Gortat as a dominant fantasy force Saturday, contributing right across the board. He's averaging a solid 13.3 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks for the season on 54 percent shooting from the field and will likely keep those numbers going, barring injury.

Gortat scored 12 points (4-8 FG, 4-6 FT), with 11 rebounds, one assist and one steal in 30 minutes during Tuesday's loss to the Hawks.
Gortat has had a strong year to this point, and he's benefitting in a big way from John Wall's strong play. Gortat will be a strong fantasy option moving forward.

Gortat scored 14 points (7-12 FG, 0-2 FT) with 13 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal in 27 minutes during Wednesday's win over the Pistons.
It's his third double-double of the season. Gortat hasn't seen his involvement in the offense increase with Bradley Beal sidelined, but he's putting up numbers comparable to his first campaign in Washington.

Gortat had 20 points (9-14 FG, 2-4 FT) with nine rebounds, two assists, and three blocks in 38 minutes in the win over the Bucks on Saturday.
Gortat has opened the season well with at least 18 points and seven rebounds in all three games. He is shooting a cool 63.4 percent from the field, while hauling in 9.3 boards per game. Gortat's fantasy owners couldn't ask for much more.

Gortat had 13 points (5-9 FG, 3-5 FT), 10 rebounds, a block, an assist and four turnovers in 26 minutes during Monday's preseason opener against the Bulls.
After signing a five-year, $60 million contract in the offseason, the 30-year-old Gortat is locked in as the starting center for the foreseeable future. The Wizards upgraded their frontcourt depth, but Gortat still figures to play approximately the same number of minutes. He averaged 13.2 points, 9.5 boards, 1.7 assists, 1.5 blocks and 0.5 steals over 33 minutes last season, shooting 54.2 percent from the field and 68.6 percent from the line.
Sun Jul 6 201409:11Marcin Gortat happy to be returning to D.C.
Marcin Gortat opened up for the first time since agreeing to a five-year, $60 million contract extension with the Wizards about why he chose to return to D.C.
"A lot of different reasons," Gortat said, when asked why he elected to stay with the Wizards. "First of all, I like the city. I like the team. I definitely feel comfortable over there... I definitely love the chemistry between me and John Wall. I think Bradley Beal is going to be a great player one day. Coach Randy [Wittman] believes in me, and I have a great relationship with him. So, the decision was real easy for me. I believe that we will be a special team for the next four or five years." Gortat had a great year with the Wizards last season, averaging 13.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks a game, while shooting 54.2 percent from the field. With little changing to the Wizards frontcourt, one could expect similar results for next season.

Tue Jul 1 201420:17Marcin Gortat agrees to Wiz extension
Washington C Marcin Gortat has agreed to a five-year, $60 million contract extension with the Wizards.
That didn't take long. Gortat was a great grab for the Wizards when they acquired him from the Suns last season, and his heart seems to be in Washington. Gortat averaged 13.2 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 81 games last year.

Tue Jul 1 201409:16Marcin Gortat meeting with Wizards Tuesday
Unrestricted free agent Marcin Gortat is meeting with the Washington Wizards on Tuesday.
The Wizards reportedly want to move quickly to re-sign Gortat after trading a first-round pick to the Suns for him last summer. Gortat averaged 13.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 0.5 steal in his first season with Washington as the 30-year-old meshed well with Nene up front. All indications point towards Gortat re-signing with the Wizards, but he'll remain a solid mid-level big man in fantasy circles regardless of his destination.

Fri Jun 27 201409:31Wizards on a Marcin Gortat recruiting trip
The Wizards are sending coach Randy Wittman, senior vice president of basketball operations Tommy Sheppard and others to Portland on July 1 to convince Marcin Gortat to re-sign with the Wizards.
The Wizards stole him away from the Suns last summer and Gortat was worth the first-round draft pick, averaging 13.2 points, 9.5 boards, 1.5 blocks and 0.5 steals on 54.2 percent from the field last season. The Wizards ran much of their offense through Gortat pick-and-rolls as the year went on, so he a full offseason could help his offense even more.

Mon Jun 23 201402:13Mavericks interested in FA Marcin Gortat
The Mavericks reportedly have "significant interest" in free agent center Marcin Gortat, but fear they'll be out-bid by the Wizards.
Gortat came into his own last season, helping the Wizards advance to the playoffs for the first time in five years before losing to the Pacers in the second round. Frontcourt partner Nene has already lobbied for Gortat to return with the Wizards, who have ample salary-cap space to lock up the 30-year-old bruiser with a multi-year contract. If they can't land Gortat, the Mavericks may pursue Pau Gasol in free agency or try to trade with the Knicks for Tyson Chandler.

Tue May 27 201416:51Nene stumps for Marcin Gortat to re-sign
Nene recently lobbied for free agent Marcin Gortat to re-sign with the Wizards this summer.
Washington's two big men developed a great chemistry as the season progressed, and the Wizards would do well to keep their frontcourt intact. Nene even dipped into the Jerry Maguire playbook to express his admiration for Gortat, saying, "He completes me ... On the court." With Trevor Ariza also heading into free agency, Washington will have to make some important decisions in the coming months.

