Thu Oct 10 201314:42Tyler Zeller out for second preseason game
Tyler Zeller (hip) will not play against the Magic on Friday.
He had hoped to not miss any time from his injury on Saturday, but his strained hip flexor will cost him a week of action. Zeller will come off the bench this year and his role is unlikely to be as prominent as last season.

Mon Oct 7 201315:31Tyler Zeller out Tues. w/ strained hip flexor
Tyler Zeller has a strained left hip flexor and won't play in Tuesday's game vs. Milwaukee.
An MRI confirmed the diagnosis and we're considering him day-to-day until further notice. Anderson Varejao, Tristan Thompson and Anthony Bennett should each pick up more playing time in Zeller's absence.

Sat Oct 5 201315:39Tyler Zeller suffers strained hip on Saturday
Tyler Zeller suffered a strained left hip in Saturday's scrimmage.
He is calling himself day-to-day and the injury doesn't sounds too serious. Zeller collided with Anderson Varejao and hobbled off to the sidelines under his own power. He's hopeful to be back on the court on Monday, but the injury is likely to keep him out of practice and some preseason action.

Wed Sep 11 201309:09Tyler Zeller adds 10 pounds in muscle
Tyler Zeller added 10 pounds this summer and hopes to gain even more muscle mass as he prepares for the 2013-14 season.
Zeller was thrown into the fire as a rookie after Anderson Varejao's season ended prematurely due to a split quad muscle and a life-threatening pulmonary clot. Zeller averaged 8.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 55 starts, but he'll play limited minutes this year with Varejao healthy and Andrew Bynum working his way back from knee surgery.

Sat Aug 10 201319:19Tyler Zeller projects as Cavs 'fifth big man'
Tyler Zeller projects as the "fifth big man" for the Cavaliers, behind Anderson Varejao, Andrew Bynum, Tristan Thompson and Anthony Bennett.
Injuries may thrust him into a bigger role, but there's no reason to draft Zeller this season. He didn't even approach fantasy value last year, despite starting 55 games and averaging 26 minutes as a rookie.

Tue Apr 9 201322:07Tyler Zeller scores 18 points in bad loss
Tyler Zeller had 18 points, three rebounds and two blocks on 9-of-17 shooting in Tuesday's loss to the Pacers.
Zeller shot the ball well from both inside and outside, and looked great tonight. He's hit or miss every time out, but had it going tonight.

Sun Mar 31 201320:50Tyler Zeller limited by foul trouble on Sun.
Tyler Zeller struggled with fouls throughout Sunday's road loss, finishing with four points, six rebounds and one block in 24 minutes.
Foul trouble is a common theme for Zeller. Among guys playing at least 25 minutes per game, he averages the fourth-most fouls-per-minute behind Roy Hibbert, Larry Sanders and Amir Johnson. His upside is a low-end double-double and a block per night, but duds like tonight are part of the package.

Sat Mar 30 201300:24Tyler Zeller double-doubles vs. Philly
Tyler Zeller shot 7-of-10 from the field for 14 points with 10 boards, three assists, one steal and one block in 35 minutes against the Sixers on Friday.
He was the only player in the starting five to shoot over 37 percent and the Cavs didn't have much of a chance to win with offensive efficiency like that. Zeller's minutes have been creeping up and he's blocked a shot in five straight games, so he's on the radar in deeper leagues.

Wed Mar 20 201323:47Tyler Zeller with sixth double-double in loss
Tyler Zeller had 12 points, 11 rebounds, a steal and block in Wednesday's crazy loss to the Heat.
This was his sixth double-double of the season, but they've come spread throughout the season, making him a pretty unreliable fantasy option. Just keep an eye on him.

Sat Mar 16 201323:13Tyler Zeller struggles w/ fouls vs. Spurs
Tyler Zeller racked up five personal fouls in just 16 minutes vs. Tim Duncan and the Spurs, limiting him to six points and one rebound without any blocks.
Zeller broke through with a double-double vs. the Mavs on Friday, but the good vibes were short-lived. Due partly to Zeller's foul problems, Marreese Speights wound up with 19 points in 23 minutes off the bench.

Sat Mar 16 201300:09Zeller double-doubles with two steals
Tyler Zeller double-doubled with 10 points, 10 rebounds and two steals in 31 minutes against the Mavs on Friday.
Zeller hit 4-of-12 shots and his 38 percent shooting over the last five games needs to improve for him to hold any real value. Marreese Speights scored two points with one rebound in 13 minutes off the bench, and both guys can be left on the wire in most formats.

Wed Mar 6 201323:20Tyler Zeller returns from illness in win
Tyler Zeller returned from an illness that kept him out of Monday's game and hit 1-of-5 shots for three points, four rebounds, two steals and three blocks in 23 minutes.
The steals and blocks were nice, while the points and rebounds were not. Marreese Speights has been coming on and while he played just 18 minutes tonight with Zeller back in action, he still had 14 points, seven rebounds and a block. Both players are worth a close eye in fantasy leagues, but neither player is really reliable enough to fully trust right now.

Tue Mar 5 201314:56Tyler Zeller will start Wednesday
Tyler Zeller (illness) will start Wednesday's game against the Jazz.
Zeller is over the illness that kept him out of Monday's game against the Knicks. Although backup Marreese Speights went off for 23 points in that one, we wouldn't expect a shift in the rotation. Speights caught some heat from coach Byron Scott for not coming to play in the second half. Zeller's usual 23-26 minutes are safe.

Tue Mar 5 201313:42Tyler Zeller returns to practice on Tuesday
Tyler Zeller (illness) returned to Cavs practice on Tuesday.
Zeller should be good to go on Wednesday, but it will be interesting to see how Byron Scott could change his rotation with Marreese Speights playing well while Zeller has really struggled recently.

Mon Mar 4 201318:12Tyler Zeller (illness) officially out vs. NYK
Tyler Zeller (illness) has officially been ruled out for Monday's game vs. the Knicks.
Zeller hasn't practiced for a few days and the Cavs seem to have quarantined both him and Dion Waiters, but hopefully he'll recover in time to face the Jazz on Wednesday. Marreese Speights will start at center in his absence.

Mon Mar 4 201311:41Tyler Zeller questionable vs. Knicks Monday
Tyler Zeller (illness) did not go through shootaround and is questionable to play against the Knicks on Monday.
Zeller was battling the illness on Sunday as well which forced him to miss practice, so it's unclear if he'll be able to play. If he doesn't, Tristan Thompson will be called into major minutes with Marreese Speights probable to start at center.

Sun Mar 3 201313:44Zeller (illness) iffy to play Monday vs. NYK
Tyler Zeller (illness) didn't practice on Sunday, leaving him uncertain to play vs. the Knicks on Monday.
If Zeller is sidelined, or limited, Marreese Speights is the most likely fill-in center for the Cavs. We should have an update after shootaround on Monday, so check back for the latest.

Sun Feb 24 201321:54Tyler Zeller struggles vs. small-ball Heat
Tyler Zeller's three-game streak with double-digit points screeched to a halt on Sunday, as he scored seven points with two rebounds in just 15 minutes.
The Heat tend to have a diastrous effect on most opposing centers, whom they expose with a variety of small-ball lineups and subsequent mismatches. Zeller is far from being a reliable option (shooting 43 percent this season, with more personal fouls than combined assists, steals and blocks), but we can at least give him a pass for tonight's dud.
