Sun Dec 1 201312:22Michael Kidd-Gilchrist probable for Sunday
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (plantar fasciitis) expects to play in Sunday's game vs. the Heat.
He practiced fully on Saturday and has been listed as 'probable' so this basically confirms his status. Unfortunately, his lousy play in the past few weeks makes him a non-starter in fantasy lineups.

Sat Nov 30 201314:13MKG (foot) practices, probable for Sunday
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (plantar fasciitis) practiced fully on Saturday and he's listed as probable for Sunday's game at Miami.
MKG hasn't scored double-digit points in his past seven games, and he has a combined 36 assists, steals and blocks on the season, with 31 turnovers. His struggles may be due in part to his plantar fasciitis but no matter the cause he's not a fantasy asset.

Fri Nov 29 201317:34Michael Kidd-Gilchrist in a walking boot
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's is dealing with plantar fasciitis and is in a walking boot.
He won't play against the Bucks on Friday and seems doubtful for Sunday's game against Miami. Kidd-Gilchrist has fizzled out since his fast offensive start and teams have been providing a big cushion against him to force him to shoot his broken jumper more, so fantasy owners shouldn't be too attached to holding him while he heals up. Jeff Taylor will likely get the start and he's had a few good games, so he's worth a look as a spot-start tonight.

Fri Nov 29 201312:05Michael Kidd-Gilchrist questionable Friday
Updating a previous report, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has plantar fasciitis in his right foot and is "highly questionable" for Fridays game vs. the Bucks.
Plantar fasciitis is a word fantasy owners never want to hear as it's an injury that tends to linger and only gets better with prolonged rest. We'll be monitoring this situation closely, but this opens the door for Jeff Taylor to take on a larger role with the team.

Fri Nov 29 201311:31Michael Kidd-Gilchrist questionable Friday
Steve Clifford said that Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has a foot injury and is "highly questionable" to play Friday night versus the Bucks.
If you're in a daily format, pull him out of your lineup. While MKG was off to a solid start, he has regressed substantially averaging a meager 6.4 points and 4.2 boards over his last five-games. Look for Jeff Taylor to take advantage of his extended minutes tonight.

Mon Nov 25 201323:09Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has another dud
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist scored four points with four boards and two turnovers in just 17 minutes against the Celtics on Monday.
After an eye-catching start, he's back to his lackluster offensive ways. Over his last five, Kidd-Gilchrist averaged just 6.4 points, 4.2 boards, 0.4 assists, 0.4 steals, 0.2 blocks and 2.6 turnovers in 23.0 minutes. Jeff Taylor played 27 minutes and isn't going away any time soon. MKG's value is trending down now that teams have remembered how to defend him.

Mon Nov 18 201322:56MKG struggles in Monday's loss
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was very quiet in Monday's game, scoring four points on 2-of-7 shooting with four rebounds, one assist and four turnovers in 26 minutes.
After a somewhat consistent start MKG has lost his late-round value and with Jeff Taylor (20 points) a viable bench player it wouldn't be surprising if he loses his fantasy appeal. That said, there is potential for MKG to rise up the rankings, but on nights like this it seems like he's a long way from realizing it.

Fri Nov 15 201323:06MKG scores 16 points on solid shooting
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist shot 6-of-9 from the field for 16 points against the Cavs on Friday to go with eight boards and one block in 29 minutes
One of the more surprising stats of the season is that MKG entered tonight shooting 47 percent on 2-point shots from outside the paint. He has been coached up by shooting great Mark Price and it seems to be paying off. It remains to be seen if he can keep up this pace, but Kidd-Gilchrist is worth owning in standard leagues until he cools off.

Wed Nov 13 201323:23Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has a quiet game
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist shot 3-of-6 from the field for six points with three boards, one assist and one steal in 28 minutes on Wednesday.
He fouled out and this was his worst game in a while. MKG's offense has been a shock lately and he came back to Earth a bit tonight. Prior to this game, 71 percent of his shots came from within eight feet, so if he's able to continue to get to the hoop, he might be able to sustain his 12.1 points per game.

Mon Nov 11 201322:37MKG starts off strong, fades in second half
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist scored 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting with six rebounds and three assists in Monday's loss to the Hawks.
MKG did all of his damage in the first half and lost all of his energy in the second half, and was eventually pulled from the game late for that reason. It's the kind of mixed performance we'd expect from a second year player, but on the whole he has been getting it done for owners this season.