Sat May 17 201412:37Marcin Gortat would 'love' to re-sign w/ Wiz
Marcin Gortat said that he would "love" to re-sign with the Wizards as a free agent this summer, citing John Wall as a major draw.
"There are a few different things I'm going to look at [in a team] and definitely one the biggest things for me is a point guard," Gortat said. "Obviously John is a tremendous talent. He's definitely going to get better next year." Wall led the NBA in total assists this season while playing in all 82 games for the first time in his career, and his chemistry with Gortat may be enough to keep the Polish Hammer in D.C.

Fri May 16 201420:58Gortat won't play for Team Poland this summer
Free agent Marcin Gortat said that he won't play for Team Poland this summer.
No surprise there. Gortat is looking at a nice payday with some decent control over where he eventually lands, so risking injury isn't worth it this time around.

Thu May 15 201422:58Marcin Gortat scores 19 points in loss
Marcin Gortat scored 19 points vs. the Pacers on Thursday with six boards, one assist and one turnover in 41 minutes.
He was probably Washington's best player tonight and did a great job setting screens to set the tone on offense. Gortat had a great year in his first campaign with the Wizards and he should have a similar role heading into next season.

Tue May 13 201421:22Gortat, Wall dominant in Game 5 win at Indy
Marcin Gortat had 31 points, 16 rebounds, a steal and a block, and John Wall knocked down open jumpers, hitting 11-of-20 shots and three 3-pointers for 27 points, five rebounds and five assists as the Wizards crushed the Pacers 102-79 in Tuesday's Game 5 win.
The series is now 3-2 in favor of Indy, but they looked like anything but the No. 1 seed tonight. It appeared they had righted the ship, but this was a big step backwards as they head to Washington for Game 6 on Thursday, where the Wiz have a chance to force a Game 7 (in Indy). Gortat became the first Washington player to rack up a 30 & 15 playoff game since Moses Malone in 1987. Bradley Beal added 18 points, eight boards, four assists and two 3-pointers tonight, while Trevor Ariza double-doubled with 10 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the easy win. And to add insult to injury, the Wizards outrebounded the Pacers 62-23 tonight, which is not a misprint.

Mon May 5 201421:59Marcin Gortat grabs 15 boards, scores 12
Marcin Gortat grabbed 15 boards during Monday's Game 1 win over the Pacers, scoring 12 points with two assists and three blocks on 4-of-12 shooting.
The Wizards owned the glass tonight and won the offensive-board battle 17-6 tonight. That led to a win second-chance points of 19-5. The Wizards didn't play their usual style with just 14 fast-break points, which was less than Indiana's 20. Gortat and Nene are definitely not like Pero Antic of the Hawks and they're presence went a long way tonight to go up 1-0. Game 2 is on Wednesday.

Thu May 1 201415:58Marcin Gortat threatened after beating Bulls
A man threatened Marcin Gortat after Game 5 on Tuesday, but he was reported to NBA security and a Wizards' spokesperson said the situation has been "handled."
"He was saying that there's a bomb in the plane [and] my country is going to get bombed," explained Gortat. The Wizards had an otherwise uneventful trip home from Chicago following their series-clinching victory, and this awful incident should already be in the rearview mirror as they look ahead to playing either the Pacers or Hawks in the second round.

Sun Apr 27 201410:56Marcin Gortat avoids suspension
Marin Gortat was going through his normal routine of running onto the court to high-five his teammates during a timeout in Game 3, but that resulted in him being stuck in the middle of the floor when a mini-fight was breaking out between Nene and Jimmy Butler.
Leaving the bench during an altercation is an automatic suspension, but the league used some common sense here and gave Gortat a break. "I'm always one of the first guys jumping onto the court, trying to give a high-five to players and when I seen the fight was going on, I just froze," Gortat said. "I was right there on the middle of the court. Just because I was there, I could've put myself and my team in trouble." And the Wizards are going to need him with Nene suspended for today's game.

Sat Apr 26 201409:38Marcin Gortat's Game 4 status in limbo
Marcin Gortat left the bench during an altercation between Nene and Jimmy Butler on Friday night, leaving his Game 4 availability in question.
Players are usually ejected and suspended for leaving the bench during an altercation but Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau called a timeout during the fracas, which makes the situation a bit cloudy. Gortat was not punished for leaving the bench during the contest so he should be okay. However, we'll monitor his status as Game 4 approaches.

Sun Apr 20 201421:55Marcin Gortat double-doubles in Wizards win
Marcin Gortat double-doubled with 15 points, 13 rebounds and one block in a hard-fought victory in Chicago on Sunday.
He made a key put-back to give Washington a six-point lead in the game's final minute, and combined with Nene for a decisive frontcourt advantage against Joakim Noah, Carlos Boozer and Taj Gibson. Every starter reached double-digits in the Wizards' impressive victory, and veteran Andre Miller gave them a nice lift with 10 points during a late surge off the bench.
