Wed Apr 17 201323:42Derrick Williams scores 21 in finale
Derrick Williams had 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, a steal and two 3-pointers on 7-of-15 shooting in Wednesday's win over the Spurs.
Williams is a tough guy to figure out for next season, as he was up and down all year, and Kevin Love was out for most of it. We'll have to see how things shake out this summer, but regardless of what happens, he played well enough for most of the season to be given consideration later in most drafts.

Wed Apr 17 201309:34Derrick Williams to work hard in offseason
Derrick Williams plans to work with assistants Bill Bayno and Shawn Respert in the offseason.
Williams needs to round out his game, but he's proven he is better than anyone thought he was this season. His long-term future in Minnesota remains cloudy at best, but he did say that he'd like to remain with the Timberwolves. Of course, that's just about the only thing he can say and not get slammed for it, so we'll take it with a grain of salt.

Tue Apr 16 201300:24Derrick Williams scores 18 points on 40 mins.
Derrick Williams scored 18 points in Monday's 96-80 loss to the Jazz, adding six boards and one steal in 40 minutes.
With Nikola Pekovic dealing with a left calf contusion, the Wolves needed to get a little extra offense out of Williams tonight. He didn't get much help in the frontcourt with Greg Stiemsma (six points and eight boards) and Dante Cunningham (12 points and five boards), so Williams is really the only player worthy of a start in Wednesday's finale against the Spurs.

Thu Apr 11 201301:34Derrick Williams double-doubles in loss
Derrick Williams hit just 3-of-12 shots and a 3-pointer on Wednesday, but still managed to finish with a double-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and a block in 36 minutes.
He got some extra run after Dante Cunningham was a late scratch due to a hamstring injury. If DC continues to miss time with the injury, it should mean Williams plays plenty of minutes down the stretch. Williams had just five points on Tuesday, but bounced back tonight.

Wed Apr 10 201301:32Derrick Williams disappears in loss
Derrick Williams hit just 2-of-8 shots and a 3-pointer for five points in Tuesday's loss.
He didn't have a rebound or anything else worth noting, while Dante Cunningham came off the bench for 11 points, while Chase Budinger added 17. This is now a three-headed monster and Williams is probably not going to be too reliable going forward with so many wings now healthy. Williams played just 20 minutes tonight.

Wed Apr 3 201322:22Derrick Williams scores 15 pts in 19 minutes
Derrick Williams started at PF and scored 15 points with six rebounds on Wednesday, but he played just 19 minutes as Dante Cunningham cut into his role off the bench.
Cunningham finished with eight points, eight rebounds and one steal in 29 minutes. D-Will's playing time has been foundering since Andrei Kirilenko's return a few weeks back, and his usual lack of assists, steals and blocks makes him tough to deploy in 12-team leagues.

Thu Mar 28 201300:55Derrick Williams bounces back Wednesday
Derrick Williams bounced back from a 17-minute dud on Tuesday with 15 points, six rebounds and a 3-pointer on 6-of-12 shooting in Wednesday's tough loss to the Lakers.
He played 29 minutes tonight and looked much better. He's hit or miss again, but is generally worth using on most nights as long as he's starting. Dante Cunningham got the minutes hit tonight, playing just 19 of them, but still managed to hit 9-of-15 shots for 18 points and four rebounds. Williams is still the guy to own, for now.

Tue Mar 26 201322:45Derrick Williams quiet in win over Pistons
Derrick Williams played just 17 minutes and hit 2-of-3 shots (both 3-pointers) for six points and five rebounds in Tuesday's win over the Pistons.
He got into early foul trouble, Rick Adelman went with Dante Cunningham, and Williams was never able to get into a groove tonight. This was particularly disappointing after Sunday's 28-point explosion, but there's a chance he'll bounce back over the rest of the week. Cunningham played 27 minutes, but managed just eight points, seven rebounds and two steals of his own tonight.

Sun Mar 24 201322:06Derrick Williams ties career-high w/ 28 pts
Derrick Williams tied his career-high with 28 points in Sunday's tough loss to the visiting Bulls -- he made 11-of-18 field goals with three 3-pointers, five rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
The 11 field goals were a new career-high for D-Will, who unfortunately may have been on fantasy benches after averaging 8.0 points in the Wolves' previous three games. He was just 4-of-11 on jump shots, but he also shot 7-of-7 at the rim against a Bulls team that was playing without Joakim Noah. With this type of upside and Kevin Love's return still up in the air, D-Will is hard to bench, especially with four games on the schedule.

Sat Mar 23 201301:25Williams disappears in Friday's win over PHO
Derrick Williams disappeared in Friday's blowout win over the Suns, scoring four points on free throws with six rebounds and no steals or blocks in 14 minutes.
Williams missed both of his shot attempts and the lopsided nature of the game certainly exasperated his issues, but with the Wolves getting Nikola Pekovic, Andrei Kirilenko and Chase Budinger back he has lost a lot of his luster. The Wolves have a great schedule to finish the year, but owners shouldn't be attached at the hip here.

