While reports originally stated that Duncan was inclined to take the veteran minimum to make room for the likes of LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard, this deal is still a massive discount for a player like Duncan. Despite approaching 40 years old, Duncan still plays like an All-NBA talent and will now have some pressure taken off him next season with Aldridge joining him in the frontcourt.

Duncan announced Thursday that he will return to San Antonio next season, FOX Sports reports.

As most expected, Duncan will return for his 19th season with the Spurs. The terms of his new deal have not been released, but he's expected to take a significant pay cut, especially if the Spurs end up signing LaMarcus Aldridge to a max deal.

Duncan finished his 18th NBA season posting averages of 13.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 0.8 steals in 29 minutes per game through 77 games in 2014-15.

Entering this offseason as an unrestricted free agent, Duncan will most likely re-sign with the Spurs for his 19th NBA season. Should he decide to re-sign with the Spurs, Duncan will likely continue to start and produce at a high level as one of the best big men in the game for at least another season.

Duncan had another 20 and 10 game, his fourth for the series, ending with 27 points (11-16 FG, 5-8 FT) and 11 rebounds in 37 minutes Saturday in Game 7.

If this is the last time we see Tim Duncan on an NBA court, he didn't disappoint, but with the sort of play we saw, he could definitely go around again. Duncan shot at over 60 percent in five of the seven games in this series and only once had less than 10 rebounds. If he plays again, Duncan should maintain the same stellar value he's had over the latter portion of his storied career.

Duncan was unstoppable for stretches of Wednesday's game, and despite Old Man River Walk turning 39 years old in two days, he's still finding ways to stay fresh. It helps that there are no back-to-backs in the playoffs. giving him adequate rest time, and that rest also makes Duncan a more reliable option in daily games.

Duncan had a solid start to the 2015 NBA Playoffs, but unfortunately it didn't result in a win for the Spurs. Being the crafty and talented veteran he is, Duncan is likely going to continue playing well for the remainder of the series. Look for him to put out a strong effort in Game 2 on Wednesday.

If history serves true, he'll probably sit a few games down the stretch to rest, but he should still be owned in all leagues nonetheless.
