Sat Feb 23 201322:14Tyler Zeller solid w/ 16 pts, seven rebounds
Tyler Zeller neared his career-high with 16 points vs. the Magic, making 7-of-12 FGs with seven rebounds, one steal, one block, and zero turnovers in 25 minutes.
Zeller has regressed in the past few weeks, ceding playing time to Marreese Speights, but he played with newfound aggression vs. Nikola Vucevic tonight. Give him a long look if you're targeting a low-end PF/C for points, rebounds and a trickle of blocks.

Wed Feb 20 201323:45Tyler Zeller has another nice game vs. NO
Tyler Zeller played 22 minutes against the Hornets during 105-100 win, shooting 5-of-7 from the field for 10 points with two rebounds.
There may have been a fire lit up him with the trade that acquired Marreese Speights (four points and six boards in 18 minutes). In his previous seven games, Zeller shot 47.1 percent from the field, which is up from an ugly 36.6 percent in January. This does have timeshare written all over it, so neither player is must-own guys at this point.

Wed Feb 13 201322:27Tyler Zeller catches fire in loss to Spurs
Tyler Zeller came through with 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists and a block on 7-of-10 shooting in Wednesday's loss.
He failed to score in his previous game and hadn't scored more than eight points in his previous six games. If you had him in your lineup, congratulations. But don't look for him to stay this hot going forward. He'd hit double digits in scoring in just two of his last 11 games, scoring 16 points in both of them.

Tue Feb 12 201308:34Scott not concerned with Zeller's struggles
Byron Scott brushed off concerns about Tyler Zeller's recent struggles.
"Most rookies have to go through this," he said. The lip service is nice, but the reality is Zeller has been woefully bad in February and hasn't eclipsed more than 30.5 minutes in any game. He's averaging just 5.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 0.7 blocks on 37.5 percent shooting in February compared to 8.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks on 36.6 percent shooting in January. He's also taking 4.0 shots per game in February compared to 8.0 in January.

Tue Feb 12 201300:46Zeller scoreless as Cavs fall
Tyler Zeller missed both of his field goal attempts and finished with zero points, eight rebounds and one block in 25 minutes on Monday against the Wolves.
Zeller looked awful in this game and eventually one has to wonder how long he can keep his job playing like this. Marreese Speights (10 points, three boards, 20 minutes) didn't set the world on fire but after tonight's embarrassing loss it's possible that Byron Scott entertains a change.

Sat Feb 2 201300:50Zeller implodes on Friday vs. the Pistons
Tyler Zeller played just 17 foul-plagued minutes on Friday against the Pistons, scoring two points on 1-of-5 shooting with two rebounds and no other stats.
Zeller has struggled to be consistent this season and can often be found getting pushed around underneath the hoop. With Marreese Speights (17 points, eight rebounds) making a statement tonight, owners shouldn't feel bad cutting bait even if we're not entirely sure that the baton has been passed.

Tue Jan 29 201322:13Tyler Zeller shoots the ball well Monday
Tyler Zeller shot 6-of-9 from the field and made all four of his free throws for 16 points, five boards and one block in 36 minutes.
He's been a bit of a disaster at shooting the ball from the field and Tuesday was the first game over his last 18 in which he shot over 50 percent. Conversely, Zeller has been terrific at the foul line since December 1, shooting 86.3 percent. He shot 81 percent in his last year at UNC, so that clip could be sustainable. Marreese Speights (12 points and five boards in 21 minutes) is going to eat into his playing time, but Zeller is still worth a look in standard leagues.

Fri Jan 25 201323:01Zeller quiet in win over Bucks
Tyler Zeller scored six points with six rebounds and one steal in Friday's win over the Bucks.
Zeller isn't a lock to be productive in standard leagues and tonight was one of those bad nights. He still logged 30 minutes and Marreese Speights only logged 18 minutes, so it wasn't like Zeller saw a major dip in playing time.

Fri Jan 25 201316:36Tyler Zeller expected to start rest of way
The Akron Beacon-Journal expects Tyler Zeller to start for the rest of the season.
Marreese Speights' arrival will have an impact on Zeller, but it would be silly to take him out of the starting five. The No. 17 overall pick is a core piece of the Cavs' future and is gaining invaluable experience while learning on the job. Speights could be gone as soon as next season. Look for Zeller to still hover around 30 minutes per night the rest of the way, helping fantasy owners in blocks and boards.

Thu Jan 24 201308:44Tyler Zeller knows he has to strengthen up
Tyler Zeller admitted that he has to bulk up before next season.
"I've always had issues with having too little body fat," he said. "I've always needed to put on more weight." Zeller is expected to work on his strength specifically as it will allow him to bang around with bigger bodies beneath the basket, but he's performed well enough for fantasy owners after being thrown into the fire. As a starter, Zeller is averaging 10 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 35 minutes per game.