Tue Mar 19 201301:26Derrick Williams has an off night vs. Grizz
Derrick Williams shot 3-of-12 from the field for eight points with six boards, two assists and one 3-pointer in 26 minutes against the 92-77 loss to the Grizlies.
The Wolves will travel to Sacramento for Thursday's game with their tails between their legs following this loss. They shot 33.7 percent from the field and the starting five scored a measly 33 points. The Grizzlies have the best defense in the NBA and this shouldn't come as a surprise. Williams should be owned in all leagues.

Wed Mar 13 201322:54Derrick Williams quiet again in loss
Derrick Williams had 10 points, five rebounds, a block and a 3-pointer in 28 minutes of Wednesday's loss.
He had 13 & 5 on Tuesday night, and has cooled off this week. However, with news that Kevin Love won't be back anytime soon, if at all, Williams is due to bounce back soon, so stick with him. Dante Cunningham got hot and hit 5-of-6 shots for 12 points and three boards, but Williams is a much better player to own for now.

Tue Mar 12 201323:48Derrick Williams scores 13 in easy win
Derrick Williams had 13 points, five rebounds and a block on 5-of-10 shooting in just 24 minutes of Tuesday's shockingly easy win over the Spurs.
More minutes would have been nice, but this one was over early and Williams has been getting heavy run lately. Hopefully he was just getting a breather and will bounce back on Wednesday against the Pacers.

Thu Mar 7 201300:20Derrick Williams plays well in starting role
Derrick Williams scored 16 points in the Timberwolves' comeback win on Wednesday, hitting one 3-pointer with eight rebounds and two steals.
It wasn't all good, as D-Will made 4-of-12 FGs and 7-of-11 FTs with zero assists, zero blocks and two turnovers. The Wolves aren't exactly 'developing' him, since injuries have left them with no alternatives, but either way he'll continue to play huge minutes with Kevin Love (hand), Nikola Pekovic (abdomen) and Andrei Kirilenko (calf) all out of commission.

Mon Mar 4 201323:12Derrick Williams scores season-high 25 points
Derrick Williams scored a season-high 25 points to go with 10 boards, one assist and one 3-pointer in 45 minutes against the Heat on Monday.
It was his fourth 20-10 game of the year and third time in his last five games. Williams is red hot with some blocks and triples to go with those double-doubles and he should be owned in all leagues.

Sun Mar 3 201300:39Derrick Williams leads Wolves w/ 23 points
Derrick Williams led the Wolves with 23 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in 40 minutes vs. the Blazers.
D-Will's month-long value is weighted down by 42.8 percent FG shooting, 65.5 percent FT shooting, 0.5 assists and 0.5 blocks. He has shown signs of sustained competence in recent weeks, however, and his combination of points, rebounds and 3-pointers make him a must-own player with the Wolves' frontcourt in tatters and a terrific schedule ahead -- they play four games in each of the next six weeks.

Fri Mar 1 201308:34Derrick Williams' confidence is soaring now
Derrick Williams said that his recent improved play is due to an increase in confidence.
"Just more confident really," he said. Over the last five games, Williams is averaging 18.8 points and 10.6 rebounds. "Rebounding really is what got me going. Trying to get every rebound has got my confidence up, not really knocking down shots." Williams is a must-own player in every league with Kevin Love (hand), Nikola Pekovic (abdomen) and Andrei Kirilenko (calf) all sidelined.

Fri Mar 1 201301:20Derrick Williams turns in another nice line
Derrick Williams had another productive outing on Thursday with 15 points, eight boards, one assist, one block and one 3-pointer in 39 minutes against the Lakers.
He'll need to be relied upon heavily with Andrei Kirilenko (calf) and Nikola Pekovic (abdomen) hurt. Williams came in hot even before this game and in his previous five games he averaged 18.8 points, 10.6 boards, 0.8 steals, 0.6 blocks and 1.2 triples. He's a must-own player right now with his favorable schedule. Dante Cunningham (five points, three boards, two steals and one block in 33 minutes) didn't do much in the start.

Wed Feb 27 201300:28Derrick Williams plays well again in loss
Derrick Williams hit 8-of-16 shots for 21 points, 12 rebounds, two steals, a block and two 3-pointers in Tuesday's overtime loss to the Suns.
Williams is feeling it again after a poor game on Friday, but still came in averaging 17.2 points, 9.2 boards and a 3-pointer over his previous five games. He's seeing heavy minutes and played 40 of them tonight, and should continue to roll for as long as Kevin Love is out. The Wolves play four times per week in each of the next six scoring periods, meaning Williams looks like a must-own player, at least until Love is back, which could happen in a couple weeks.

Sun Feb 24 201318:32Derrick Williams goes for 23 points vs. GSW
Derrick Williams had a double-double with 23 points and 12 boards in 38 minutes against the Warriors on Sunday.
He added a block and bounced back nicely from his 3-of-14 from the field on Friday. Williams isn't very consistent, but he's worth owning in standard leagues since he shoots threes and has become a better rebounder this year.
