Thu Jul 9 201513:13Duncan and Spurs working to finalize two-year
Duncan and Spurs working to finalize a two-year, $10.4 million deal with a player option for second year, David Aldridge of TNT reports.
While reports originally stated that Duncan was inclined to take the veteran minimum to make room for the likes of LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard, this deal is still a massive discount for a player like Duncan. Despite approaching 40 years old, Duncan still plays like an All-NBA talent and will now have some pressure taken off him next season with Aldridge joining him in the frontcourt.

Duncan announced Thursday that he will return to San Antonio next season, FOX Sports reports.
As most expected, Duncan will return for his 19th season with the Spurs. The terms of his new deal have not been released, but he's expected to take a significant pay cut, especially if the Spurs end up signing LaMarcus Aldridge to a max deal.

Duncan finished his 18th NBA season posting averages of 13.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 0.8 steals in 29 minutes per game through 77 games in 2014-15.
Entering this offseason as an unrestricted free agent, Duncan will most likely re-sign with the Spurs for his 19th NBA season. The Spurs won 55 games this year, finishing just one game shy of the Rockets, who took the second seed in the Western Conference Playoffs. As a 39-year-old veteran, Duncan's near double-double average defies all signs of regression. Even if Duncan is one of the older players in the NBA, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich likes to rest his veteran players to get the most out of their aging bodies. When Duncan is given three days rest, he averages 18.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.5 blocks, and 1.2 steals in 31 minutes. Should he decide to re-sign with the Spurs, Duncan will likely continue to start and produce at a high level as one of the best big men in the game for at least another season.

Duncan had another 20 and 10 game, his fourth for the series, ending with 27 points (11-16 FG, 5-8 FT) and 11 rebounds in 37 minutes Saturday in Game 7.
If this is the last time we see Tim Duncan on an NBA court, he didn't disappoint, but with the sort of play we saw, he could definitely go around again. Duncan shot at over 60 percent in five of the seven games in this series and only once had less than 10 rebounds. If he plays again, Duncan should maintain the same stellar value he's had over the latter portion of his storied career.

Duncan was unstoppable for stretches of Wednesday's game, and despite Old Man River Walk turning 39 years old in two days, he's still finding ways to stay fresh. It helps that there are no back-to-backs in the playoffs. giving him adequate rest time, and that rest also makes Duncan a more reliable option in daily games.

Duncan exploded for 29 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal, and three blocks in 34 minutes of action Friday against the Rockets.
Duncan had quite a massive game Friday, and it certainly helped owners in fantasy. With the NBA playoffs nearing, Duncan may not see this kind of production again in the regular season, as he'll be preparing for the postseason. He should still be owned in all leagues though.

The Spurs took the game early and Duncan was able to rest for the majority. This could be an outlook for Duncan the remainder of the season -- resting him in favor of preparing the Spurs for the NBA playoffs. That being said, owners in fantasy playoffs are the ones to suffer, but Duncan is still worth a spot in all leagues for now.

Duncan posted 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block in 20 minutes of action Friday against the Celtics.
Duncan is averaging 14.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.0 steals, and 2.4 blocks over the last five games. It's encouraging to see his assists go up, as he's taking more of a passive facilitating role as the regular season is on its tail end. If history serves true, he'll probably sit a few games down the stretch to rest, but he should still be owned in all leagues nonetheless.

Duncan scored just three points (0-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT) along with eight rebounds and three assists in 28 minutes against Chicago on Sunday.
Duncan failed to score a field goal for the first time in his 17 year career. He has struggled in his last five games, averaging 8.2 points on 38% shooting, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.8 rebounds in 25 minutes per game. It is likely that the Hall of Fame forward will bounce back from this slump, but with only 20 games left before the playoffs begin, coach Gregg Popovich will probably limit Duncan's minutes down the stretch as he has done this season and in years past.

Duncan had five points (2-4 FG, 1-2 FT) to go with six rebounds, four assists, and three blocks in 19 minutes Wednesday against Sacramento.
Duncan has just 11 points over 40 minutes in his last two games combined, but that could be explained by the fact that both of those games were blowouts. It looks as though Greg Popovich will continue to rest his veteran big man whenever the opportunity presents itself, which slightly lowers Duncan's ceiling.

Duncan posted a team-high of 20 points (9-12 FG, 2-2 FT) during Wednesday's loss to the Blazers, to go along with eight rebounds, two assists and a steal in 28 minutes.
Duncan has had a nice stretch of four games, averaging 18.0 points, eight rebounds and one blocked shot. Those numbers would be even higher if he wasn't limited to 20 minutes during one of those four games. While Duncan will have nights where his minutes are down, he can still provide when he gets a full games worth of work, so continue to play him as long as he's in the lineup.