Tue Jan 22 201322:24Tyler Zeller struggles with shot on Tuesday
Tyler Zeller shot 2-of-10 from the field for six points with 10 boards, four assists and three blocks in Tuesday's 95-90 win over the Celtics.
Zeller has been terrific at blocking shots lately and pulling down boards. In his last four games, he averaged 3.0 blocks and 9.8 boards in 37.5 minutes. His troublesome shooting of 41.2 percent from the field will hold him back, but he's worth owning in standard leagues.

Sat Jan 19 201323:53Tyler Zeller steps up for Cavaliers in Utah
Tyler Zeller racked up 13 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks vs. the Jazz on Saturday, while committing just two fouls in 38 minutes.
If nothing else, Anderson Varejao's quad injury has ensured that the Cavs' rookie center will get plenty of meaningful experience. Despite having no competition for minutes, Zeller is a borderline fantasy option until he starts making shots with consistency -- he made 6-of-12 FGs vs. Utah, the first time he's shot at least 50 percent since Dec. 19, a span of 14 games.

Fri Jan 18 201309:30Scott: Tyler Zeller getting more comfortable
Byron Scott believes that Tyler Zeller is "getting more comfortable on the floor."
Zeller has been thrown into the fire with Anderson Varejao's quad injury, and he's learning with each passing day on the job. Over his last 15 games as a starter, Zeller is averaging 10 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks, so fantasy owners in need of a big man shouldn't be overlooking the rookie.

Thu Jan 17 201301:53Tyler Zeller goes for 11, 9 and 2 blocks
Tyler Zeller hit 3-of-7 shots and 5-of-5 free throws for 11 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in Wednesday's win.
He's averaging 8.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks over his last five games, but hasn't hit 50 percent of his shots in a game in nearly a month (Dec. 19). He's shooting 31 percent from the floor in his last five games, but is a good free throw shooter, clocking in at 91 percent over those five. If his shot ever starts falling, he's going to be a sneaky good fantasy center to own until Anderson Varejao returns from his knee injury.

Sat Jan 12 201301:46Zeller struggles on offense, good on defense
Tyler Zeller hit just 1-of-6 shots for two points on Friday, but added eight rebounds, two steals, and three blocks in 33 minutes.
His shooting has held his value down since taking over an everyday role but he's bound to get that figured out and we think Zeller should be owned in most 12-team formats.

Wed Jan 9 201321:58Tyler Zeller double-doubles vs. Hawks
Tyler Zeller hit just 3-of-8 shots but finished with 11 points, 12 rebounds and zero blocks in Wednesday's win over the Hawks.
That's a great way for him to kick things off for his new owners after news broke earlier that Anderson Varejao was going to miss another month or two with his knee injury. Zeller is having issues shooting the ball, shooting 38 percent over his last five, and just 43 percent on the season, but should continue to improve as the season moves along.

Fri Jan 4 201309:09Tyler Zeller adjusting to pace of game
The Cavs coaching staff wants Tyler Zeller to stop playing at "a million miles an hour" at times.
In other words, the game hasn't "slowed down" for the rookie, who has been tossed into the fire with Anderson Varejao's knee injury. To his credit, Zeller is averaging 11. points, 7.0 rebounds, 0.6 steals and 1.0 blocks as a starter, but he's shooting just 41.7 percent from the floor and routinely gets outmuscled by bigger opponents. He'll continue to start while Varejao is sidelined.

Sat Dec 29 201201:02Tyler Zeller still looking good as a starter
Tyler Zeller got his fifth start of the season on Friday and had 12 points, seven rebounds, one steal and one block in 37 minutes against the Hawks.
Anderson Varejao is expected to miss another week, so Zeller should be putting up this type of production for the next three games. Tristan Thompson wasn't too shabby tonight with eight points, eight boards and one block in 36 minutes.

Sat Dec 22 201223:38Tyler Zeller double-doubles in fill-in start
Starting again at center in place of Anderson Varejao (knee), Tyler Zeller had 11 points, 10 rebounds and one steal before fouling out against the Bucks.
Zeller shot 4-of-14 from the field and didn't block any shots, but his blue-collar effort helped the Cavs upset the Bucks in Milwaukee. He'll head right to the bench once Varejao is healthy, but he's earned a hearty pat on the back on his way.

Fri Dec 21 201223:13Tyler Zeller has a solid showing on Friday
Tyler Zelller played 32 minutes in his second start at center and had 12 points, seven boards, one assists and two blocks on Friday.
He didn't quite put up a 20-spot like he did on Wednesday, but this isn't exactly discouraging. Zellers has been playing better than Tristan Thompson this year, but his value isn't quite worthy of being on a roster in standard leagues with Anderson Varejao only day-to-day.
