and four RBI over 49 at-bats down the stretch with the Athletics last year and had a nice season in the Pacific Coast League. If injuries beset Oakland's roster, Tolleson is a good bet to be amongst the first summoned reserves.

Athletics designated INF Steven Tolleson for assignment.
He was cleared to make room for the newly-signed Brian Fuentes on the 40-man roster. Tolleson, 27, batted .287 with one home run and four RBI over 49 at-bats down the stretch with the Athletics last season. He had a nice bounceback year in the minors -- granted, it was in the Pacific Coast League -- so it wouldn't be surprising if he drew some interest as a potential utility infielder.
Fri Aug 13 201014:18Athletics recall INF Tolleson
Athletics recalled infielder Steven Tolleson from Triple-A Sacramento.
Tolleson, who was up briefly at the end of April, going 1-for-4, was hitting .332/.412/.503 in 292 at-bats for Sacramento. It's out of line with his track record, but he deserves a look. If he plays well, it could cause the A's to part with Mark Ellis at season's end.

Athletics recalled INF Steven Tolleson from Triple-A Sacramento.
Tolleson, 26, was claimed off waivers from the Twins in February. The former 2005 fifth-round pick was off to a .333/.439/.500 start over his first 48 at-bats with Sacramento. He has a .278/.370/.403 batting line over parts of six seasons in the minor leagues. Though he has primarily played at second base, he can also be used at shortstop, third base and the outfield.