Sat Nov 9 201302:27Kidd-Gilchrist finding his groove for CHA
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist continued to build slow momentum on Friday against the Knicks, scoring 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting (no threes) with eight rebounds, one steal and three blocks in 34 minutes.
MKG has settled in on the border of mid-to-late round value but most importantly he has been consistent lately, which has been the knock on him since joining the association. He could easily be low man on the Totem pole in terms of touches when Al Jefferson returns, but his foundation is found in his defensive contributions and with a fantasy friendly game he has the ability to climb rankings faster than the average player.

Tue Nov 5 201323:21Michael Kidd-Gilchrist plays well in win
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist broke out on Tuesday with 16 points, eight rebounds, an assist, a steal and three blocks on 5-of-7 shooting in a win over the Knicks.
He had 15 points and a decent line on Friday, so there are signs that he's getting ready to start producing consistently. If you're carrying some dead weight on your bench, it could be time to take a flier on MKG. He left tonight's game with a bloody nose, but was able to return and finish.

Fri Nov 1 201322:37Kidd-Gilchrist plays well over 37 minutes
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was active in Friday's win over the Cavs, scoring 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting with six rebounds, one steal and one block over 37 minutes.
Given his fantasy friendly game he should probably be owned in standard formats after his relatively quick start. We're not entirely sold on his consistency, but it won't take much production for him to be a late-round value.

Thu Oct 31 201317:10Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's option picked up
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who returned to action on Wednesday with seven points and eight rebounds in 30 minutes, had his 2014-15 option picked up by the Bobcats.
MKG has held off Jeff Taylor for the starting SF job despite his recent hamstring injury, and the Bobcats are committed to developing him and improving his busted jump shot. He averaged 9.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 0.9 blocks in 26 minutes per game as a rookie, numbers which should all improve in his second NBA season.

Mon Oct 28 201315:16Kidd-Gilchrist (hamstring) back at practice
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's hamstring injury didn't seem to bother him during Monday's practice.
He sat out Friday's exhibition after injuring himself on Thursday, but appears to have avoided any serious damage. His speedy return is good news for anyone drafting him in the late rounds, as Jeff Taylor may be making a push for the starting SF job.

Thu Oct 24 201321:44Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's injury not serious
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's right hamstring strain sustained in Thursday's game is not considered serious.
He's not going to be playing in Friday's preseason finale and the team is likely to re-evaluate him, as well. Kidd-Gilchrist's offensive woes have kept him from consideration in most leagues, so there's even less reason to target him late. Jeff Taylor was terrific on Thursday and will get another chance to try and show the new coaching staff that he deserves a chance to start in the opener.

Thu Oct 24 201320:37Michael Kidd-Gillchrist strains hamstring
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist suffered a strained right hamstring and will not return to Thursday's game against the Cavs.
The severity of the strain is not yet know and the fact that he was ruled out in a preseason game is basically inconsequential. Kidd-Gilchrist still hasn't developed any sort of a shot and all four of his shot attempts came from inside the paint. He finished with six points, three boards, two assists, one steal and one block. If MKG needs to miss time, Jeff Taylor would become a very intriguing pickup in most leagues due to his terrific offseason.

Thu Oct 17 201313:57Michael Kidd-Gilchrist plays well in blowout
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had six points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in 20 minutes on Thursday.
He reportedly ran the floor well and looked good today, despite the lack of offense. He should step up his game and score more this season, but don't expect any miracles. However, the two steals and two blocks were not a fluke.

Tue Oct 8 201323:16Michael Kidd-Gilchrist shoots 1-of-6 Tuesday
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist didn't shake his shooting woes in his preseason debut, making 1-of-6 from the field for three points with four boards and two turnovers.
Mark Price has been coaching him up, so he's probably not happy about MKG's performance, small sample size notwithstanding. He's one of the worst jump-shooting wings in the NBA and it's one tall order for Price to get the issue turned around. We're not touching Kidd-Gilchrist in drafts. Meanwhile, Jeffery Taylor scored nine points and five boards on Tuesday, and he's going to pressure for MKG's job for much of the season since he's impressed coach Steve Clifford so far.

Wed Oct 2 201310:43Kidd-Gilchrist's jump shot a work in progress
Bobcats assistant Mark Price said of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's shooting mechanics, "There are a lot of different areas that need some work."
Price has compared rebuilding MKG's shot to "major reconstructive surgery." Among MKG's problems, his hands aren't positioned correctly on the ball, his elbows are cocked at awkward angles, his release point is off, and he's rarely set properly to catch-and-shoot. We've spent a lot of time referencing his 27.2 percent shooting on jump shots last year, and it's hard to imagine a major recovery while his jumper is still on the operating table.
